• King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz visited the Eastern Province he approved a recommendation that transferred the of the hospital from the ownership Ministry of Health to King Faisal University. The hospital became known as King Fahd University Hospital.

Hospital is a multi-component building and divergent functions of these elements have high complex degree, it had to be division of Elements of the hospital to the main sections fall under each other elements , and there are many methods followed to divide the hospital into different sections, and these methods are similar in most details and loggerheads minor differences between them, there are three methods for dividing the hospital:

The first method method division in accordance with the convergence of internal divisions:

• patient care areas: Convalescent beds, baby bed, self-care beds, intensive care beds, long stay bed , bed internal diseases.

• Section diagnostic - therapeutic: This includes outpatient clinics, laboratories, radiology, physical therapy, emergency receiver, blood bank, surgery, doctors offices, therapeutic services.

• extension services: Errands, procurement, distribution center, laundry, Altqaam services, pharmacy, kitchen, morgue, room service, stores, electricity, holocaust, maintenance, mechanical services

• Administrative Section : Archive includes medical (medical records, medical education) and non-medical management (personnel affairs, finances, public relations, etc ...)

• Education and Research Department

The second method: method is division according to the type of activity :

• Outpatient department: It includes private clinics and receive emergency and pharmacy.

• Department of the hospital administration .• personalized services Division: It includes laboratories and

diagnostic radiology.• Therapeutic Services Department: It includes physical therapy

and therapeutic radiology .• Internal treatment department: The Suite includes operations

and intensive care unit and the maternity ward and the central sterilization department.

• Inpatient department: Suite includes operations and nursing stations and inpatient services.

• General Services Section: The kitchen includes a the laundry, warehouses and workshops, the Holocaust and the morgue.
