Product Questions & Answers
1. Why does Canada not have all the same products as the US? The products that are available in the Canadian market are the first products for Plexus to introduce. Each product was carefully chosen to meet Health Canada regulations. Plexus will be continuing to introduce additional products as they are approved by Health Canada.
2. Will new products be launched in Canada and US at the same time? Health Canada requires Natural Health Products and some food products to complete an application process that can take up to one year for approval and registration before entering the market. Plexus will strive to launch products at the same time in both markets when possible, however, the application process could cause products to be launched in Canada after a US launch date.
3. Are the formulas the same in Canada and the US? Most of the formulas for Canadian and US products are the same, yet occasionally there will be formula changes required to meet Health Canada regulatory guidelines.
4. Why are the labels different on Canada products than US products? The FDA and Health Canada have different label guidelines. Plexus products are labelled to be compliant with the unique requirements in each country, and corresponding product classification guidelines.
5. Where can I find claims and product information for Canada products?Product information including the label and product claims can be found on the Plexus Canada website at plexusworldwide.ca. Further product information is located on the Product Information Sheets, which contain detailed FAQs about each product.
To access the Information Sheets and additional resources such as product Brochures, How to Share Sheets, and Videos, log in to your Virtual Office, click the Sharing Plexus Tab, select Products, and select Canada from the country drop down menu. All Canada specific marketing materials will then appear.
6. Why do we have sucrose in Canadian VitalBiomeTM?There is no difference in the formula or quality between the US and Canadian VitalBiome product. Plexus follows strict regulatory guidelines in every country to maintain product compliance. Health Canada requires Plexus to list sub-ingredients on the label. Sucrose is a sub-ingredient found in some strains of probiotics used in VitalBiome, which helps the probiotics survive during the manufacturing and storage process. Sucrose is not an ingredient added to VitalBiome, but is a part of the probiotic strains. The product does not have enough Sucrose to contribute calorically and does not impact blood sugar.
7. Why does the U.S. VitalBiome list 20 Billion CFU while Canadian VitalBiome lists 7 Billion CFU? There is no difference in the formula or quality between the US and Canadian VitalBiome product. Plexus follows strict regulatory guidelines in every country to maintain product compliance. Health Canada labelling requirements are different from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Plexus puts 20 Billion CFU’s in VitalBiome at the time of manufacturing to ensure that the product is effective through its shelf life. Health Canada requires listing CFU count at end of product expiration. The 7 Billion CFU’s listed on the Canadian label represents the minimum amount of probiotics found in VitalBiome at the end the 18-month shelf life.
8. The Canadian Success Kit does not mention the words anxiety or IBS (when referring to the VitalBiome), but we were told at convention that we would be able to use this verbiage when referring to our VitalBiome as it was approved by Health Canada. Is this still valid or no? And if no, why did it change?Plexus VitalBiome helps reduce abdominal pain associated with Irritable Bowel Syndrome. This claim is in both the product catalogue and product cards found in the Canadian Success Kit. We do not currently have an authorized anxiety claim from Health Canada. For up to date product information, please log in to your Virtual Office and review the marketing materials found in the Sharing Plexus tab.
9. Is Stevia found in both U.S. Plexus Slim® and Canadian Plexus Slim? There is no difference in the formula or quality between the US and Canadian Slim product. Plexus follows strict regulatory guidelines in every country to maintain product compliance. In the U.S, Stevia is listed as: Stevia (Stevia Rebaudiana) Leaf Extract. In Canada, Stevia is listed by its common name: Rebaudioside A, as required by Health Canada regulations.
10. Why is Maltodextrin listed as an ingredient in the Canadian Slim, but not in the U.S. Slim? There is no difference in the formula or quality between the US and Canadian Slim product. Plexus follows strict regulatory guidelines in every country to maintain product compliance. Non-GMO maltodextrin is a commonly used sub-ingredient that helps convert liquid flavours to powdered flavours. Health Canada requires Plexus to list sub-ingredients on the label if they perform a function in the finished product, whereas in the U.S., non-GMO maltodextrin is accounted for as a part of the natural flavours listed.
11. Slim packaging states: consult a health care practitioner for use beyond 8 weeks. Can you explain why there is a time limit? Is this because Health Canada requires a stated time limit without a health care practitioner being involved? Or is there another reason? There is no difference in the formula or quality between the US and Canadian Slim product. Plexus follows strict regulatory guidelines in every country to maintain product compliance. The Canadian labels provide directions of use, claim, and cautions in compliance with Health Canada regulations. In addition, the caution statements addressing the period the product is used are required by Health Canada.
Product Questions & Answers (continued)
12. I was under the impression there was no sugar only steviain the Plexus Slim® and the VitalBiomeTM? When I look atthe ingredient list I don’t see stevia but I do see sucrose, maltodextrin in the probiotics and I see maltodextrin in theslim drinks! That’s a sugarThere is no difference in the formula or quality between the US and Canadian VitalBiome or Slim products. Plexus follows strict regulatory guidelines in every country to maintain product compliance. Health Canada requires Plexus® to list sub-ingredients on the label.
Non-GMO maltodextrin is a commonly used sub-ingredient that helps convert liquid flavours to powdered flavours. Health Canada requires Plexus to list sub-ingredients on the label if they perform a function in the finished product, whereas in the U.S., non-GMO maltodextrin is accounted for as a part of thenatural flavours listed.
13. Why are the directions different for U.S. Bio CleanseTM andCanadian Bio Cleanse?Plexus follows strict regulatory guidelines in every country to maintain product compliance. The level of Magnesium Hydroxide in the Canadian Bio Cleanse is slightly different than in the U.S. Bio Cleanse. As a result, directions are set based on the proper amount of product to meet Health Canada regulatory compliance.
14. An Ambassador stated: Plexus XFactor PlusTM and BioCleanse are half the strength in Canada, why are strengthsdifferent on some products?Plexus follows strict regulatory guidelines in every country to maintain product compliance. There is no difference in the formula or quality between the US and Canadian XFactor Plus. The level of Vitamin C and Magnesium Hydroxide in the Canadian Bio Cleanse is slightly different than in the U.S. Bio Cleanse. The Canada labels provide directions of use to achieve maximum benefits as per product claims that were set in compliance with Health Canada regulations.
15. Bio Cleanse states that it is for relief of “occasional constipation.” This seems to imply that it should not be taken daily for an extended period. And the cautions on the inside of the label state that extended use can cause dependence on the product for bowel movements. Can you explain Plexus’s recommendations for this product?Plexus follows strict regulatory guidelines in every country to maintain product compliance. The Canada labels provide directions of use, claim, and cautions in compliance with Health Canada regulations. In addition, the caution statements addressing the period the product is used are required by Health Canada. You may find additional information on the Canadian products at plexusworldwide.ca and in your Virtual Office (for Ambassadors and Preferred Customers).
16. Plexus XFactor Plus states: consult a health care practitioner for use beyond 3 months. Again, same question as 2. above. Is this mandated by Health Canada? Why would a multivitamin require a physician’s approval for use beyond 3 months? There is no difference in the formula or quality between the US and Canadian XFactor Plus product. Plexus follows strict regulatory guidelines in every country to maintain product compliance. The Canadian labels provide directions of use, claim, and cautions in compliance with Health Canada regulations. In addition, the caution statements addressing the period the product is used are required by Health Canada. You may find additional information on the Canadian products at plexusworldwide.ca and in your Virtual Office (for Ambassadors and Preferred Customers).
17. Why is there a difference between the amount of the Proprietary Blend in the US vs. the Canadian Plexus EaseTM
product? There is no difference in the formula or quality between the US and Canadian Ease product. Plexus follows strict regulatory guidelines in every country to maintain product compliance. Serrapeptase, which is part of the Proprietary Blend, has different labelling requirements in Canada. In Canada, the label declaration is based upon the Serrapeptase enzyme activity, while in the U.S. the label declaration is based on the input amount in mg.
