Psychological Contract definition:

The expectations that employees have about the role

that they play within the business and what the

employer is prepared to give them in return. Theobligations will typically be informal and imprecise.

The term psychological contract was first used in the

1960s and became more commonly Know in the

early 1990s.

Research completed between 2000 and 2002

varied between Old Vs New

Also known as the traditional psychological contract, this is usually best

described as an offer of commitment by the employee in return for job

security provided by the employer, sometimes referred to as job for life.

The old psychological contract is also thought to provide an internal careerprogression.
