The system and equipment described in this %pecification are designed to allow safe(efficient( fle>ible and economic wor'ing on construction wor'sites in all mattersrelating to the distributing and use of electricity.
<nstallation of equipment and cables shall be in accordance with the same stringentstandards used for permanent installations( with minor e>ceptions relating to cablesupports. lthough the installation may be only temporary( the harsh conditions onsite require that the standard of installation should be equal to that of the company"spermanent installations.
<nstallation of equipment on a !DO wor'site shall allow convenient and safe accessto permit authorised and competent operatives to wor' on apparatus contained within.

The *ontractor shall be responsible for the provision of electrical power in theconstruction site area. Normally this will be in the form of portable * generator sets.Chere a main supply is available( this requirement may be waived. ;owever( it willbe subFect to agreement with the *ompany. u>iliary soc'et outlets on weldingmachines may be used for the supply of hand tools of *lass +.
$etalwor' of generating sets shall be bonded to metalwor' of the %ite distributionsystem. The star point of a three-phase generating set and the neutral of a single-phase generating set shall be included in the above bonding ?TN-% systemA. The *ontractor shall be responsible for determining both pea' and average powerrequirements of electrical equipment to be used during the construction period. Thisshall include not only equipment directly used in construction but also ancillaryservices such as site and office lighting( air conditioning( water heaters( etc( and shall
include all equipment at all voltages. The assessment shall ta'e account also ofmotor starting currents to ensure that suitably rated generating equipment has beeninstalled.
The *ontractor shall prepare this assessment for approval by the *ompany prior tomobilisation and shall present it in tabular form with separate columns for eachvoltage level. sample is given in ppendi> +.

The single line diagram shall beaccompanied by a layout drawing showing proposed initial location of all equipment(identified by the use of numbers on the single line diagram. typical single linediagram is shown in !!#ND< 5( illustrating the principles which shall be followed.The *ontractor may vary both rating and number of units( as convenient.

&efore the distribution system is put into service it shall be tested by the *ontractoraccording to the requirements of the <## 3egulations( and subsequently at three-monthly intervals.
Test results shall be recorded on <nspection *ertificates conforming to the specimenin ppendi> ,( copies of which shall be submitted to the *ompany.
Testing and <nspection shall include:
- 4isual inspection.
- *ontinuity of final circuit conductors.
- *ontinuity of protective conductors.
- #arth fault loop impedance.
- !olarity.
- <nsulation resistance.
- Operation of residual current devices by an approved test method.
- #arth electrode resistance.
,.9., Planned Inspection
<n addition to the testing described above( the *ontractor shall implement a system ofplanned inspections of all equipment at regular intervals not e>ceeding two-wee's.The main *ontractor shall ensure that all subcontractors adopt a similar system.!articular attention shall be paid( but not be limited to:

condition.

The *ontractor shall be responsible for implementation of an inspectionmaintenancesystem and he shall provide details of his system with the Tender. The followingpoints are the minimum required.
ll portable apparatus shall be identified by a serial number which shall be recordedin a register.
The register shall indicate how often each item should be recalled for routineinspection and maintenance( and a competent person shall be appointed to recovereach item on its due date.

Units which are unserviceable or in unsafe condition shall be withdrawn from use until
defects have been rectified.

documents relating to the electrical installation. These shall include:- %ingle-1ine Diagrams.

- 3ecords of lterations.
Originals of drawings and at least one print of each shall be 'ept. ll alterations shallbe mar'ed on a master print and the original shall be brought up to date. ll issues ofdrawings shall be retained to record the history of all additions and alterations to thedistribution systems.
