a. Download the files “gear_mac.cmd” and “setup_gear_macro.cmd “ and save them into the same directory as ADAMS/View is installed

Importing MacroImporting Macro

a. Click Import a File radio button

b. Click OK

c. Right-click File to Read text box. Choose Browse…

d. Search you directory to find the folder you saved the macro.

e. Click on “setup_gear_macro”

Change UnitsChange Units

a. Click Settings menu, then Units…

The Units Settings window will appear

b. Select Centimeter from the Length pull down menu

To edit the grid size:

a. Click Settings menu, then Working Grid…

The Working Grid Settings window will appear

a. Change the Spacing text fields in X and Y to (10mm)

b. Enter Marker_3 in Center Marker text field

c. Enter ( 4.5 cm ) in Inner Radius text field

d. Enter ( 5.5 cm ) in Outer Radius text field

e. Enter 15 in Number Of Teeth text field

f. Enter ( 2.0 cm ) in Thickness text field

g. Enter pinion in Gear Name text field

h. Click Ok

Add Revolute JointAdd Revolute Joint

a. Right-click on the Joint tool stack, select Joint: Revolute tool. b. Set the Construction option menu to 1 Location and Normal to Grid. c. Left-click on the marker PART_2.MARKER_1 at the center of the cylinder. d. A joint between the cylinder and the ground is created at that location.

Add a MotionAdd a Motion

a. Right-click motion tool stack, select Rotational Motion tool

b. Enter (360d) in Speed text field

b. Right click text field in Joint Name, select Joint Pick choose the revolute joint on the pinion (JOINT_1)

c. Right click text field in Joint Name, select Joint Pick choose the revolute joint on the gear (JOINT_2)

d. Right click text field in Common Velocity Marker, select Marker Pick choose ground MARKER_1
