Removal of the concrete pads under the tanks begins this March. Soroptimist raise $47,000 at Monte Carlo Fundraiser By Jerry Bernstein T he Soroptimist Chapter of Artesia-Cerritos held its 18th Monte Carlo fundraising event Feb. 26 in the Sierra Room at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts. Theme for the event was “An Evening in Casablanca”, taking those in attendance back to the year 1942. A life-size framed poster of Ingrid Bergman and Humphrey Bogart and a group of picture from the 1942 film “Casablan- ca” over looking the stage set the theme for an evening of fun and fine dining. This year the Soroptimist raised over $47,000 gross. Assistant Engineer Kanna Vancheswaran said on Nov. 12, 2008, former Governor Schwarzenegger signed Execu- tive Order No. S1408, which raised California’s renewable energy goals from 20 percent to 33 percent by 2020.
