COMMENDATION

WHEREAS, on the night of Thursday, December 3, 1987, Mr. Pat Figleyof Naples, displayed heroic efforts to save the life of afellow man, Josephy Enright, following a tragic automobileaccident; and

WHEREAS, said accident left the Enright automobile submerged in thedeep, cold and murkey waters of the canal along State Road951 in Golden Gate, with Josephy Enright trapped insidethe vehicle; and

WHEREAS, upon Mr. Figley's coincidental, but timely, arrival at theaccident scene, he instinctively dove into the dark canaland made repeated attempts to free the victim; and

WHEREAS, when finally the unconscious body of Josephy Enright wasdislodged and brought out of the water by an exhaustedPat Figley, Emergency Medical Service personnel arrivedand administered highly professional but futile cardio-pulmonary resuscitation; and

WHEREAS, the City of Naples recognizes the valiant efforts andextraordinary courage of Pat Figley;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, EDWIN J. PUTZELL, JR., by virtue of the authorityvested in me as Mayor of the City of Naples, Florida, dohereby commend MR. PAT FIGLEY in the highest manner forhis unselfish act of courage toward a fellow man in a timeof desperate need;
