Promotion Sunday August 16

August 16 we will return to our regular schedule with services in the Sanctuary at 9:00 am and 11:15 am. The Jubileeservice will begin at 11:15 am with all Sunday school classesmeeting at 10:00 am. Children entering 3K pre-schoolthrough youth entering 12th grade will move to their newgrade level for the school year.

Steve and Kathi Amar to leadSunday School August 16!

Join us in Thompson Hall at 10:00 am on August 16 asSteve and Kathi Amar tell us of their ministry to AmericanMuslims. Kathi and Steve are members of Christar (www.christar.org), an inter-denominational faith mission. DuringSteves Seminary training at Columbia International University, he and Kathi attended Eastminster Presbyterian Churchand thoroughly enjoyed its ministries. The Amars have beenministering to the Iranian population in the Washington,DC, area (which is believed to number as high as 250,000),since 2001.

TRANSITIONS

EPC will prepare and serve dinner for the 200 residents atTransitions Homeless Recovery Center on Thursday, August20. Children as young as 10 are allowed to serve with theirfamily. Make Transitions a family goal for the summer!Each month we take pasta salad (recipe provided), homemadepound cakes and bananas. Our servers meet at the church at4:30 pm and return by 6:30 pm. Welcome Morgan May

Please take a moment to welcome Morgan May, our newJubilee Worship Leader. Morgan is a student at USC majoring in English with a minor in Music and Vocal Performance. She has been working with the Jubilee band forseveral weeks and assumed the responsibilities of WorshipLeader as of a few weeks ago.

Brad Sherrills Apostle

Apostle is Brad Sherrills riveting new performancebased on Pauls epic journey found in Acts along with manyof Pauls most inspirational letters. Apostle is also presentedwith a beautiful new multimedia design featuring originalvideography captured in 2015 by Brads team at various Paulsites throughout Turkey and Greece. New Confirmation Class Begins

EPC has twenty-three 9th-grade students that will begina year-long journey of confirmation on August 23. Pleasepray for these students as they learn about God, the church,serving, and what it means to be a part of the Body of Christ!During the year students will spend two weekends awaylearning and sharing. They will serve together on variousmission projects and will spend much time in small groupslearning, laughing, and praying! The class will be confirmedin April 2016.

Red Cross Blood Drive

Eastminster will be sponsoring a blood drive on SundayAugust 30 in the Christian Life Center gym. The Red Crosswill be set up from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm to take your donation. Please come and help up to four people with yourdonation. August is usually a critical time when donationsare down due to vacations and the summer period.

Family Promise Returns September 6-13

Family Promise is a ministry that serves homeless familiesin our community. Our next opportunity to host them is theweek of September 6-13. Yes, we will be hosting families onthe Labor Day holiday! There are many volunteer opportunities, and all are family-friendly! Key Card Access Changes

The Key Card (FOB) Access Systemfor the church has been enhancedfor the Christian Education Buildingwith the addition of the AfterschoolProgram, which will begin August17. An additional reader has beeninstalled in the elevator. An individual will use the reader once inside the elevator to go to thefloor desired (much like hotels use for premium floors). Thisenhancement will improve safety and will only be activeduring the week when the EDS and Afterschool Program arein session.

Work Trip to New Orleans with RHINO!

RHINO is an outreach program of St. Charles AvenuePresbyterian Church which actively works to help NewOrleans residents restore their lives both physically andspiritually through the service of nationwide partners. Wellbe working with them to renovate homes in partnership withHabitat for Humanity, and continue to serve those in needas God calls us to do. The trip is Sept. 21-26 .
