Connecting the Aerial / Cable and External Device
2. Pre-Installation
Place your TV on a flat surface, with at least half a foot separating it from the nearest wall. Insert the 'mains' plug into the appropriate source. As shown above, connect the antenna cable to the socket (s) using a balun transformer attached to the cable end. You can connect a VCR / VCD / VCP / DVD player to your TV as shown above.

• RF cord of video can also be connected to socket(s).
• Switch off TV before connecting the antenna input.
• Before connecting any external inputs to your TV, switch off the TV.

contract with the company by approaching any of the service centers as stipulated in their manual at a cost as determined by the company.

The Onida Colour TV set is guaranteed against manufacturing defects of parts & components for a period of one year from the date of purchase.
This warranty is valid within the municipal limits. This warranty does not extend to any part of the set which has been damaged
due to misuse, neglect, accident or improper installation, damages caused by pets or any external agents such as lightning, flooding, fire etc.
Further this warranty shall cease to be operative in the event of the set having been tampered with, serviced or repaired by any agency not authorized by the company.
The Company does not also cover loss or damage in transit whether carried by the Company's transport or by the purchaser.
The Company will not be liable for the dealer's expenses, if any, charged in carrying out the terms of this warranty.
The Company will not be liable for any delay in rectifying the set, in the event of non -availability of spares.
The Company will also not be responsible for losses, direct or indirect, arising out of the delay, if any.
This warranty does not cover ghosting or fading effect, in the picture, caused by the situation of the purchaser's residence, where the set is located.
This warranty does not extend to accessories (including aerial), if any, supplied with this set. In the event the set requires attention at the Company's Service Station, the Company shall arrange the to an fro transportation during Warranty period.
If the purchaser desires to send this set for a general check up/repair to the Service station, he will have to bear the to and fro cost.
Maximum care is taken to ensure that the set and aerial are shock proof. However the Company shall in no way be liable for any loss or damage causes to property, for death & disability caused to human life for any reason whatsoever.
This warranty is issued subject to the jurisdiction of civil courts in Mumbai.

Many apparent malfunctions are caused by slight misadjustments of the regular controls or some other equally simple cause. If any difficulty arises in the operation of your set, first check through this list of symptoms & corrections. When you touch the CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) Surface, you might feel slight charge of static electricity. This is because the CRT contains static electricity: it does not affect the human body.
g Due to alternation of ambient temperature, a cracking sound might be heard from the Home Theatre set; there is not problem unless the picture, sound is abnormal.
g When a still bright image (white dress, for example) appears on the screen, the image might be

The following are not caused by TV malfunctions: discoloured. This problem occurs
in all CRTs. As the bright image disappears, such coloration also disappears.
g Sometimes there could be a picture jump, noise in the picture and sound or some strange disturbance in picture and sound caused due to electrical appliances, tubelights, etc. This will normally be a temporary condition.

11. Favorites
FavoriteFavorite feature allows user to store the programs of his choice in favorite list and then invoke the same by pressing FAV button on the remote control.
To Select User
User can be selected by pressing / keys. When user presses key User 1, User 2, User 3 and User 4 will appear in that order. Similarly key can also be used.Note: If TV menu key is pressed then / ,keys can't be used for FAVORITE purpose. To use / key for above purpose, you need to get out of the menu mode by pressing DISP key on remote.

To store particular channel as favorite channel, press FAV button on remote. For e.g. If you want to make channel number 5 favorite channel. First select channel no. 5 and then press the FAV button on remote. Channel no. 5 will be stored in your favorite list.
By repeating above steps, one can store maximum of 10 favorite channels in each user login. Similarly maximum of 10 favorite programs can be stored in User 2, User 3 and User 4.

To remove any favorite channel, first select the channel which you wish to delete. Then press FAV button. Screen will show FAVORITE CANCELLED for that particular channel.
To Add Favorite After 10 Channels
Maximum storage capacity per user is 10 channels. FAVORITE EXCEEDED message will display once the list is full. Further program can be stored only after a channel is deleted from the list as shown in the previous step.

Features On The RemoteSwap Child Safe
Press Swap key at a certain channel number to toggle between the previously viewed channel and the present one.
You need not bother about TV viewing of your child when you are away/out of home. Just set Child Safe feature ON. Press Child Safe key. • Press key repeatedly (at the
desired channel you wish your child should watch) to set the viewing time in increments of 5 minutes up to a limit of 120 minutes.
• Press key and then key to change the VSM settings as desired.
• Press key and then key to set the maximum volume you want your child to hear the program. Press ZOOM & VOL minus (-) to activate CHILD SAFE.
Once the set time has elapsed, your set will switch OFF automatically. When you switch ON the set it will ask you for Enter Lock Key. Press ZOOM & VOL minus (-) simultaneously to come out from Child Safe mode.
Sleep Timer Press the key repeatedly to set up the time in increments of 15 minutes up to a limit of 120 minutes. Setting it up puts the television into the standby mode at the end of the time so set up.
MutePress the Mute key to reduce the volume level to half the volume level. Pressing it again makes the sound inaudible.
Music Mode The picture goes off with the press of this key leaving the audio on. Alarm lamp on the front panel blinks to indicate that the feature is on. By Pressing CH + /- key comes out of Music Mode.
Digital Eye*Zap / Timer Return
Press the key to activate this feature so that the screen automatically adjusts to an optimum picture setting according to the lighting conditions of your room.
To avoid viewing advertisements, press the Zap key to get a screen indicating Timer Return. Press Zap ! key to set the time in increments of 30 seconds. Having set the time, you may now move to any other channel. After the time lapses, the picture switches to the channel originally being viewed.Note : To come to the original channel prematurely, simply press the Zap ! key once.
Note:
• Pressing the VSM key switches the digital eye off.
• * Not available for B, H, I, L, N & O Models.
5. SetupTurning your TV On.
You must first store stations to channels in order to view a TV program. Enter into the setup OSD (Ref. Pg. 16, fig. 4.6)
g Auto TuneYou can automatically store all TV stations to the respective channels on your TV by one simple operation.• In the Setup Menu select
AUTO TUNE.• Press key to start ‘AUTO TUNE’.
Searching For & Storing TV Channels
gPress the Main power button on the TV to turn main power on. The power lamp on the front panel glows.
g If image does not appear on the screen, your TV is in standby mode. Press the power button on the remote control or channel / (or channel + / - ) or any of the numeric keys to switch the TV on.
gTo switch the TV off, press the power button on the remote control. The TV is switched to standby mode. To turn the TV’s main power off, press the main power button on the TV. The power indicator lamp stops glowing, indicating that powerhas been turned off.
Channel SearchUse this option to manually tune the TV station to any desired channel no. on your TV. Select channel number by pressing CHANNEL +/- key. Then press / repeatedly to search for the desired channel.Note: To stop Channel Search, press DISP key or TV menu key on remote.
Colour System (COL-SYS)You can select appropriate colour system on your TV using this option.• Select SOUND-SYS from Setup
Menu• Pressing / keys will toggle
between Auto, PAL (RF mode) or Auto, PAL, NTSC3.58, NTSC4.43 (Video mode)
• This option can also be selected by pressing ‘COL-SYS’ key on your remote.
Sound System (SOUND-SYS)• Select SOUND-SYS from Setup
Menu• Select required ‘Sound System’ by
pressing / keys.• Default option in sound system is
’BG’.
• Changing channel numbers and frequencies appear on screen to indicate the progress of tuning process.
Note:To stop Auto Tuning, press DISP key or TV menu key on the remote.

g Fine Tuning If the picture is not clear after CHANNEL SEARCH, use the 'FINE TUNE' function (Fig. 4.6)• Select 'FINE TUNE’ from the Setup
Menu.• Press / key to fine tune the TV
station, so that the best image is displayed on screen.
Note: Using the ‘FINE TUNING’ feature switches OFF the AFT
Auto Fine Tune (AFT)When this option is set to ON, the TV constantly fine tunes the channel in order to keep a steady picture and sound even when the signal is weak or disturbed.

Sound Status Memory***
Press ZOOM key to set the picture to ZOOM, WIDE or NORMAL. The picture stretches vertically in the ZOOM mode. This feature is helpful in viewing the picture closely, especially when it is in cinemascope format.
Note: In the zoom mode, the picture may get cut at the top and at the bottom.
When the set is in STANDBY mode, you may press the STANDBY/ POWER key to put it ON. To have it work the other way round and put the set back into the standby mode, press the STANDBY/POWER key once again.
Video Status MemoryYou can select one of the five picture adjustment modes by repeatedly pressing VSM key on the remote control. (Fig 10.1)

Viewing Image from anExternal Device
You can view images from VCR's or other external devices connected to your TV. Refer to Fig. 2.1, Pg. 5, for external devices connections.• Press TV/DTH key on the remote
control unit to select the video mode. ‘AV’ mode should be selected for watching VCR/VCP/VCD/DVD player. To select AV mode using the front control buttons on the TV repeat the following steps.
• Press 'TV menu’ key on the front control panel.
• Select 'INPUT' by using CHANNEL / keys and change viewing
modes by using VOLUME + / - keys.

Skin ToneThis feature allows you to select skin tone settings for your picture from glowing (reddish), natural and soft (bluish).• Select ‘SKIN TONE’ from feature
menu.• By repeatedly pressing key to
set skin tone to NORMAL, COOL or WARM according to your preference.
• This option can also be selected by pressing ‘SKIN TONE’ key on your remote.
Message You can record and read message in your TV. In your absence, other members of your family can read the messages when TV is switched ON.• Select ‘MESSAGE’ from the

This function allows you to adjust the brightness, contrast, colour, sharpness & input sources of the picture. Enter into the Picture Menu (ref. Pg.15, fig. 4.2) to gain access to the functions:
Brightness• Select ‘BRIGHTNESS’ from the
Picture Menu.• Use the / key to decrease or
increase the picture brightness.
Contrast• Select ‘CONTRAST’ from the
Picture Menu.• Use the / key to decrease or
increase the picture contrast.
Colour• Select ‘COLOUR’ from the Picture
Menu.• Use the / key to decrease or
increase the picture colour.
Sharpness• Select ‘SHARPNESS’ from the
Picture Menu.• Use the / key to decrease or
increase the picture sharpness.
Input• Select ‘Input’ from the Picture
Menu. This function allows you to select the input source between TV / AV
Note: Tint is displayed in the Picture Menu only when viewing images from an NTSC colour system in Video Mode. This is useful to change the hue of the picture.
Off Timer (To access this option, CLOCK has to be set)
This feature helps you to switch off the TV at the desired time.• Select 'OFF TIMER’ from the
Channel Scheduler. • Press key to select between
AM & PM.• Pressing the numeric keys allows
you to set the off time.• Half a minute before switching
OFF, a GOODBYE message appears on the screen with the remaining seconds appearing as a countdown.
On Timer • This feature helps you switch ON
the TV at the desired time.• Select 'On Timer’ from the
Channel Scheduler. • Pressing the key allows you to
shift between AM & PM.• Pressing the numeric keys allows
you to input the ON Time.
On PosThis option helps you set a channel at which you want your TV to switch ON at the set time [ON TIMER]• Select ‘ON POS’ from the Channel
Scheduler. • Pressing the numeric keys allows
you to set the channel at which you want your TV to switch ON at the preset time [ON TIMER].
AlarmYou have to switch ON the ALARM in order for the above timers to be effective.• Select 'Alarm’ from the Channel
Scheduler. • Press key to switch it ON.Note:ALARM option can be selected only after the ON TIMER / OFF TIMER is set.
CalendarThis option helps you access CALENDAR from the years 1900-2099. • Select ‘CALENDAR’ from the

Feature Menu
Panel Lock This feature makes the front panel buttons unoperational. This is useful when you have kids at your place who might interfere your viewing by constantly pressing the front panel buttons.• Select ‘PANEL LOCK’ from Features
Menu.• Keys / will toggle ‘PANEL LOCK’
ON/OFF.
LanguageThere are 2 Languages; English and Hindi. User can change the language by entering Feature menu. Then go to Language and press }key to select English or Hindi Language.
Channel SchedulerThis menu allows you to set the clock & timer functions. Enter into the Channel Scheduler to gain access to the functions:• Press the TV menu key once
followed by the key to enter in Feature Menu and then access CHANNEL SCHEDULER MENU using key (Fig. 9.3)
• This menu allows you to adjust the Clock, On/Off Timer, On Pos, Alarm and Calendar functions.
ClockThis feature helps you to set the time of the clock operating in the TV system.• Select ‘CLOCK’ from the Channel
Scheduler. Use key to activate the ‘CLOCK’ option.
• Press / key, to shift between AM/PM.
• Pressing the numeric keys allows you to input the time.
• Press the DISP key, the clock will be displayed on the TV screen.
• Pressing the DISP key once more, the clock will disappear from the screen.
• If the Main Power is switched off, the clock will stop.
Note: It is normal if the clock drifts by a few minutes over a period. It does not mean that the clock is malfunctioning.
Enter into the Sound Menu (Refer Fig. 4.3, 4.4) to gain access to the sound adjustment functions:

BALANCE• You can adjust sound balance
between right and left side speakers as per your choice.
• Select 'BALANCE' from Sound Menu.
• Use / key to adjust the balance between right and left speakers.
Surround Sound• You can enjoy surround sound by
pressing the SURROUND key on your remote or from sound menu.
• Through Sound Menu use / keys to activate SURROUND remote or effect.
• In the “On” mode “SURROUND ON” is displayed on the screen and you get a three dimensional sound effect.
• You can switch-off the mode by pressing the “SURROUND” key again.
AVL (Automatic Volume Leveller) (For all Models)
You can eliminate sudden increase in volume during channel surfing by using the AVL feature.• Press menu key followed by
key to enter in SOUND menu.• Press / key and select AVL.• Press / key to make it or X.
Vol-Lock (For all Models) A certain maximum sound level can be fixed beyond which the sound level cannot rise.• Select 'VOL-LOCK’ from the Sound
Menu. Use / keys toactivate the VOL-LOCK.

Auto OffIn TV mode, if no signal is received by the set for 10 minutes, you can set the TV to shut off automatically in the ‘AUTO OFF’.• Select 'AUTO OFF’ from the

Hotel ModeThis mode helps in freezing the volume at its present value. Tuning control also turns inaccessible.• Select ‘HOTEL MODE’ from the

This menu allows you to adjust the Blue Back, Auto Off, Hotel Mode, DNR, Black Stretch, Channel Manager, Games, & Message. Enter into the Feature Menu (ref. Pg. 16, Fig. 4.5) to gain access to the functions:
DNR (Digital Noise Reduction)
This feature reduces the picture noise.• Select 'DNR’ from the Feature
Menu.• Press key will select or X. : Activates DNR - should be
selected when viewing a noisy picture.
X : Deactivates the DNR.Note: It is a performance feature and not demonstrable.
Black Stretch This enhances the contrast and picture details of the TV.• Select ‘BLACK STRETCH’ from the
Feature Menu.• Pressing / key will toggle
BLACK STRETCH' between and X.
Channel Manager • Select ‘CHANNEL MANAGER’
from the Feature Menu.• Press key to get into the sub-
menu.
InsertBy using this option, user can store a particular program on any channel number the user desires. • Select the program you want to
store on a different channel number.
• At the CH. Manager submenu Press key, enter the channel number (using numeric keys) where you want to store the program. (fig. 9.1)
• Press / key, the program will be inserted at the selected Channel number.
Delete• At the CH. Manager submenu
press key once to select DELETE.
• Press / key to delete the program. The particular program is deleted from the channel number, and all programs after that channel number are shifted up by one channel number.
SkipBy using this option, user can SKIP a channel no.• At the CH. Manager submenu
press key to enter into the SKIP sub-menu.
• Skip will be turned ON.Next time when the user surfs the channels, the channel will be skipped.

Brain game In this game there are total 25 asterisks ('*') arranged in 5x5 matrix. Initially all the *s are in white colour & player has to make all these to Yellow. The game ends when all asterisks become Yellow.• Select a Brain Game through
feature menu & using key.• Press navigation keys to select
the asterisks & make it Yellow using Menu key.
Puzzle In this game there are 0 to 9 numeric numbers & A to F characters placed randomly in 4x4 matrix. Player has to arrange these numbers/characters in sequence using navigation keys.
