Establish partnerships with Wounded Warrior Coordinators to educate and assist discharging and soon to be discharged military members on how to apply for jobs with Department of the Navy (DoN), and to assist Hiring Managers in locating Wounded Warrior candidates.

Human Resources Service Center Southwest:

• To fill all Appropriated Fund jobs at Navy & Marine Corps Commands & Activities of over 300 serviced by HRSC-SW

• Fill 10,000 jobs a year (Estimated)

personnel surviving injuries that would have been fatal in any previous conflict.

Veteran Hiring (as of Jan 2010):

The Federal Government is the Nation’s leading employer of Veterans.

Nearly half a million Veterans are employed today (1 out of every 4 Federal workers) [U.S. Office of Personnel Management] 80% employed by DoD, Veterans Affairs and Homeland Security In comparison to the private sector, the Federal Government hires three times the percentage of Veterans, seven times the percentage of disabled Veterans, and ten times the percentage of severely injured Veterans

Department of the Navy Hiring (as of 28 Feb 2010):

Veterans: 114,108 (59% of the workforce)

Disabled Veterans:

• 30% or more disabled: 10,485 (5.4% of the workforce)

• Less than 30% disabled: 6,532 (3.4% of the workforce)

• FY09 hires (30% or more disabled, <35 years old): 290

• FY10 hires (30% or more disabled, <35 years old): 109

Assist Battalion’s Career and Education Officers in finding employment for wounded warriors

Assist Veterans with resume preparation, applying to CHART DON, and utilizing Veterans Hotline

Hold informal briefings at Support centers to facilitate hiring process

Our Support to the Wounded Warrior Commands has been:

• Provide placement assistance• Monthly informal briefings• Update and distribute weekly lists of eligible Wounded

Warrior candidates • Brief Wounded Warriors on hiring process and benefits

of Civil Service Employment • Offer one-on-one readiness interviews
