What is Response to Intervention (RtI):

Applying assessment data to make educational decisions

Screeners and other classroom assessments in reading and math are used to inform teachers’ instructional decisions.Screeners are given 3 times per year to

measure growth as well as identify skill strengths and deficits for every student.

Classroom assessments can be given daily, weekly and/or at the end of a chapter or unit

Why Parents need to Know about Response to Intervention: It’s a framework that MPS is implementing to

meet the diverse needs of all students in the district

Under Corrective Action parents are required to know about RtI and receive assistance in better understanding their child’s universal screening & benchmark data

Under Corrective Action parents are required to be involved in the implementation of RtI at the school and district level.

RtI is considered “best practice” 10
