The program will provide assistance in purchasing hearing aids and dental services as well as prescription medication, eyeglasses, nutritional supplements, medical equipment and supplies. The Haywood Junior High Warriors defeated Fayette East in a conference matchup 20 – 12 last Tuesday night. The Warriors were led behind the strong performance of Malik Walker with 156 yards rushing. David Johnson added 43 yards rushing and two touchdowns, and Martravious Washington also scored a rushing touchdown. The Warriors play Covington this week for Homecoming. The Unseen Sport Some sports rarely get mentioned within the connes of small communities and fail to bring the attention of older generations. Rollerblading, dirt bikes, and skate boarding tend to be something usually left for young teenagers, as the danger of carrying it to the next level usually wards off anybody not serious about it. These sports are usually found on the likes of ESPN and some of the stunts can be so over the top that the person defying gravity can be left with broken bones and in some cases fatal injuries. Brownsville has come to encourage a new growth of this sport with the park recently built by Eastside School. This park offers a lot of newcomers to the sport a chance to hone a few aspects of the craft within the city limits. There is still much room for growth within the park as bigger ramps can be built and new ideas met. Brownsville has a talent level in this sport that for most will go unseen and unheard of. To just ride by the park and see some of the things that can happen on any given day is like going to a basketball court in the streets of New York. You never know what could come out of our small community until you witness it in person. In the world of extreme sports, if you can dream it, it can happen. The HJH Lady Warrior Volleyball Team faced Halls Jr. High last night at 6:30 p.m. The girls faced some tough competition but stayed strong defensively and had support for one another on and off the court. In the JV game, the team struggled with errors early on then fought hard to make a comeback. Player of the game was Abbey Morris for her strong serves and defensive saves. In the Varsity game, the team came out strong and defense had denitely improved among the six starters. Although they didn’t bring a win home, the girls made successful plays, sets, and serves throughout the game. Player of the Varsity game was Jeleesia Williams for her hustle and successful saves. Coach Pipkin is very proud of all these girls! Haywood’s next game is against Munford at Munford Sept. 13 at 6 p.m. No. 15 Bo Gillespie calling the play at the line of scrimmage.
