Our solutions for ‘smarter’ healthcare

The problem(s)

Lots of time, energy and money is spent on finding out & keeping track of the ‘people-we-care-about’.

The important role of parents in care Parents care for their children and care about their parents; whether it concerns healthy or chronically ill

persons, as is the case with epilepsy. Caring is an ongoing concern which can consume considerable time from

parents and from doctors (GPs) when medical attention is required. The involvement of a doctor in the care

circle adds a new dimension; from then one multiple people will be caring for a patient – and each person has,

information on the patient; information that has to be shared.

The parents & doctors needs In this modern day and age, (busy) parents, need reliable and efficient solutions to support their care efforts;

solutions that are easy to use and without the need to manually administer & facilitate care efforts. Efficient

solutions are what both the parents and GPs need.

Our solution(s)

Wearables for remote monitoring, a Personal Dossier to save & share, alerts and a dashboard

Wearables that detect a fall and epilepsy monitoring Our wearables detect a person’s fall and automatically start monitoring the behaviour after the fall; is he/she

moving at all, trying to get up. Personal information, such as age and the person’s history, as well as

‘environmental’ data, like (outside) temperature are used to decided if, when and who, are to be alerted.

Person Own Dossier [POD] We strongly believe in that personal and relevant, contextual, information is needed in order to provide better

insights. Your POD will ‘grow’ over time, when relevant information surfaces; information that can play a role

in your (future) health. Your POD is not a replacement of the data kept in Electronic Medical Records; instead

it’s an extension to it; and it’s yours! You decide with whom to share this data (of course you’ll always share

this with your doctor!).

Dashboard We provide a unified dashboard, combining data from multiple sources. Rather than applications which all

have their own dashboard, this dashboard is independent of the application. By combining sensor data and

context data information will become even more useful. We will provide an API; which will allow

dashboard/reporting tools to ‘tap’ into the database with their tools, given our users even more freedom of

choice.

Delivering solutions which will be common 4 Years From Now [4YFN]

We are, and will be, leading innovation in eCare, providing solutions that make a difference today and in the

years to come. Our solutions are build on a solid and open IT foundation; empowering a new generation of

knowledge workers to make their contributions to smarter healthcare.

Technological advancements & process efficiency innovate & drive change The Internet of Things [IoT] makes it possible to embed smart devices, such as wearables, in our daily lives and

healthcare processes. Maximum benefits will only be realized when patients and their caretakers, like parents,

are in the position to take advantage the decision support provided by smart IT solutions. Which is why many

processes must be re-engineered; it simply doesn’t make sense to implement today’s exciting technologies in

IT systems which IT concepts originated in the 90’s.

Family care/patient 1st Our family care solution provides a prime example how our open platform optimizes doctor-patient self-care.

Our solutions are ‘open’ to 3rd parties: sensor/IoT & dashboard vendors

We provide our own wearables and we connect other wearables. We combine data from multiple sensors into

one dashboard.

Harmony: empowering knowledge workers Forget about coding; it’s all about configuration! Our 5th generation platform empowers non-IT people to solve

complex IT in 20% of the time; simply by using a spreadsheet format for creating business rules applications.

Harmony features include: predictive / decision management, case management, workflow, business rules,

data stores and, a superb document mail/merge generator. It minimizes the involvement of IT developers;

thus saving time and money and providing higher quality solutions!

Our markets, targets & business model

Our focus is Europe; within 10 European countries we have identified two target groups: frail elderly people

living away from their children, often in rural areas, and epilepsy patients.

Business model Income is generated from hosting revenue (platform license fees), wearable sales and (recurring) user

subscriptions.

Go To market strategy

Our solution address GPs and parents needs; which is why we work with doctor associations to help GPs with

solutions that lessen the patient/GP interaction and, in the near future, lessen the admin burden.

Insurance & ambulance (emergency) care What we deliver is much more than a ‘standard’ solution; real business value is delivered by our innovative

‘open’ portal solution. We add value, save costs in a way never seen before, and shorten implementation of

new solutions.

Patient interest groups EpiStrap – our Epilepsy monitoring service is an unique solution that helps Epilepsy patients and their

caretakers by providing better insights. We work with patient interest groups – to provide the best solution

possible at a very affordable price.

Online campaigns We’ll be initiating, with insurance companies, direct campaigns; focussing on new care propositions.

Uniqueness & competition

We provide an open platform; accessible to other vendors – both hardware and software vendors. Our

monitoring wearable for epilepsy patients is unique; there’s only one competing product in the world.

Other than Philips (who have their own proprietary hardware and software/platform) and Apple (ditto), our

solution is open to any smart [IoT] device.

The team that brings you Smarter Health

We operate out of South-Africa and The Netherlands; the South-African team focuses on wearables and

epilepsy, as the team has in-depth knowledge of epilepsy. This combination allows us to provide truly

innovative solutions - with the Dutch team providing state-of-the-art IT/software.

What to expect in the future

Once we’ve launched our primary products in May 2016 we’ll be focusing on more solutions for self-care –

removing human intervention where this is possible; our Medication advice service is a sample of a service

we’re working on; it’s a voice controlled service (Dutch and English) allowing questions to be answered by a

smart service.
