The cougars description is very unique. Cougars are one of the biggest cats in the North America and South America; the only cat that’s larger than a cougar, are jaguars. The male cougars are about twice the size of a female cougar. When a male cougar stands up straight, the average size would be about 5 feet tall . When cougars sprint our legs come close together to run faster. This can help us catch prey. If a cougar craves to inform another animal how it feels, it will twitch its ears and tail to grab the attention of the animal and then they will rub each other to show their feelings. When a cougar scampers, the toe doesn’t touch the ground, so when you notice cougar’s tracks in the snow both tracks will look the same. Just like any other cat or dog the cougar wags its tail when happy, but there’s one thing about the tail that’s different, the cougar’s tail can grow up to five feet long. The cougar’s guard hairs protect delicate wool and when it starts to rain or snow the guard hairs start to shed and they grow back on a sonny day. Whenever it’s a sunny day cougars enjoy lying down on a sunny, comfortable rock. Cougars are color blind, which means they can only see black, white, and shades of gray. When a cougar’s filthy, it will lick itself to clean itself and when it needs to clean behind the ears it will lick his paw and spread it behind the ears. The cougar’s tongue is covered in short, sharp hooks, to clean short scarps from bones and to clean it’s body. The cougar wouldn’t be able to move so quietly if it wasn’t for it’s broad, heavy paws with four toes and a thumb on each paw with a leather pad on the bottom of each paw to help keep of splinters. The cougar has a pocket in their paws that hold the very sharp curved claw which are about the size as a human’s big toe. If you ever watched a cat jump you’d notice most of the jumping power come from their hind legs.

Our claws are about the size of a humans big toe nail.

They lick themselves to become clean and will lick it’s paws to get behind the ears.

My jumping power comes from the hind legs.

.

When a cougar spots his or her prey, they attack it immediately even if their not hungry. In the winter time, if there’s not enough deer for to eat the cougar has to hunt smaller animals to stay alive. If a cougar spots its prey hiding in a tree, the cougar will hiss and scratch until the it comes down .When a cougar spots their prey, they’ll bite the back of their neck to kill them and then they’ll depart their delicious prey back to their territory. The cougar’s main prey are deer. Other cougars prey are, beavers, sheep, goat, coyotes, lupines, raccoons, peccaries, pig, mice, rabbit, hares, birds, grasshoppers, moose, mountain goats, bear cubs, porcupines, and mice,. When a cougar catches prey, they consume some, and then they leave the rest to devour another day. When a cougar glimpses his prey, he must seize it before the prey perceives him or her. The female cougar will spend about 50% of the day teaches the cubs how to hunt. Cougars have a short sharp hooks on the tongue to pick up scraps and bones from animal. A cougar needs to devour about nine pounds of food (that would be about 36 hamburgers) a day to stay healthy and keep strong.

Cougars favorite thing to eat is deer.

We first bite our prey with front sharp teeth.

In the cougar’s family life, they start to mate and have cubs. Cougars will mate once every two years, and female cougar will choose a male cougar, they will mate for two weeks and if they still like each other, will mate one more week, and then a cub is born. When a cub is old enough to leave a den, the mother teaches the cubs to stalk a bunny and as they become older they learn how to stalk bigger animals. When the cubs are three months old, they start learning how to hunt with their mother to prepare for adult life. Part of growing up is learning how to walk quietly which the mother teaches, the cougar has to walk quietly so they can sneak up on prey. When a cougar becomes dirty, the female must clean the cougar on the body and behind the ears, and when a cougar’s claws become to long instead of clipping them the mother sharpens them. The female prepares them by letting them chew on prey that’s already dead, chase the female’s tail, and after 3 months the female starts taking them along to hunt.

Cougars will mate two or three weeks until the female kicks the male out. The mother prepares the cubs for adult

life by letting them play.

The cougar’s habitat is usually in dry areas. Cougars mostly reside in parched areas to keep warm. They also reside in mountain areas. Once a cougar finds open territory, it will guard it safely by scratching on trees and spraying urine to tell other animals “I live here”. cougars homes are in large mountain territories, so any animal that passes will be attacked for dinner. Once a cougar discovers a territory, it will guard it safely, so it can locate enough food for a day or two. The cougar will scratch on trees and spray urine on different places to mark it’s large protective territory .

The cougar’s protection is very protective and intriguing .Cougar’s are one of the biggest wildcats and when they’re angry they will hiss at whatever their angry at. When a cougar witnesses a predator, we’ll ascend up a tree and when the predators saunter under us, we’ll jump out the tree cougars with our claws out and land on the predator with our claws in the predator’s back. Did you know we can jump from 65 feet high and still land on our feet? It’s easy to blend in because we have patches of black and white on our body to blend in. We posses small heads which makes it simple to hide behind trees. When a cougar attacks a person it won’t stop until you hit it hard or make a loud banging noise. When a cougar attacks prey it will bite, scratch, and pounce until the prey’s dead.

Cougars will climb up a tree or hide in a bush when they spot a predator and when the predator comes close the cougar will jump on the back with the claws out to kill the predator .
