1 Course During the Month of May 2012 1. 40 days Induction Course for Newly Promoted Income Tax Officers of NWR & Delhi Region. This course for newly promoted ITOs of NW Region and Delhi Region which commenced on 09.04.12 was completed successfully 01.06.12. In the Month of May 2012, the participants were given inputs of money laundering and FEMA, Audit, Deemed income, Other allied Acts, MAT and Section 14A, Recovery, Disciplinary proceedings, Limited liability partnerships etc. The participants made a visit to the ITAT, Chandigarh where they witnessed the proceedings of the ITAT and had firsthand experience of the working of this appellate forum. The participants also called upon the Hon’ble Members of the ITAT and interacted with them. For analysis of financial statements, the participants got an opportunity to interact and learn from Sh. Amarjeet Chopra, the Ex President of the ICAI. The participants also made power point presentations on various contemporary issues which were followed by deftly handled question and answer sessions. All the participants made a two minutes presentation on ‘Inspirations’, where they spoke about the personalities, Institutions, Incidents etc that inspired them in life. During the month, the officer trainees were taken to Pegasus institute of Excellence at its cam- pus at Dehradun. The activities included ‘Human Web’, ‘Dynamic Delivery’, ‘ Crossing over the BRICKS’, ‘A Frame’ etc. Through these activities, the Officer trainees were led to redis- cover themselves and the activities also enabled them to plan, to utilize resources to the optimal level, form strategies, execute the plan/work keeping in mind the individual targets and the overall target of the organization. We’ve got an excellent feedback regarding their ‘Outbound Learning Programme’ at Dehradun.

09.04.12 was completed successfully 01.06.12. In the Month of May 2012, the participants

The participants presented a cultural programme at the end of their training which was
appreciated by one and all. A test was conducted at the end of the course and the percentage of
improvement in the performance of the officers was very heartening. They also came out with a
magazine titled ‘Udaan’ which was released by Sh Z.S. Klar, the Chief Commissioner of In-
come Tax, Panchkula, at the valediction ceremony of the course. Sh Klar addressed the partici-
pants and exhorted them to be ace investigators. He also discussed the various techniques of
investigation and distributed prizes and certificates to the participants.
Total number of Participant ITOs was 39. The schedule of training is enclosed herewith
as Annexure A.
2. On the Job Training of Officers of 65th
Batch of IRS
17 Officer Trainees of 65th
batch of IRS underwent their On Job Training-I at DTRTI, Chandi-
garh from 07.05.2012 to 18.05.2012. The Officer Trainees had a fruitful OJT with the Officer
Trainees not only getting a feel of the Department but also understanding the organization and
the functions of the Department. The Probationers called on Sh. Jaspal Singh, CCIT (CCA),
NWR, Chandigarh. Sh. Jaspal Singh gave them a brief introduction of the North West Region
and apprised them of the challenges and opportunities that the department is facing today. The
officer trainees also met the Addl. CIT (Hq.) and DCIT (Vig.) who gave them an overview of
the functioning of the Headquarters and the Vigilance Mechanisms. They also called on Sh.
B.S. Sandhu, CIT where they learnt about the functions of the CIT’s office. The probationers
were introduced to the working of the Ranges, the Investigation Wing, TDS, International Tax-
ation, Audit, Central Charges and the ITAT also.

To familiarize the officers with the functioning of the a Mufassil Charge, the officer trainees
were taken to Parwanoo Income Tax Office where they juxtaposed natural sightseeing along
with learning.
For the outbound activity on the weekend the officer trainees went to Amritsar where they vis-
ited places of historical importance like the Wagah Border, Jalianwalan Bagh, the Golden
Temple, the Durgiana Temple etc. The officer trainees made powerpoint Presentation on the
last day of their OJT where feedback about their training was given.
The officer trainees also had the privilege of calling on His Excellency Sh. Shivraj Patil, Gov-
ernor, Punjab. The Governor spent more than two hours with the Probationers where he inter-
acted on a one-to-one basis with the officer trainees. Sh. Patil was extremely satisfied and duly
impressed by their outlook on life. I sincerely hope and believe that the agenda setout for the
OJT-I has been met out completely.

15 Days course for Group ‘D’ officials from 23.04.2012 to 11.05.2012 is was completed on
11.05.2012. Total number of participants in this course is 10.
