IA Cocktail Hourは「IA(Infomation Architect)のみなさんが仕事帰りに集まるパーティ」
という趣旨のもと、web制作・事業会社等の垣根を越えてIA/UXについてディスカッションする飲み会兼勉強会
Concent:長谷川敦士氏、Netyear:坂本貴史氏が中心となり、行われている。
今回は、ビジネスアーキテクツ社にて2009年6月に行われたAdaptive Path社がサンフランシスコで実施したワークショップ

米国を代表する、ユーザーエクスペリエンスをテーマに活動するコンサルティングファーム。「Ajax」を命名した人物としても有名な ジェシー・ジェームス・ギャレット氏は、「blog」の命名に貢献したといわれるピーター・メイホールズ氏と共に創設メンバーであり、共同経営者である。

Ethnography
フィールドワークに基づいて人間社会の現象の質的説明を表現する記述の一種。 英語の、ethnographyは、ギリシア語のethnos=国民・民族と、graphein=記述に由来する。
民族誌は、あるシステムの様々な特性は、お互いに関係があり、単独では必ずしも正確に理解できないという考えに基づいた総合的な調査の結果である。 このジャンルは、形式と歴史において旅行記及び植民地政府の報告書の系譜を引く。 いくつかの学問の伝統、特に構造主義と相対論的パラダイムにおいては、有効な研究方法として民族誌的な研究が要求される。
Ethnographyの技法 • 日々の振る舞いを直接観察すること。これは参与観察を含む。 • 異なる堅苦しさのレベルにある人との会話。これにはちょっとしたお喋りから長時間の聞き取り調査を含む。 • 系譜学的手法。これは、民族誌家が図と記号を使って、親族・相続・婚姻の関係を発見し記録するための一連の手順である。 • 共同体での生活の一定の範囲について、重要な相談相手との詳細な作業。 • 徹底的な聞き取り調査。 • 地域特有の信念と認識の発見。 • 問題志向型の調査。 • 長期の調査。これは一つの地域についての長期の継続的な研究である。 • チームでの調査。 • 事例研究。

Dublin Core
Dublin Core(ダブリン・コア、略称DC)とは、メタデータ記述に使う語彙の通称。 その語彙が共通の認識となるように、慎重な設計がされた基本語彙セットおよびそれらをサポートするメタデータ語彙が公開されている。 Dublin Core Metadata Initiative によって提唱され、2003年には ISO 15836[1] 及び NISO Z39.85[2] によって国際標準となった。 名前の由来は、OCLC主催で情報学やWeb技術の専門家によるメタデータに関する第1回会合が開かれたアメリカオハイオ州の町ダブリンによる。 WWW上におけるリソースに関する情報を記述して有用な情報の探索・発見に役立てる目的で作られた。
特に、Webページの作者など専門家でなくとも簡単に記述できることを目指して、簡易なメタデータを作成するとの意図から作られたため、必ず記述しなければならない必須項目や、各項目の記述順序は無く、同一項目を複数回使用することも自由である。
Dublin Coreはメタデータを記す際に用いられるRDFや、HTMLのhead要素などに埋め込むことにより、メタデータの共通化を計ることが可能になるという利点がある。
またDublin Coreの基本語彙は、RSS (RDF Site Summary)の公式モジュールとして採用されたり(一部の要素はコアモジュールに取り込まれている)、FOAF (Friend of a Friend)などでよく使われ、Semantic Web関連技術のサポートに貢献している。
Dublin Coreには15の基本要素と呼ばれるものがある。また基本語彙にあわせて、より詳細な情報を記述するための修飾子などが用意されている。

マイクロフォーマットはHTML(またはXHTML)ウェブページにおける、意味を表現するための小さなマークアップである。マイクロフォーマットには用途ごとに様々なものがある。現在のHTML標準には記述の意味を埋め込むための構文が備わっている。マイクロフォーマットではclassrelrevなどのHTML属性が多用される。通常のHTMLページにマイクロフォーマットを埋め込むことで、ウェブクローラなどのプログラムがイベント情報やレビューなどをウェブページ上から見つけ出すことができる。

この例には表示名(fn)、所属(org)、電話番号(tel)とURLが記述してあり、特定のクラス名で識別されている。 そして全体が class="vcard" でラップされており、これらのクラスがhCard(vCard)を構成していて、偶然に名づけられたものではないことを示している。 この例は基本的なもので、hCardにはこの他のクラスも存在する。 このようにすることで、ソフトウェア、例えばブラウザプラグイン、が情報を抽出し、アドレス帳などの他のアプリケーションに渡すことができる。

folksonomy
フォークソノミー(folksonomy)とは、インターネットのウェブサイト上の情報に、利用者自らが複数の「タグ」(tag,名札)を自由に付け加え、検索できるようにしていく分類の方法をいう。
folks(民衆)とtaxonomy(分類法)を合わせた造語。サイトの管理者がコンテンツの分類を行い、利用者は関わることのできない、従来のディレクトリ(カテゴリ)分類やロボット検索とは、対照をなす。
分類の作業が万人に開かれ、終わりのないオープンなものであること、ユーザーの共同作業によるものであることが特徴である。
また検索に当たっては、図書館情報学で使われるあらかじめ定められた統制語彙の代わりに、ユーザーが自由に作成したキーワードが用いられる。 フォークソノミーによるタグ付けは、インターネット上の情報の集合体の中から、目指す情報や隣り合った情報を、より探しやすく、見つけやすく、たどり着きやすくするために考え出された方法である。
フォークソノミーがよく発達したサイトでは、ユーザーにわかりやすいよう、ユーザー自身が考えた言葉による分類がなされ、情報へのアクセスがしやすいものとなっている。
しばしば挙げられる例には、写真共有サイトのFlickr、ソーシャルブックマークのDel.icio.usやはてなブックマーク、動画共有サイトのニコニコ動画、画像投稿コミュニティサイトのPixivなどがある。Wikipediaもフォークソノミーに基づいている。

Grounded Theory Grounded Theory(GT)とは、社会学者のBarney Glaser and Anselm Strauss(グレイザーとシュトラウス)によって提唱された、質的な社会調査の一つの手法で、アメリカの看護学において定着した。グラウンデッド・セオリー・アプローチ (Grounded Theory Approach ; GTA) とも言われる。
分析の最終目的として、社会現象を説明するための実証分析で役立つような、明確な理論を作ることを、とくに重視した。定性的研究の多くは、データを取った後は各自が自分で考え、印象批評をするのみで、取った後のデータの処理方法や、具体的な分析手法はない。単に結果を記述することのみを重視するものも多い。 しかしこの手法は、データを文章化した後の、分析法を提示しようと試みている点に特徴がある。
この手法の特徴は、患者へのインタビューや観察などを行い、得られた結果をまず文章化し、特徴的な単語などをコード化しデータを作ることである。その上で、コードを分類し分析することになる。 ただ、得られたデータが少数でもそれはやむを得ないこととしてしまっており、研究法として限界があることも否定できない。
あまり少数では、そもそも分類自体が不可能だからである。
研究を始める段階で、問題設定や仮説探索目的で使う上では有用なこともあり、おもしろいと感じることが多い手法だが、以下の短所があり、分析法は直感に頼る部分が多い。
したがって、分析結果としての結論(あるいは理論構築)にたどり着かないことも多いため、実証研究で用いるには十分な注意が必要である。
