• Iceland is located in the North Atlantic Ocean just south of the Arctic Circle. It is a part of Europe, not of North America.

• Iceland is the world's 18th largest island, and Europe's second largest island following Great Britain.

•There are also many geysers in Iceland, which erupts every 5–10 minutes.

•The climate of Iceland's coast is sub polar oceanic. the south coast is warmer, wetter and windier than the north. Snowfall in winter is more common in the north than the south. The Central Highlands are the coldest part of the country.

There is a legend: when to Iceland night goes down, small trolls leave their caves and start to build stone pyramids. high quality restaurants in Iceland, serving specialties including freshly caught seafood, meat from naturally reared animals and prize game from the unspoilt countryside.

• Iceland offers a fine variety of all kinds of foods produced locally. The quality is excellent, in part because of a very clean environment. Perhaps the best is lamb meat, mostly because the sheep range freely in the mountains. Iceland has strict regulations relating to meat production.

•Skaftafell national park is situated at the foot of Skaftajökull, one of 46 outlet glaciers of Vatnajökull glacier. Skaftafell is a wooded area surrounded by expanses of sand desert deposited by glacial rivers.

•Vatnajökull is the largest glacier in Europe (8,400 km2). It covers 8% of Iceland and has an average thickness of 400 m.There are still active volcanos under the ice.

•The Blue Lagoon was formed when the adjacent geothermal energy station started operations.It is a completely unique phenomena. The water is rich in minerals and is used for relaxation, as well as medical purposes.

•Gullfoss (the Golden Waterfall) is among Europe's largest waterfalls.
