Postal AutomaticService SystemPASS is a 365-day self-servicemachine which accepts andstores mail pieces frompostcards to small parcels.Customer selects a postalservice on the menu screen andputs in his mail piece throughthe mail input door which isopened automatically. After amail piece is put in by thecustomer, the door is closedand the postage is determinedand displayed to the customerautomatically by measuring theweight and size of the mailpiece without illegal interventionby the customer. The customerpays the postage by card, coinsor bank notes, and then thepostage label or stamp ofprecise amount is printed out tothe customer and the mail inputdoor is opened. The customertakes out the mail piece andattaches the postage label onthe mail piece and put in themail piece again through themail input window. PASS finallyverifies the mail piece andstores it into the internalstorage area. If the customerwants a receipt, it is printed outto him. All the transaction datais saved in the internalcomputer and can betransmitted to external postalserver by a networkcommunication.
