Welcome to Grand Valley State University and the

Laker Village Apartment Community! We hope

you’re getting excited for the upcoming school

year! Please read throughout the rest of this

document to learn more information about Laker

Village and to meet the staff.

Laker Village is the only townhouse-style

apartment complex at Grand Valley. The property

has a ton of green space for residents to play field

games, relax in their hammocks, or cook out in

their gas grills (please leave the charcoal grills and

fire pits at home). For most apartments, common

spaces like the kitchen and living room are on the

first floor, with bedrooms and the bathroom on the

second floor; in the four-bedroom apartments,

there is an added bathroom on the first floor. Some

units are one-story apartments, plus there are a

few efficiency-style units located on the South end.

From 8am-12am, residents can visit the Laker

Village Community Centers, where they can do

laundry, check their mail, and relax in the great

rooms.

We Are Excited to See You!

Residents can visit the Laker Village Front Desk in

the North Community Center, and play volleyball

behind the South Community Center in the sand

volleyball courts.

Laker Village is conveniently located on the South

side of campus, back towards the soccer fields.

When you come for move-in day, housing staff

members will be waiting for you in the North

Community Center Great Room at 10515 Laker

Village Drive! Please keep in mind that when you

receive your Laker Village key, you officially start

your housing contract, just like a lease. This

contract is for the entire school year, and breaking

it early can incur fees for non-approved situations,

so be sure to contact Candice Cadena or Cristina

Czyrka if you are considering cancelling your

housing.

To get to know the staff, please continue onto the

next page. The last page shows some cool events

and programming for you to come to when you get

here!

Meet Your ProStaff!

Hello, Future Villagers!

We are Candice and Cristina, and we are your

professional housing staff members for Laker

Village! Together, we supervise the Resident

Assistants and the overall Laker Village community

to ensure that it is a safe, enjoyable place for

everyone who chooses to live here! Read on to get to

know us both a bit more, and be sure to stop by our

offices to say hi! We are both located in the north

community center!

6 years! When I have free time, I really enjoy

travelling abroad and within the United States. I love

camping, cooking, baking, reading, and hanging out

with my dog Oswald. You might see us walking

around the community in the mornings, so be sure

to stop and say hi! My office is located in room 103

of the north community center, and if my door is

opened, please feel free to stop in to say hi and

catch me up on how you're doing! See you soon!

Cristina Czyrka - It's Cristina here! I am starting my

completing a Masters degree in Higher Education!

My hometown in Saline, Michigan, but I completed

my undergrad degree at the University at Buffalo in

like snowboarding and any kind of water sports. My

hidden talent is I can wiggle my ears. Stop by room

113 in the north community center if you want to get

to know me more. I love meeting new people!
