    ADDENDUM

Changes incorporated into TREND and EMCAT PRO TM

     2005 Version 2.2

Version 2.2 incorporates the following changes:

Manual data entry for phase to phase Resistance, Impedance and Inductance. Multiple language capability

o  Spanish version is now available. o  Other languages to be determined.

READ this addendum prior to using V2.2 software. The Trend/EMCATPRO  2005 manual has not been updated to reflect these changes.

Software Installation: This upgrade file will only be usable on Versions 2.0 and 2.1. If you currently are usingVersion1.x, you must first upgrade from Version 1.x to Version 2.1. The upgrade files andinstallation instructions will be found on the installation disk under the following tab:

TREND/EMCAT PRO 2005 SoftwareInstallation and instructions

The user should always backup the database and save it to a safe location prior toupgrading the software. Instructions for where to find the database files are referenced inthe user manual.

Manual data entry: When using the ATIV in Auto Mode where impedance and/or inductance readings areless than 10, the ATIV will display whole numbers only. I.e. drops the numbers to theright of the decimal. Therefore, if the phase to phase impedance is 1.9 ohm, 1.9 ohm,and 2.0 ohm, the ATIV in Auto Mode will display 1, 1, and 2. When evaluating theseresults in previous versions of Trend/EMCAT PRO  2005 software it will show a 50%

phase to phase unbalance and generate a yellow alarm.

If needed, the user can now make measurements of impedance and inductance in theATIV s Manual mode (which will display values to the right of the decimal) and enterthese new readings into the software.

Phase-to-Phase resistance can also be entered via Manual data entry when required.

These values are changeable in both TREND and EMCAT PRO  2005 and are accessedas shown below:

After selecting the Manual Entry of Test Values the following screen will appear:

  • 8/17/2019 08 Trend 2005 Emcat Pro 2005 User Manual

    7/90

The original values uploaded from the instrument are displayed for the motor datasetselected.

The user then enters the new data using the computer keyboard:

As shown, a note will be added to the dataset indicating that any or all of the values have been changed andthis note appears as the new data is being entered:

Manual Resistance MR Manual Impedance MZ Manual Inductance ML Or all three  MRZL

Impedance and Inductance values werereplaced with manual readings. This changeby the user is documented by the MZLnotation.

    Introduction

The TREND/ EMCAT PRO 2005 (Electric Motor Circuit Analysis Tool) is an advanced tool for

electric motor maintenance and management using ATIV instrumentation.

TREND / EMCAT  PRO 2005 is a completely new platform that runs under the widely acceptedWindows ®  XP operating system. To operate the software an understanding of the W indows ®  XP operating system is necessary.

W hen accessing TREND / EMCAT PRO 2005, it will run as either TREND or the morepowerful EMCAT  PRO 2005. To access the features of EMCAT  PRO 2005 the USB  securitykey must be installed. W ithout the USB security key will still allow the user to access themajority of the programs features. See below for the features accessible with the upgradedEMCAT PRO 2005.

    EMCAT PRO

2005 is the industry s most powerful tool for tracking, scheduling and maintainingrecords for AC/DC electric motors and transformers for service companies and in-housemaintenance departments.

The TREND 200 allows for uploading data gathered and stored in any ATIV , automatic dataanalysis, and report generation. TREND 2005 also provides a platform to operate the softwareand programs necessary to operate the ATPOL Series analyzers (Separate software CD).

TREND 2005  imports and sorts data from previous versions of TREND/EMCAT software, andtest results from other technologies such as infrared, ultrasonic, vibration analysis and muchmore. TREND 2005 performs specialized analysis during upload, and data importing providing

immediate answers to the electrical condition of your equipment.

The EMCAT PRO 2005 includes all of the features of the TREND 2005 plus additional

advanced features which make the EMCAT  PRO 2005 the most advanced and easy to use motormanagement and analysis system available today.

The additional features EMCAT  PRO 2005 include:

The Rotor Test module which allows entry of inductance or impedance rotor test information and scores the condition of the rotor based upon our proprietary RotorGrading System.

Test analysis and trending modules provide degree of f ault gauges and allow for the generation of work orders. Trend reports, analysis reports, route lists and more can beprinted directly from the program.

The DC Motor analysis capabilities are unparalleled in the industry. It supplies fieldproven techniques and procedures to trend and evaluate your DC motors.

Transformer Analysis uses the same field proven techniques developed in motor testing toquickly and accurately evaluate the condition of the Transmission or distributiontransformers.

W ork Orders incorporating all of the data gathered for the equipment can be generatedquickly and easily with a simple button operation.

EMCAT PRO 2005 provides a very simple, intuitive program for access and maintenance of yourelectric motor and transformer data using the most advanced methods available today. If  you havealready been using the ATIV and the previous versions of TREND /EMCAT PRO 2005, you canimport your data history with a few clicks of  your mouse button.

    Version 2.0 Features

Caution: TREND/EMCAT PRO 2005 version 2.0 is not backwards compatible; once the database hasbeen converted it cannot be run on previous versions of TREND/EMCAT PRO 2005. It is recommendedthat the user create a backup of the current TREND/ EMCAT PRO 2005 database before upgrading toTREND/EMCAT PRO 2005 version 2.0.

    Enhanced Graphics Operations

TREND allows enhanced operations of the graphics displays in the analysis screens. Display

    Custom Logos

The following reports now allow the user to add custom logos to their reports:

    List of Equipment

Equipment to Review Equipment to Test

    Equipment Findings

    Route Report

The equipment finding report now prints in full color.  The report displays the same color code asthe TREND /EMCAT PRO  2005 software display screens;  it also displays the Impedance  andInductance comparison graphs from the individual analysis screen.

Equipment Setup The equipment setup now allows for the Name plate data information to be populated from

the ATPOL series Electrical Signature Analysis (ESA) software.

    Increased Export Capabilities

TREMD/EMCAT PR O 2005 now exports all test results, including user notes.

    Enhanced Auto Analysis Capabilities

TREND /EMCAT PRO 2005 has improved automatic analysis on impedance and inductanceunbalance. Since normal rotor orientation can cause an unbalance in an uncompensated

MCA reading TREND/EMCAT PRO 2005 software will now issue a yellow warning

instead of a red alarm for impedance and inductance unbalances.

    Rotor Testing (EMCAT PRO 2005)

The Rotor test screens provide the tools necessary for advanced rotor analysis for AC rotors.

    AC Rotor Test

The AC rotor test provides a unique method of performing a complex analysis on squirrel cage rotorsto identify out of round rotors, broken rotor bars, casting voids and other rotor related issues. The rotortest feature allows the administrator/user of  EMCAT PRO 2005 to enter data taken with the ATIV toprovide a graphical display of readings for visual interpretation and analysis.  The unit provides thecommands to store the data, and provides a score of the rotors condition.

The procedures for performing the AC rotor test are detailed in the ATIV manual. Appendix 1 provides a reproducible form for the user to follow while performing the AC rotor test.

Using the manual measuring mode of the ATIV inductance measurements are made of all three phase

    windings:

    1) With the rotor shaft key positioned at the 12 o clock position, take inductance readings of allthree phase windings.

    2) Record these values in the appropriate spaces on the AC Rotor Test form.

    3) Rotate the shaft the specified number of degrees determined by the table below. A minimumof  24 shaft positions should be taken. However, on 4 pole motors or greater it is recommendedthat more positioned be taken. The more rotor positions taken, the more detail is available foranalysis.

    4) Record the inductance readings of all three phases at the various rotor positions, until one complete

shaft rotation has been made. Caution: Extra care should be taken to ensure that the readings aretaken at precise intervals.

    5) The recorded values are transferred to the spaces on the Rotor Test in the EMCAT PRO 2005.

    ALL-TESTPRO Rotor Grading System

This proprietary rotor analysis system evaluates and scores on the degree of deviation from the median

test, reading in five levels and scores 0.5 points for each deviation and level of deviation. The softwareis designed to detect slight changes and may cause a few false positives (i.e.: faulty rotors), requiring

the user to confirm faulty results against sample test results.

    AC Rotor Visual Analysis

For visual analysis, generally the graphical waveforms should be symmetrical and 1200 apart. Thenumber of waveforms displayed is dependent on the number of poles in the motor. There should be one

    complete waveform per pole.

Large deviations in the wave forms indicate high resistance points in the copper rotor bars,

normally where the rotor connect to the end ring or shorting ring.

Similar deviations in each of the wave forms indicate broken rotor bars.

In small inexpensive aluminum rotors, similar deviations in each waveform indicate the rotorlaminations are not set properly.

Flat points on the sides of the waveforms indicate casting voids. This can be verified by a largeamount of balance weight on the rotor.

Deviations on the peak of the waveforms indicate broken rotor bars.

Eccentric rotors cause the waveforms to taper off or shift from high to low.

This loads the selected test data into the analysis screen and allows the TREND / EMCAT PRO 2005 to perform analysis on the selected test data.

The automatic analysis is performed by proprietary algorithms developed fromover 20 years of testing coils and windings.

More In-depth analysis details are provided in the MCA: Theory,

Applications and Energy Analysis, the ALL-TEST  Pro, LLC Motor

Diagnostics Training Guide or the ATIV operating manual.

    Basic MCA Principles

On Three-Phase AC Motor Analysis, the analysis determines the unbalance of the readings between

the phases. On good operating motors all of the readings should be balanced.

Resistance Unbalance: Indicates loose connectors, cold solder joints, or high resistanceconnections.

Inductance and Impedance Unbalances: Some unbalance in Inductance and Impedance is

expected with the rotor installed in the motor, depending on the winding and rotor bar ratio. Ifthese unbalances are detected, additional reading should be taken with the shaft rotated 900.

If the unbalance follows the rotor position change, this verifies the unbalance is mostlikely due to the rotor position.

If the unbalance remains in the same relationship, the fault is most likely in the stator

    windings.

If the graphed Impedance and Inductance don t follow similar patterns this indicates

    overheated or contaminated windings.

    57

I /F Current Frequency Response is a patented procedure that, when combined with the phase angle, helps identify turn to turn, coil to coil, or phase to phase shorts. Both I /F and Phase should be balancedwith in 2 units.

On single phase and DC windings, automatic analysis is not as straight forward since similar windings

are not readily available. For Analysis of DC windings and single phase motors or transformers it isnecessary determine a baseline set of readings for that particular coil or trend the data (see Trend Analysis below)

    Automatic Analysis

To interpret the analysis the data charts are color coded. The program uses proprietary algorithms tocalculate the percentage difference between phases for the different measurements and compares the

calculated differences to predetermined limits to evaluate the condition of the equipment. If the

differences vary by a pre-determined value, an alert or alarm warning are issued.

Green: Data differences color coded in green indicate good windings and no further action is

    required.

Yellow: Data differences color coded in Yellow indicate a warning condition exists and the

equipment should be watched closely, possibly reducing the inspection interval.

Red: Data differences color coded in Red indicate the measurement values have exceeded pre-

determined limits that indicate a severe condition occurs and action is required immediately.

The findings dialog box provides a verbal interpretation of the data and provides recommendationsbased on the evaluation of the data.

For the most complete evaluation of the equipment it is recommended that the data be taken from themotor control center. This allows at ATIV, to measure the condition of the complete equipment

system, including the controller and associated cabling. If a fault is found from the data it is

recommended to retake the data directly at the equipment to separate cabling faults from equipmentfaults.

    Analysis Display Screen

If the automatic analysis identifies an impedance or inductance unbalance, the user should examine the

graphical display to verify the patterns are similar.( i.e. if the Inductance graph goes from medium ,to high, to low; as in the above display, then the Impedance graph should follow. The first reading should

be the medium reading the second should be the highest and the third should be the lowest.

If both readings follow similar patterns and an unbalance still exists, the user should retake the data

after turning the shaft 900 from its position when the readings were originally taken. It is good practice

to take the off line data with the shaft key positioned to the 12 o clock position.

The notes section allows the analyst to add additional comments supplement the automatic analysis.

    Trend Analysis

In single phase equipment, DC equipment and even three phase equipment long term trend dataprovide powerful insight to the condition of the equipment. Comparing measurement changes over

time and in relation to one another also is important to the long term determination of the equipment s

    condition.

To perform trend analysis and display the trends of the measurements, place a check in the trendanalysis check box above the Company Tree.

    The Trend Graph:

Plots the change of equipment measurements from the baseline to the newer data

Develops trend plots and calculates trend patterns to compare against pre-determined levels

    and limits

Displays the trend plots over time

Provides color coded display of the Trend Condition with easy to identify warning lights on thecheck box display

Allows the user to easily add or delete data to the Trend display graph using the trend checkboxes

The Notes section allows the user to enter additional comments or notes to the trend plots.

The trend screen also allows the user to change the baseline data set. This is very useful while

performing trend analysis as the trend alarms are based on deviations from the measured data to

    baseline.

    Baseline Data

The TREND 2005 / EMCAT PR O 2005 use the data set that has been designated baseline as the basisfor trend analysis. The baseline designation defaults to the oldest data in the database, but can be

changed from either the on Analysis screens. Only data that is newer than the baseline is included inthe trend alarms calculations.

Administrators can also remove Test data from the data list from the Trend screen.

To remove Test Data select and highlight the Test Data to be deleted from the Test Data list and press the Delete Test Data button.

    TREND/EMCAT PRO 2005 REPORTS

The TREND /EMCAT PRO 2005 report features allow the user to create reports from data stored in theTREND/EMAT PR O 2005 system. Any of the reports can be created for viewing, storing

electronically or sent to a printed for hard copy. Each report can be printed on Standard Letter sizepaper (81/2 X 11 inches) or the metric standard A4

paper. If the correct report paper is not selected, do so

    before printing.

The reports can also be saved electronically in any ofthe various different formats selected from the drop

    down menu.
