Not Only Will See That New York Garbage Scows Take-Refuse Fat Out To Sea To Avoid Any Re- turn To Shore, But Will Also Push Erection Of Incinerating Plants With All Speed. Governor Smith, at Monmouth Beach last Sunday, with Mrs. Smith and Gov. Silzer of New Jersey as guests of the Monmouth Beach Bath- ing Club, promised shore residents his support to alleviate unpleasant condi- tions along the Jersey beaches caused by the deiposit of garbage washed in from New York City’s dumping spot •off Sandy Hook. , Not only will the city scows take the refuse far enough out to avoid all possibility of it returning to shore with the tide, the Governor assured his hosts, but erection of garbage inciner- ating plants will be pushed with day and night shifts of workmen. Ocean Grove in past years has suf fcred to some extent from this cause, the beach at times being littered with the sort of refuse named. Considerable complaint ensued, but the adequate remedy was not found sitjiply because the New York garbage contractors paid little or no tieed to repeated protests. - This year so, far the Grove beach has been practically free of the trouble Now that Governor Smith has taken the matter in hand no longer will the shore section be annoyed with this great nuisance. 300,000 BOY SCOUTS CAMP ; BY COOPERATION OF CLUBS There is promise of a great crowd in Ocean Grove for the- celebration of : l.utlier Day, an annual event, Tuesday of next week.
