SPONSORSHIP PROPOSALWho are we?

The Eastern Raptors are a growing rugby league club supporting the outer eastern metropolitan catchment area of Melbourne. Founded in 2011 the club provides an opportunity for children from 5 to 18 years old to play and enjoy rugby league in the NRL Victoria competition. We grew 160% in 2013 to field 6 teams and grew in 2014 memberships by 50%. 2015 is set to be a bumper year with us on track to introduce our first U16’s, U18’s, Girls LeagueTag and over 35 year old Masters team for the old fellas who just can’t quite hang up their boots! Our long-term objective is to grow through the junior grades incrementally to field a senior grade in the near future.

We are the only rugby league club in the outer eastern suburbs working in a catchment area of 450,000 residents. Rugby League is one of Victoria’s fastest growing sports growing 30% year on year. We have highly experienced volunteers whose contribution meant we came third in the 2014 NRL Victoria, Spirit of League Program behind clubs that have been operating much longer! We have laid the foundation and this is a significant opportunity for our club and our partners.

Rugby League is often considered by people who are unfamiliar as a dangerous sport. Let’s admit, yes, rugby league comes with it’s inherent injury risks but did you know they are significantly lower than Australian Rules Football, Soccer and Cycling? The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare in partnership with National Injury Surveillance Unit at Flinders University ran a study of hospitalisations in 2011 and 2012 revealing some interesting results. Hopefully this solid data dispels the myth! To ensure our players are well cared for, the Eastern Raptors Rugby League Club is the only club in the NRL Victorian competition to have two qualified Level 2 Sports Trainers supported by a team of Level 1 Trainers. Level 2 Trainers are the guys and girls you see on the NRL games on TV.
