New Information System (NIS): design and creation of an effective inspection database.

• Every ship eligible

• Risk profile based on:- ship particulars: type, age, flag, recognised organisation, company- inspections records: detentions, deficiencies

• Will calculate and make public:- risk profile of every ship- next periodic inspection date

Final version of proposal is not yet agreed

EU vessel traffic monitoring and information system

Obligations on Member States (Directive 2002/59)

EMSA tasks linked to Directive 2002/59 (Art 2. of Reg 1406)

Port, hazmat, ship, alert and security notifications“ensure connexions and interoperability of the National Systems used to manage the information”

SafeSeaNet, as the central pillar of the information system (future developments in PSC, LRIT…)

Automatization: AIS development

-shore-based installations

- appropriate equipment for relaying the information to and exchange it between the national systems of Member States

Monitoring of development of the infrastructure (new Database). Cooperation through network, pilot projects (HELCOM), workshops, study.

Accident/Casualty investigation

European database on maritime accidents: EMCIP(European Marine Casualty Information Platform)

• Methodology for Marine Casualty Investigation- promote and facilitate cooperation on common standards

• Data analysis - analysis of investigation reports and research of data - playback of casualty related Voyage Data Recorders (VDR)

• Disseminate statistics and information- optimal exchange of findings from investigations
