News Release . . . photo on next page For release on November 10, 2006 Duke Energy Gas Transmission donates $5000 to College of New Caledonia Prince George, BC – Duke Energy Gas Transmission recently donated $5000 to the College of New Caledonia for use in the Trades division. “We’ll use the funds for the welding trailer to take training out into the regions,” said Jan Jonker, CNC’s Dean of Trades. “This donation will help us outfit the trailer, which we plan to take to Mackenzie, Vanderhoof, and Burns Lake, to offer our Level C welding program.” "Duke Energy is committed to supporting trades education, particularly when delivered to students on-site throughout the region,” said Steve Henderson, Manager, Community and Aboriginal Relations, Duke Energy Gas Transmission. “It is our goal to assist in the development of a skilled workforce to benefit all industries, while strengthening our communities." The welding trailer contains portable welding booths, an air extraction system for use when welding on site, and welding supplies. The seven-month Level C program is the basic level of welding training. It’s also offered at CNC’s Prince George and Quesnel campuses.
