    Introduction

As a kid, I loved summer. I counted down the days until school ended for

the year. Summer meant spending the majority of my time in the place I

loved most. . .home. It also meant playtime, friends, adventure, and lots of

water. Now that Im a mom, I see that summer means much the same to

my three children. And while I still love the lazy days of summer, it is

important to me, while my children are still young, that I take advantage of

the precious few summers I have with them.

Summer is valuable family time, but it is also an excellent time for training.

I want to teach my children life skills, responsibility, and self-fulfillment. I

dont want to see their education come to a complete halt over the summer.

My goal is to encourage my children to continue to learn through play,

books, and experiences. However, theres a lot of competition for attention

when children are at home: video games, computers, cell phones, television

and movies. It sometimes feels like I am fighting a battle between screen

    activity, boredom, and mandatory fun.

Welcome to the Fourth edition of 100 Days of Summertime! There are three

members of the 100 Days series of eBooks. They are written to take you

through the busiest times of the year. Be sure to check out our other

members of the 100 Days family of blogs and eBooks: 100 Days of a New

Are you ready to get started?

Our first Summertime Strategy goal is to

create a summer planner. If you prefer a

three-ring binder, then you will need a

    three-hole punch, 5 to 8 tabbed dividers

(preferably with pockets), and possibly a

zipper pocket to hold pens and odds-and-

ends. If you prefer a more digital

approach, try a folder on your computer,

a Pinterest board, Evernote, etc. A

summer planner is a great place to keep
