A Principal message full of love and thanks…
It was wonderful to see so many of you on such a hot night at
our picnic. It was so much fun celebrating our wonderful year with
you all and some of our new students.
Thank you to our whole school community for your trust and
support of our school, staff and students. We have had a highly
successful year with our students achieving excellence
academically, socially and emotionally. There were so many
highlights this year. I looked back over our Facebook page over the
weekend and we truly have a wonderful community. Our photos of
teaching and learning demonstrates the excellence that we strive
for every day. We also have a range of additional activities and
events that ensure our students have a well balanced education and
have exposure to different activities to enable talents and
interests. My highlights this year have been our first Study Tour
to Canberra, our drumming and the weekly posts from different
grades that demonstrate the high quality education in our
classrooms.
I wanted to thank all of our teachers who work tirelessly for
each and every student at the school. They work so hard every day
to ensure they can be the very best teacher for every student at
our school. I know that during this time of year, they are
exhausted but they have still put in 100% this week.
Thank you to our wonderful Admin staff, ES and support staff. We
could not do it without you. You make every day a pleasure to be at
work.
I have such a wonderful leadership team, who is always there to
support me in the decisions I make for school improvement and the
endless support they give to our teachers and our students.
I want to thank the following teachers who will be leaving us at
the end of this year, Michael, Erin, Wendy, Shirin and Yanyu. The
staff and students thank you for your dedication to our students
and wish you all the very best for the future.
I want to thank Jen again, as she prepares to make her Principal
journey at Footscray Primary. Jen has achieved so much at her time
at Derrimut and her work in numeracy, student engagement and
connecting with our community has made our school truly exemplary
in this area. I am so going to miss her not being at Derrimut.
I hope you all have a safe and restful Christmas, New Year and
school holidays. I look forward to working with you all next year.
Our first day back for students in Years 1-6 is Wednesday 29th
January 2020. Our Prep students will begin on Thursday 30th January
2020. I am so looking forward to 2020, Happy Holidays.

Whole School Picnic Thanks to all of those who braved the
extreme weather to come together as a school community and
celebrate another fabulous year of learning and memories. The
picnic was a great success. Thanks to all of your generosity as a
community for the donations leading up to the night and your
contributions at the picnic also. The picnic is not a fundraiser
for the school and our aim is to make enough money to cover the
costs of the entertainment, food and drinks. Thanks again and a
special thanks to those who loaned us eskies and to Sarah &
Troy Mahoney for the trailer!
Camp, Sports and Excursions Fund
(CSEF)
The Camps, Sports and Excursions
Fund helps ensure that no student
misses the opportunity to join their
classmates for important,
educational and fun activities.
If you hold a valid means-tested
concession card or are a temporary
foster parent, you may be eligible
for CSEF. A special consideration
category also exists for asylum
seeker and refugee families. The
allowance is paid to the school to
use towards expenses relating to
camps, excursions or sporting
activities for the benefit of your
child.
The annual CSEF amount per
student is $125 for primary
school students.
2020 CSEF application forms
will be available at the office
in Term 1.
