    APPLICATIONS

Welding of 570MPa high tensile strength steel for bridges, machinery andstructures.

    CHARACTERISTICS

NITTETSU SF-60 is a rutile type seamless flux cored arc welding wire to be usedwith CO2 shield gas and was designed with emphasis on crack resistance in thewelding of thick plates. The diffusible hydrogen content is as low as that of solidwires and crack resistance is excellent even in the low heat input welding of thickplates.

    GUIDELlNES FOR USAGE

    1. Water, rust, paint and oil in groove should be removed completely since theymay cause low temperature cracks and blowholes.2. Select optimum welding parameters, heat input for example, in accordance

with plate thickness, welding position, etc. Excessive heat input may causelack of joint strength.

    3. Preheating at 50~150C is required depending on plate thickness, restraint, heat input, etc.

    4. For others, see GUIDELINES FOR USAGE 1~4 of NITTETSU SF-1.

    APPLICATIONS

Welding of SM570, SPV450 and 590MPa high tensile strength steel (WEL-TEN590) for penstocks, storage tanks, pressure vessels, bridges, offshore structures

    and machinery.

    CHARACTERISTICS

NITTETSU L-60 is an extra low hydrogen type electrode with high resistance

to moisture absorption. Weldability in all positions, mechanical properties and

X-ray quality are excellent. Weld metal shows satisfactory crack resistance due to

its extremely low diffusible hydrogen content.

    GUIDELlNES FOR USAGE

    1. Electrodes should be redried at 350~400C for 60 minutes before use.

    2. Preheating in accordance with the type of steel, plate thickness, restraint, etc.,

    i. e. at 50~100C for a 35mm thick plate, is necessary to prevent cracks.

    3. Welding with excessively high heat input, i.e. more than 55 kJ/cm for a 35mm

thick plate, should be avoided to assure strength and toughness of weld.
