WED. JUNE 11TH, 10:30 AM
Wednesday, May 28, 2014About 400 head of slaughter cattle were sold today with the market strong on all classes of cattle. As seems to be the trend, there again was very strong demand for lean slaughter animals. Lean and fat beef cows both covered the range of $99.00-112.00/cwt and averaged $2-3 higher than last week. Holstein slaughter cows were $1 lower overall, but like beef cows, demand for lean cows was strong with a wide range. Lean Holstein cows averaged $97.00 and fat Holstein cows averaged $97.50 and were both $3 higher in comparison to last week. Highlights include two loads of lean Holstein cows out of La Salle and smooth, lean beef cows from Evanston and Cheyenne, WY and some quality feeders from Fort Lupton.
