PRFILE and FIFILE Parameter List Overview of PRFILE and FIFILE parameters
Id:0900d8058075d096Confidential
1 Overview of PRFILE and FIFILE parametersParameters are handled in the BSC with the aid of three parameter files: PRFILE (General Parameter File), FIFILE (Feature Information Control File) and PAFILE (BSC Control Parameter File). All the information about controlling the basic software and application software of the BSC is stored in the PRFILE and FIFILE. The files are admin-istered (modification, output) with the Parameter Handling MML (WO command group). PAFILE is used for storing modified values of GSM/BSC parameters.
PRFILE and FIFILEThe BSC has a set of application software solutions which are not included in the basic software but the customer can choose them to be included (optional). There is also a set of application software solutions which are typical in all BSCs but the extent of their use depends on the delivery (standard).
All the information about controlling the above software is assembled in the BSC in the PRFILE (General Parameter File) and the FIFILE (Feature Information Control File). The FIFILE file has been created for optionality parameters from the PRFILE. The FIFILE file is located in all computer units into which it is loaded from OMU disk. The FIFILE contains parameters which control the new application software and the activa-tion status of the new optionality parameters. Both the FIFILE and the PRFILE are generic files. The same FIFILE(GX) is used for every network element. You can modify and interrogate the contents of the files with the Parameter Handling MML WO command group commands.
For more detailed instructions on the commands and their parameters, see WO - Parameter Handling under Reference/Commands/MML Commands.
Interrogating and modifying standard, S9 and previous releases' optional param-etersTo interrogate the value of a standard delivery parameter, use the command WOI.
To modify the value of a standard delivery parameter, or S9 and previous releases' optional delivery parameter, use the command WOC.
Interrogating and modifying S10 and later optional parametersTo list and output BSC S10 or later application software, use the command WOS.
To activate or deactivate a BSC S10 or later application software, use the command WOA.

DescriptionThe BTS makes realtime update to Q1 bus transmission equipment periodically. BTS clock is quite inaccurate, 6 to 8 seconds per day. Therefore transmission equipment realtime varies quite a lot. The BTS realtime updating is done periodically by using existing update feature. The TQHPRB sends periodically time_changed_event_s message to the GUPDAT that sends new time to each BTS found from RNW DB. This parameter defines the number of realtime updates made in a day. Possible values are 0 to 4 times per day, zero means that updating is not on and 1 is default value. First realtime update is made at 05:00.

3.5.5 Parameter 016:0007 BTS_ALARM_FILTERING_USE
Descriptive nameBase Station alarm filtering in BSC, use of
ModifiableYES
DescriptionThe operator can use the parameter to prevent filtering of base station alarms in the BSC. However, filtering of the base station alarms to the recovery interface remains in use after prevention.
Value Meaning
0D The state of alarm outputs is updated only when the first alarm controlling a certain alarm output is set, or when the last alarm controlling a certain alarm output is cancelled. Thus the lamp panel buzzer is activated only when no alarms controlling a certain alarm output are active and the first alarm of the kind is set. New alarms controlling an alarm output which is already in alarm state do not cause activation of the buzzer.
1D Each time a new alarm controlling an alarm output is set, the state of all the alarm outputs is first reset and then immediately set again according to the current alarm situation. With this, the lamp panel buzzer is activated each time a new alarm control-ling an alarm output is set.

3.9.1 Parameter 046:0046 MEMORY_OUT_FLAG_SUM
Descriptive nameMemory out flag sum
ModifiableYES
DescriptionIf a mobile station having an EGPRS TBF in DL direction has not enough memory to perform Incremental Redundancy operations, it will indicate this to the network by setting the MS Out of Memory flag in the EGPRS Packet Downlink Ack/Nack message to the value of 1. If the PCU receives from the mobile station memory_out_of_flag_sum consecutive EGPRS Packet Downlink Ack/Nack messages having MS Out of Memory flag set to 1, then the MS Out of Memory condition is activated by the PCU. During the MS Out of Memory condition the PCU applies to the DL TBF a more robust MCS than suggested by the LA algorithm. The MS Out of Memory condition is cleared when the

DescriptionThis parameter defines the maximum time accepted for a Packet Flow Timer (PFT) during a BSS Packet Context Creation or Modification procedure. A PFT timer indicates the maximum time that the BSS may store the non-Real Time BSS packet flow context. The PFT timer is started when the BSS packet flow context is stored in the BSS and when an LLC frame is received from the MS. When the BSS packet flow timer expires, the BSS shall delete the BSS packet flow context.

3.9.35 Parameter 046:0105 DTM_CALL_ASSIGN_TIMER
Descriptive nameDTM call assignment timer
ModifiableYES
DescriptionThis parameter defines the length for a timer that is used to supervise the DTM call establishment procedure at the PCU. The value of this parameter is larger than the value of the timer T3107. The DTM call assignment is successful when the PCU receives a valid RLC/MAC block from the mobile. The timer is then stopped. The DTM call assign-ment is unsuccessful when the supervising timer expires. The assigned TBF is then abnormally released.

Descriptive nameDTM Multislot Class 11 mobile extended dynamic allocation mode support
ModifiableYES
DescriptionThis parameter determines whether the PCU is allowed to assume that a DTM Multislot Class 11 mobile supports extended dynamic allocation mode. The assumption is possible because the only difference between the capabilities of DTM Multislot Class 9 and DTM Multislot Class 11 is the configuration that requires EDA for operation. With this assumption the PCU is able to allocate 2 UL PS timeslots for a DTM Multislot Class 11 at the MO DTM call establishment if EDA is supported in the network.Note that in the MO DTM call establishment there is no explicit indication available about the mobiles EDA capability.
