Trade activity was active on very good buyer demand. In the sheep supply 13% slaughter lambs, 50% slaughter ewes and bucks and 37% feeder lambs. The goat supply consisted of 72% slaughter kids, 18% slaughter nannies and 10% slaughter billies and wethers. Sheep and lambs sold on a per cwt basis and goats sold on a per head basis unless otherwise noted.

STATE AND FEDERAL REPORTINGCompared to last week: Steers under 500 lbs traded mostly 10.00 higher, over 500 lbs traded 1.00 – 5.00 higher. Not enough comparable sales for an adequate market trend on heifers, however a firmer undertone was noted. Trading activity was active on very good buyer demand. The supply included approximately 98% feeder cattle with the balance consisting of replacement stock. In the feeder supply 65% steers and 35% heifers. About 52% of the feeder supply weighed over 600 lbs.

Wednesday, October 23, 2013At auction: over 500 head of weigh cows and bulls were represented today. Bulls were higher, ranging in the mid 90’s to 103.00. Beef cows lower this week for fat cows averaging in the mid 90’s. A large bunch of smooth, well fleshed cows from panaca, nv topped the market. Lean cows were strong, ranging from 80.00-88.00. Holstein cows were slightly higher this week, with lean cows averaging in the mid to high 70’s and, and fat holstein cows bringing 83.50- 87.50.Below are representative sales:
