British Open Wheelchair Tennis Championships Don’t miss out on your chance to see some of the world’s top wheelchair tennis players in action as they compete in the British Open Wheelchair Tennis Championships at Nottingham Tennis Centre. The event, organised by the Tennis Foundation, is just one level below Grand Slam on the international UNIQLO Wheelchair Tennis Tour. With five-time Grand Slam double champion Jordanne Whiley and US Open quad singles champion Andy Lapthorne amongst the Super Series entrants, alongside a high class international entry including world number ones Yui Kamiji and Shingo Kunieda from Japan, and David Wagner from America, the event will showcase the speed, skill and agility of wheelchair tennis as players seek qualification for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. With tickets just £5, find out more and secure yours here: www.britisopenwtc.org.uk

On Saturday 18th July you can come and try out tennis for free, meet and get top tips from the world’s best players. Make sure you re-register via the website so not to miss out on this fun filled day for all the family!

Why not pick up a racket? One of the fastest growing wheelchair sports in the world, wheelchair tennis integrates very easily with the non-disabled game since it can be played on any regular tennis court, with no modifications to rackets or balls. Wheelchair tennis players are allowed two bounces of the ball and can easily play against other wheelchair tennis players, as well as alongside or against non-disabled friends and family.

There are a number of venues in Nottinghamshire which run inclusive and impairment sessions for all abilities.
