Dave Holland and Julian Joseph lead a once-in-a-lifetime celebration of the creative energy and depth of variety in British Jazz: performing together for the very first time as part of a unique and eclectic programme.

Leading musicians in British jazz from across the generations and styles will perform together in a dual celebration of the 10th anniversary of the National Youth Jazz Collective, and 100 years of recorded jazz. In many cases they will appear in combinations never witnessed before.

Since 2007 NYJC has been uncovering England’s finest young jazz talent, selecting up to 45 of the nation’s most talented and gifted young jazz musicians to take part in an extraordinary week of world class tutoring and non-stop creativity.

The results are always stunning and this year’s concert will be no exception, as five combos of extraordinarily gifted 14-18 year olds take to the stage with new-found confidence, agility and enthusiasm to share in a celebratory programme drawing on the last 100 years of our nation’s unique and vibrant jazz scene.

This performance will undoubtedly show how NYJC continues to play a formative role in shaping the future of jazz in the UK.

Hosted by NYJC’s visionary Founder and Artistic Director, Issie Barratt, who has steered the organisation from its first pilot summer school of 2007 to becoming a fully-fledged Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation in 2015 – tirelessly serving young people across the nation. Issie will be joined by our President Dave Holland and NYJC’s outstanding team of tutors (all of whom are playing in this evening’s All Star concert).

Due to limited capacity and a need to guarantee seats for the young performers' families, a limited number of (free) seats are available to this concert on a first come first served basis.

Through images, objects, recordings and stories visitors can discover why our students are blessed to be joining one of the most vibrant and eclectic musical movements on the planet.

Reserve some time to wander through the basement foyer and consider how the musicians you hear through the day will not only be inheriting from the past but also writing the future as they pick up on the raw inventiveness that jazz personifies! www.nationaljazzarchive.co.uk
