A Report on INDUSTRIAL TOUR
RTTC, BSNL, AHMEDABAD

Our tour was started with lots of excitement & enthusiasm.
We were visited two place during our industrial visit.
1st Place: RTTC, BSNL Ahmedabad Mr. Ajay Shrivastav was well
coming us at RTTC,BSNL. We visited 12 labs that was based on
networking. We visited following labs at RTTC,BSNL Ahmedabad
FTTH( Fiber to the Home)
MLLN (Managed Lease line Network)
Network Lab
Broadband Lab
OFC Lab (Optical Fiber Communication Lab)
C-DOT Lab
Telecom Museum
2nd Place: CMTS Vastrapur, Vastrapur, Ahmedabad Mr. Sadhu and
Mr. Mehul Goel were the co ordinator for explaing the mobile
communications at BSNL, Vastrapur. We visited following labs at
CMTS Vastrapur.
MSC (Mobile Switching Center)
BSC (Base Station Controller)
BTS(Base Transciver Station)
OMCR(Operation & Maintainance Center)
GSM(Global System for Mobile Communication)

They explained details about their courses and training on
projects. They also introduced their two sites which contains
details about their courses and related time duration

Afterwards we were divided into three groups of 15 students in
each,and we were escorted towards different labs by their experts.
The students asked a lot of questions and all the experts were very
confident in their answers and also none of the questions by the
students were left unanswered at 11:00 am at Conference hall of
RTTC,BSNL.
Mr. Ajay Shrivastav explained about their network and their
contribution in the field of education in telecommunication. In
ealier days they were only providing training to their
employees.but now a days these courses are also available for
students. They invested Rs.2 crores just for their broadband
lab.

Prof. Bhavin Gurjar & Prof. Nikul Virparia were with all
studnets in auditorium hall at RTTC,BSNL.
At Product and service lab
This was the product lab and service lab where they explained
the FTTH lab.They explained first with landline then after brodband
connection. We came to know about the information like splitter
2*32,1*16,1*8 are used to connect more than 1 or 2 peoples phone
line connectionin one box and inside this cupler & D-cupler
technique is used using time division.

Then after we visited OFC(Optical Fibre Connection) lab ,there
we came to know the knowledge of working of OFC system,we came to
know how the converting of electical signal into optical signal is
done,like this we got to know there use of unlimited bandwidth for
ther system.
Prof. Avni Patel with co ordinator of switching lab, In
switching lab there we came to know the switching process for
networking,then we were shown the cupboard having several frames
& their working.

Later after that we vsited the underground cable labhere we were
given a very good introduction about how the connection is done
,what type of material they use for different type of soil ,there
estimate for these connection.is near about 20,000 to 25,000 for
only one land line connection.so it was very nice experience to
know about landline connecion

During the CMTS,Vastrapur visit, Mr. Sadhu & Mr. Goel
explained us the live working of BSC, BTS,MSC & GSM. For each
they are having the individual control room. We were got following
live information during CMTS visit:
Comunication between GMSC to MSC
Communication between MSC to BTS
Communication between BTS to BSC
With Maintainance Center we came to know how back up servers are
working during the absence of real server due to power failre or
other reason.
Thus the beautiful journey of our industrial tour reached to a
happy and beautiful conclusion wherein each and every one gain lots
of knowledge based on networking & mobile communication on
making this event a memorable event in our entire college life.
