Lighting Control

• Light control is the ability to automatically regulate the level and quality of light in

a given space for specific tasks or situations.

• A lighting control system consists of a device that controls electric lighting and

devices, alone or as part of a daylight harvesting system, for a public, commercial,

or residential building or property.

• Lighting control systems are used for working, and security illumination for

interior, exterior, and landscape lighting, etc.

• They are often part of sustainable architecture and lighting design for integrated

green building energy conservation programs.

Lighting Control

• Because it is CODE for spaces greater then 5000

square feet.

• ASHRAE, IECC and California building energy

codes.

Why provide lighting control?

X

Lighting Control

• Energy consumption, and power costs through more efficient usage.

• Longer lamp, ballast and fixture life.

• Ability to control any light, group of lights, or all lights in a building from a

single user interface device.

• Ability to create lighting zones:

• Night lighting Zone.

• Stocking Zone.

• Working zone

Advantages and benefits.

Lighting Control

• Occupancy sensor.

• Occupancy sensors are accepted by codes as a mean of provide automated

lighting control system.

• Best applications: high usage area with irregular schedule:

• Private offices.

• Class rooms.

• Conference rooms

• Lunch/break rooms

• Restrooms.

Lighting Control

• Time clocks

• mechanical or electronic used to turn a circuit on/off based on a specific time.

• 7 days programing up to 84 (42 ON/42 OFF) operations each week.

• Time saving.

• Two channels for two zones.

• Can accept a photocell feed.

• Best use for single circuits, show windows, signs..

Lighting Control

• For multiple circuits a time clock can't be used but you can provide

single zone lighting control with time clock and contactor.

Lighting Control

• Lighting control panel.

• Panels are pre-assembled relay panels designed for controlling lighting

loads of any type including HID ballasts and lamps.

• Brain/controller for zone controls.

• Every circuit can be controlled a separate zone.

• Panels are available in different sizes, for housing up to 42 relays.

Lighting Control

• Lighting control panel Cont.

• Remote override switches can be connected directly to the relays.

• A group switch can also be connected to the input of the Controller for

control of any of the relays.

• Photocell and Occupancy sensor interface available.

• To expand or connect multiple panel you can provide master and slave

panels.
