AAI sponsor companies, Pfizer and Takeda, par�cipated in AAI events at AORTIC 2017. AAI Workshops BVGH organized workshops focused on core elements of AAI. Par�cipants included African oncologists, academic leaders, sponsor companies, and government officials. Capacity Building: Workshop par�cipants outlined oncology capacity needs and framed ac�vi�es to build this capacity. Clinical Trials: Workshop discussions focused on building clinical trial capacity and implemen�ng oncology studies through AAI’s African Consor�um for Cancer Clinical Trials (AC 3 T). Rwanda Joins AAI BVGH and Rwanda formalized their partnership at a signing ceremony and press conference with the Minister of Health, Dr. Diane Gashumba, and BVGH President, Jennifer Dent. Rwanda became the fi�h country to join the ini�a�ve. BVGH met with the First Lady of Rwanda, Madame Jeanne�e Kagame, and the Minister of Health, Dr. Diane Gashumba, to discuss the AAI partnership and the government’s goals to address cancer in the country. AAI Testimonials BVGH interviewed African clinicians, government representa�ves, pathologists, and hospital execu�ves to learn about the reali�es of managing cancer in Africa. AAI Symposium AORTIC 2017 opened with the AAI Symposium, which featured AAI partners from government, academia, and industry. Rwanda’s Minister of Health began the session by endorsing AAI and discussing BVGH's partnership with Rwanda.
