s A season ago, Mizzou’s entire senior class (Sami Fagan, Emily Crane and Taylor Gadbois) were selected in the 2016 National Pro Fastpitch College Draft (April 14, 2016).s The talented senior trio were each selected among the top 15 picks that evening, led by Fagan as the No. 4 overall pick to the Akron Racers. Crane fell three spots later (No. 7) to the Scrap Yard Dawgs, while Gadbois was swooped up by the Dallas Charge (No. 15). s While at Mizzou, the memorable trio each tallied All-American honors (Gadbois - 2014, Crane & Fagan - 2016), giving head coach Ehren Earleywine 13 total All-Americans under his tutelage. s To no surprise of Mizzou black and gold fans, the trio went on to have immediate success this past summer during their first respective seasons in the NPF. s Fagan earned 2016 Rookie of the Year honors with the Racers, in addition to All-NPF Team accolades at shortstop. The Dunnellon, Fla., native hit .387 with 34 runs scored, 63 hits, 10 doubles, two triples, nine home runs and 39 RBI, as she evolved into one of the league’s most feared hitters.s Gadbois used the same incredible speed and defense that made her a fan-favorite at Mizzou with the Dallas Charge, keying an “At Large” bid on the 2016 All-NPF Team. Gadbois’ 14 stolen bases ranked third in the league, while also compiling an impressive .331 average at the plate.s Crane started in all 45 of her games with the Scrap Yard Dawgs, delivering three home runs and 11 stolen bases. s Another Tiger legend, three-time First Team All-American RHP Chelsea Thomas, is also shining in the NPF. Thomas completed her fourth season in the circle with the USSSA Pride and finished top 10 in ERA.

RATHBURN & SANCHEZ LEAD POWERFUL OFFENSE
s Mizzou featured one of the top offenses in the country a season ago, as its .327 AVG (14th), 1.26 HR per game (13th), .418 OBP (17th), 6.72 runs per game (12th), .513 SLG% (20th) and 2.84 stolen bases per game (2nd) all ranked top 20 in the nation.s While the Tigers lost three of their top hitters in program history to graduation, they’ll still return plenty of firepower for the upcoming 2017 season. s Headlining this season’s Mizzou lineup will be senior Chloe Rathburn and junior Amanda Sanchez. For the second consecutive year, Rathburn earned NFCA All-Region honors. The Mission Viejo, Calif., native placed second on Mizzou in HR (15) and RBI (60) a season ago. s Rathburn was a run-producing machine all season long in 2016, as her 60 RBI were T-6th-most in a single season in Mizzou Softball history. She recorded at least one RBI in 32 games last year, including a top streak of seven consecutive games during one stretch.s Along with supplying Coach Earleywine with a steady and slick glove at 3B, Sanchez enjoyed another successful season at the dish during her 2016 sophomore campaign. The West Covina, Calif., native was one of four Tigers to start in all of Mizzou’s 58 games a season ago.s Since arriving to CoMo as a freshman in 2015, Sanchez has produced consecutive seasons with a .345-plus average, 25 runs scored, 60 hits, six doubles, 40 RBI and .430 on-base percentage.

BURNSIDE & KESSINGER HEADLINE FRESHMEN CLASS
s The Tigers continued their strong tradition of successful recruiting, as the Class of 2017 freshmen ranked among the nation’s best.s Two Tiger newcomers, freshmen Braxton Burnside and Cayla Kessinger, impressed in Fall 2016 action and will be looked upon to step up immediately in the Tigers’ everyday lineup.s Over eight fall games at University Field this past October, Kessinger hit .538 with 10 runs, three doubles, two home runs, seven RBI and two stolen bases. Burnside wasn’t too shabby herself, as she hit .393 with 10 runs, three doubles, one home run, eight RBI and one stolen base.s Both Tigers excelled in high school prior to their arrival in Mid-Missouri, leading to high rankings in numerous national recruiting lists. Burnside enjoyed a breakout junior season with Paragould High School, earning “Best Under the Sun” Co-Player of the Year honors. Kessinger was sensational in her senior season, tallying 2016 FloSoftball All-American and PGF All-American honors.
s After arriving to Columbia, Mo., last season as a relative unknown, sophomore Danielle Baumgartner turned heads immediately en route to a fantastic first-year campaign in Tiger black and gold.s It only took one weekend for Coach Earleywine to spot his new prized arm in the circle, as Baumgartner was sensational at the 2016 Citrus Classic in Kissimmee, Fla. The Mexico, Mo., native went 3-0 with two complete games, 0.39 ERA and a streak of 17.0 consecutive scoreless innings pitched.s Later on in nonconference tournament action, Baumgartner quieted a talented #17 Arizona State lineup, as she tossed a complete game shutout (7.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 5 K).s Deep in crucial SEC action, the talented righty delivered against #16 Texas A&M, allowing only 1 ER in 6.2 IP with a career high six strikeouts against one of the nation’s most potent offenses.s Overall last season, Baumgartner allowed 2 ER or less in an amazing 26 of her 28 appearances (16 starts).s She was arguably the Tigers’ most consistent pitcher all season long, leading to seven consecutive decisions from Feb. 27 - March 23.s Her final 1.98 season ERA ranked top 15 in the SEC and top 55 in the NCAA.

s Last season, Coach Earleywine gave the green light to Mizzou baserunners early and often, leading to a program record 165 stolen bases. The impressive number marked the Tigers’ third consecutive season with 100-plus stolen bases and the seventh such feat under Earleywine’s tenure (2007-pres.).s Mizzou’s constant threat of speed on the basepaths has caused fits for opposing pitchers and defenses. In fact, last year’s 2.84 stolen bases per game ranked 1st in the SEC and 2nd in the NCAA. Additionally, the Tigers’ 165 total stolen bases ranked 1st in the SEC and 2nd in the NCAA as well.s The Tigers’ top returning threat on the basepaths is sophomore Regan Nash. The Camden Point, Mo., native earned 2016 Freshman All-SEC honors, after hitting .336 with 33 runs, 48 hits, two doubles, 12 RBI and 22 stolen bases.s Nash’s 22 stolen bases ranked T-9th in the SEC, as she also produced one SB in 19 games, including three multi-SB efforts.s The speedy lefty is dangerous anytime she steps foot in the batters box, but she was particuarly successful last season when leading off an inning. In fact, Nash hit an astounding .484 (15-for-31) when she opened a Mizzou frame, laying the foundation for one of the nation’s top offenses.

MIZZOU IN NATIONAL RANKINGS UNDER COACH EARLEYWINE
s Since head coach Ehren Earleywine took over the Mizzou Softball reigns in 2007, the Tigers have placed in the nation’s top 25 polls at an incredible rate.s In fact, since the final NFCA Division I Coaches Poll and USA Softball Poll in 2008, Mizzou has placed in the two respective polls every time out.s With the most recent 2017 national polls, the Tigers have now ranked in the top 25 for an incredible 130 consecutive times.
