18 th Sunday in Ord. Time 1 st / 2 nd August 2015 Vol. 33 No. 34 Parish Open Day Hits the Mark The organisers of last weekend’s Parish Open Day are delighted with its success. Event co-ordinator Helen Murray says the outcome was extremely pleasing. Fr Peter opened the event, reminding the crowd of the parable of the loaves and fishes with its powerful lesson about sharing and relationship formation. More than 300 people are estimated to have attended. The event centred on fellowship, friendship and family fun with the level of participation spanning all age groups. Many people commented favourably on the wide range of activities and enterprises undertaken in the parish, some of which were not previously known to them. New volunteers were enlisted for numerous groups and ministries. As a result of generous donations, 5 gourmet hampers and 10 other prizes were raffled on the day and 3 door prizes awarded. The day featured a cake stall, organised by Felicity Kendall and supported by the Holy Rosary School P &F, a sausage sizzle, information desks, music entertainment, morning tea and coffee, children’s activities and a baby animal farm. One highlight was the unveiling of a series of 27 stunning photographic “mini-murals” depicting parish life – all taken and produced by Richard Goodwin. The money raised from each stall amounted to: Tea & Coffee $ 117.90 Sausage Sizzle $ 406.00 P & F Cake stall $ 595.90 Raffle $ 609.30 TOTAL $1,729.10 Father Peter, on behalf of the Parish Pastoral Council, would like to thank everyone who contributed their time and energy to the success of the Open Day, with special thanks to Helen Murray, Richard Goodwin, Charles Vinci and the Holy Rosary School P & F and everyone who attended.
