Stained Glass Last year we began the journey of installing beautiful pieces of stained glass in the Santa Marta Independent Living Chapel. Beginning with the center three windows behind the alter. In July we received the piece installed in the very center, representing the Lamb of God and Christ being the beginning & end of all. In December 2020, two more pieces were installed on either side of the Lamb of God. The Window on the left side depicts the Nativity of Jesus. Present are his Mother Mary and her husband Joseph. The inspiration comes from the Gospel of Luke Chapter 2 which discusses Mary and Joseph traveled from Nazareth to Bethlehem because of the Census ordered by Caesar Augustus. “While they were there the time came for her to have her child, and she gave birth to a Son... She wrapped Him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger because there was no room for them at the inn.” The window also includes the presence of several angels as well as animals in the manger. Left stained glass window
(Continued from front)At the bottom of the window is an inscription taken
from the book of the prophet Isaiah written in Latin:"Filius datus est” – which translates as "A Son is given to us.”
The window on the right is titled: “The Ascension ofJesus into Heaven”. Present in the window is of courseJesus rising into the Heavens with the Apostles looking on.The inspiration for the window can be found in the firstChapter of The Acts of the Apostles which says: "He waslifted up while they looked on, and a cloud took Him from theirsight." At the bottom of window is an inscription in Latinfrom the same chapter of the Acts of the Apostles – Quidaspicitis in Coelum – translated "Why are you standing herelooking into the sky?" It was the voice of an angel that theyheard.
Each of these beautiful pieces has added somethinguniquely special to the Santa Marta Chapel, and we lookforward to the pieces to come.
