Augmented Category 6 UTP Cable

Description10GPlus cables are high bandwidth cables for use in horizontal wiring in structured cabling installations, in datacentres and SANs and in shorter length backbones. The new UTP cable construction combines superior levels of pair balance with an innovative, patent pending, finished cable geometry (which is specially designed to reduce ‘Alien’ crosstalk) to provide an industry leading level of cable transmission performance.

The key signal to noise ratios for cables which will run the 10GBASE-T application are the attenuation to ‘Alien’ crosstalk ratios. ‘Alien’ crosstalk is a noise picked up by a cable from adjacent cables when cables run together in spaces and pathways. Brand-Rex 10GPlus cables also have an industry leading ‘Alien’ crosstalk to insertion loss performance.

Features and Benefits

• A UTP cable ready for the new 10GBASE-T application • ‘Reuleaux’ shaped cable which is more flexible and lighter than

equivalent diameter round cables• A design which incorporates very highly balanced pairs • Designed to meet the Alien Crosstalk requirements of 10GBASE-T (with

performance verified in 100m length testing for both the cable and the channel configurations)

• Designed with a useable bandwidth which exceeds 500MHz (+ve PSACR to 500MHz and +ve PSAACR beyond 500MHz)

• Cabling system performance guaranteed to meet Class EA channel limits when 10GPlus cables are installed as part of a 10GPlus installation

Augmented Category 6 Screened Cable

Description10GPlus cables are high bandwidth cables for use in horizontal wiring in structured cabling installations, in datacentres and SANs and in shorter length backbones. The key signal to noise ratios for cables which will run the new 10GBASE-T application are the attenuation to ‘Alien’ crosstalk ratios. ‘Alien’ crosstalk is a noise picked up by a cable from adjacent cables when cables run together in spaces and pathways.

The 10GPlus screened cables combine an industry leading level of cable transmission performance with screening technology which provides the ultimate protection against noise external to the transmission line. The screening removes the problems of ‘Alien’ crosstalk and provides security against electromagnetic noise from the environment.

Features and BenefitsΔ

• Screened cables ready for the new 10GBASE-T application

• A design which uses screening technology to protect the transmission

line from noise from adjacent cables (Alien Crosstalk) and the

environment (EMI)

• Low Smoke and Fume Zero Halogen cable jacket materials as standard

• Designed to meet the performance requirements of 10GBASE-T (with

performance verified in 100m length testing for both cable and channel

configurations)

• Designed with a useable bandwidth which exceeds 500MHz (+ve

PSAACR well beyond 500MHz)

• Cabling system performance guaranteed to meet Class EA Channel

limits when 10GPlus cables are installed as part of a 10GPlus installation

The AC6 cable provides a foundation for building reliable high speed, Local Area Networks to support transmission of Class A, B, C, D and E protocols currently defined in ISO 11801 and EN 50173 and the new draft Class EA protocol from IEEE, 10GBASE-T.

High speed LAN protocols supported include:• ATM155, 10BASE-T, 100BASE-T, 1000BASE-T • 10GBASE-T when IEEE802.3an is published• Other applications supported include voice, broadband video and PoE

Cable StandardsThe cable is compliant with:• ISO 11801:2002, ISO 61156-5, EN 50173-1:2002, EN 50288-5-1

ANSI/TIA/EIA 568B, ANSI/TIA/EIA 568B.2-1It is also designed to be compliant with the following draft standards when they are published: • ISO 11801:2002 Amm1.1, ISO 61156-5 ed 2 , EN 50173-1 ed2

EN 50288-10-1, ANSI/TIA/EIA 568B.2-10

Physical SpecificationsInstallation recommendations:• Min bend radius during install: 65mm• Min bend radius post install: 32mm • Max tensile load per cable: 10kg • Min install temp: 0°C / Max install temp: 50°C• Upper operational temp rating: 75°C

Electrical SpecificationsPrimary Characteristics:• Conductor loop resistance <19 Ω/100m• Conductor resistance unbalance <2 %• Capacitance unbalance to earth <1200 pF/km• Insulation resistance ≥500 MΩ.km

Secondary Characteristics:• Mean characteristic impedance 100± 5Ω @100 MHz • NVP 74% @ 10MHz • Max skew 20ns

Because of the screening the cable construction easily passes the performance requirements stipulated in all of the standards when tested to any of the methods described.
