• For his own interests the importer should check,
as far as possible, that any proof of origin is
valid and that the goods covered by it are
entitled to the reduced rate of customs duty
• The importer has to make a claim (request) for a
reduced rate by entering codes in the system for
customs declaration (DSI).

Article 97t (1):
When send the verification request ?
Subsequent verifications of proofs of origin shall be
carried out
• at random or
• whenever the customs authorities of the importing
country have reasonable doubts as to:
• the authenticity of such documents,
• the originating status of the products concerned or
• the fulfilment of the other requirements.
