This position has direct responsibility for and oversight of news, sports and photography departments, including hiring along with enforcement of newsroom and company policy. Position is responsible for assuring ethical conduct of news operation and staff. Also, responsible for understanding the wants and needs of readers and the public while applying staff and resources in a way that best meets those needs. Assures competent, professional and fair editing of staff reporters and protects accuracy and integrity of items ultimately published in the newspaper. This position will also plan and execute an annual budget for all news departments and be responsible for all payroll duties within these departments. Qualifications College degree required. At least 8 years of editing and reporting at a daily newspaper. Proven track record of team management and strong knowledge of AP Style writing.
