Tenby International Primary School (TIPS) Head of School’s Letter to Parents
Dear Parents,
This week I have been impressed with the wide range of fantastic learning taking place across the school. Year 3 have been produced an amazing array of dinosaur models for a class display as part of their ‘Footprints from the past’ IPC unit.
Year 6 have carried out experiments with parachutes as part of their Science lessons. Year 4 have been writing Non-chronological reports about Tigers whilst Year 5 have been learning about solids, liquids and gases. I look forward to seeing you all at our Parents Consultation meetings on Wednesday 12th where you will get to see lots of these displays of learning. If you haven’t yet signed up, please do so via the portal. For Year 2-Year 6 and to see language teachers.
Regards

Phonics success
Congratulations to the children above who have all completed Phase 3 of the Phonics programme. They have been in Ms Malathi’s group for the past term and have shown great skills in listening, spelling and writing. They are all now ready and excited to start Phase 4 this week. Jae Hwan, Zayana, Thomas, Lucas, Christina, Alice and Mun Fong, you are all Phonics Stars!
Handwriting
Handwriting and presentation are important in all writing that we do. Children in Key Stage 2 work towards a pen licence, which they receive when their writing is consistently joined, neat and fluent.
I am pleased that over the past few weeks 3 more children have received their pen licences: Charlotte & Ee Jin Year 6, along with Carl from year 4.
I look forward to issuing more pen licences over the term.

Tenby International Secondary School (TISS)
The term is warming up and continues to get busier on a daily basis. The staff and students continue to work hard to challenge themselves and make progress across many areas of the school.
This year we have introduced Parent Information Evenings for all year groups to enhance the communication between parents and school. Thank you to all the parents for attending. These have not only been effective in sharing key information and relevant dates specifically for your child's year group, we hope it has also given a useful insight into how we support the Cambridge attributes of confidence, innovative, responsible, reflective and engaged, and the vast amount of opportunities we have for your child to get involved in at Tenby Schools this year.
Year 7 & 8 and year 9 have taken place and the presentations shared over the parent portal. Still to go ahead:
Year 10 Parent Information Evening – Monday 10 October Year 11, 12 and 13 Parent Information Evening – Wednesday 12 October
Rock Of Ages: The cast, band and stage crew continue to work incredibly hard in preparation for the opening night of Rock of Ages. TISS students had a sneak preview of the show in assembly on Friday and the cast have been flash mobbing around the school over the last few days to create the buzz of excitement and promote the show. Come and show your support at Penang PAC at Straits Quay on 19/20 October. Buy your ticket at the secondary office.
Sport Fixtures:
Our PE department kick started the season last week and swam in to collect the gold and silver at the swim meet at Uplands School. A strong start from our swim team who show talent and confidence across all age groups under Mr Yorain's coaching.

Improvements to our site:
We have asked all our students to complete a survey to help us improve our cafeteria. We want to hear from the students their thoughts on how we can provide an improved service. If your child missed out on completing the survey here is the link:
