Information

1. Information can be of several type:

Audio – Telephone

Text - Telegraph , emai l, SMS

Pictures – Picture at tachments Video – Cl ipping over internet

Data – ATM to bank.

2. The same telecom technology/service cannotcommunicate all the types of information.

TMN field of application

Synchronous transmission networks (SDH)

Broadband mult i-service networks (PON/ATM)

Public switched telephone networks

Intell igent networks

Mobile networks etc.

PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT

Collect traffic information

Use it for capacity planning and provide trafficflow predictions (per hour, day, month).

Monitor the level of resource util isation andresponse times.

Identify bottlenecks and congestion, try to

Recover through soft re-configuration.Relationship with configuration management.

Monitor quality of service for services sold on

service level agreements.
