The school was established in 1991 and since its opening the school has established a strong reputation for sporting, academic and cultural achievements. We have a significant special education program with the ability to educate a wide range of students with intellectual disabilities. Our school’s principal is Ms Suzi Clapham and our deputy principals are Mr Paul Ryan and Mr Jeff Hollingsworth. Our 2013-2014 school captains are Jessica Hull and Joshua Leet. Our school has three student leadership groups, the SRC (Student Representative Committee), CAPA (Creative and Performing Arts) and Sports Committee. These committees provide students with the opportunity to develop strong leadership skills and organise and fund-raise for activities in and outside of school. At Albion Park High School, our three core values of respect, responsibility and commitment are demonstrated through positive student involvement in learning experiences. GEORGIA FALCON Y ear 8 ALBION Park High School has always supported many charities including Bandanna Day, The Bush Fire Appeal, The Year 8 Fun Run supporting Camp Quality, the 40 Hour Famine, Wrapped with Love and Relay for Life. In both 2012 and 2013, Albion Park High School’s year 8 participated in a fun run. This year the fun run was themed bright colours and sportswear, which led to higher student involve- ment. Doing multiple activities during this event made it interesting and fun. The year 8 cohort are proud of the money that they have raised and even had the privilege of getting the school’s name on the People’s Truck in the recent Camp Quality Convoy. With the recent bush fires and the devastation in the Blue Mountains and Southern Highlands, an appeal was definitely one of the most important fund- raisers the school community organised. All students and staff were encouraged to wear a red piece of clothing or accessory and donate a gold coin. Bandanna Day was another great success with the help of our school’s Student Representative Council. The SRC gave up their lunch times to sell bandannas and pens. After a few days of selling, the SRC had sold out of bandannas and pens that they were given to sell. This was a very big achievement. Did you know that there are millions of people suffering extreme cold? Well, Wrapped with Love is a program run by our librarian, Mrs Estherby. The students of Albion Park High created knitted squares to make blankets for the people who are suffering. In total we made seven blankets which were then distributed to people in need locally or overseas. The 40 Hour Famine is a charity that many of the students of Albion Park High School are involved with. To raise money they went for 40 hours without the things that we all take for granted and this initiative raised a helpful amount of money for people in Third World countries. The Albion Park High School community are extremely proud of the students and their compassion to those who are less fortunate, both in Australia and overseas.
