The new AMS, which has replaced Taskstream as Peralta’s official repository of assessment-related materials, promises to integrate in one comprehensive system Course Outlines of Record, program reviews/APUs, and all levels of outcome analysis. The session will feature an overview of CurriQunet’s functionality and a primer on entering outcome data. Department and cluster chairs—or their designated assessment leads—are encouraged to attend, particularly those who didn’t make it to last fall’s SLOAC presentation. Facilitated by COA's SLOACs in A-225 Excel Training for Faculty & Staff Do you need help creating spreadsheets or performing advanced data analysis with functions, formulas, and charts...? Unlock the potential of MS Excel in this informative training with COA's IT Guru -- Michael Duensing. Facilitated by Michael Duensing in A-232 Let's Talk: Improving Education Through First-Hand Empiricism All too often, faculty are told about data and statistics that support pedagogical theories yet contradict classroom experience. Rarely are faculty asked to share their first-hand observations and ad-hoc solutions to actual and immediate students needs. Since no one's asking about our mutual observations, let's meet and share them among ourselves. Let's talk about the problems we face with students and the problems we see students facing themselves. Let's share the solutions we've devised to meet out empirical challenges. Facilitated by Jay Rubin in C-208 Faculty Learning Program: Improving Stem Education The Transforming STEM Teaching Faculty Learning Program (FLP) is a professional learning program for all university and college instructors of STEM courses. The FLP was written and developed for dissemination at U.C. Berkeley through an NSF grant. The goal of the FLP is to improve student achievement in STEM undergraduate courses through deepening faculty’s understanding of how people learn, change teaching behavior to support student learning, engage STEM faculty in habits of reflection and nurture a tradition of continued learning about teaching. PCCD will be leading our own FLP cohort starting in Fall 2019 co-facilitated by Vanson Nguyen, who will be facilitating this Flex day activity.
