India. The body will fast-track investments by

German companies into India by regularlyscreening problems faced by them.

"Opportunity for growth has just begun. Wewould like German companies to partner withus. I extend an invitation to German compa-nies to come and set up manufacturing facili-ties in India," he said.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who iscurrently on a visit to India, today held talkson stepping up bilateral cooperation withPrime minister Narendra Modi.

Other agreements signed include an MoUbetween Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City); Infrastructure Leasing andFinancial services Limited (IL&FS) andSiemens Limited to develop smart mobilitysolutions for GIFT.

A pact was also signed between TATAPower Company Limited and Rohde &Schwarz GmbH&Co. KG to cooperate in thefield of terrestrial radio communiactionsusing software defined radios.

Besides, two more agreements signedinclude one between OPG Group and IBCSolar AG for the development and implemen-tation of solar PV projects in India; andanother one between Infineon TechnologiesIndia Pvt Ltd and National SkillsDevelopment Corporation for a tie up forskill development programme in semi-con-ductor manufacturing.

At a separate venue, a framework MoU wassigned today between the Department ofHeavy Industries (DHI), Govt of India andFraunhofer, Germany with the latter as"Technology Resource Partner".

The objective of the agreement is to supportand augment the "Make in India" programmethrough increasing the innovation and tech-nology prowess of the Indian industry.

The activities include creating a road-mapfor technological development for Indianindustry, identifying and plugging technologygaps.

PM Modi...in strategic areas."We see Germany as a natural partner in

achieving our vision of India's economictransformation. German strengths and India'spriorities are aligned.

"Our focus tends to be on economic ties. But, I believe that in a world of seamlesschallenges and opportunities, India andGermany can also be strong partners inadvancing a more human, peaceful, just andsustainable future for the world," PM Modisaid.

The Prime Minister also mentioned that hewill continue his discussions with ChancellorMerkel in Bangalore, where both the leaderswill be attending a business forum.

PM Modi noted that the partnership willalso grow in "areas like defence manufactur-ing, trade in advanced technology, intelli-gence, and countering terrorism and radical-ism. These are important security dimensionsof our expanding relationship."

The pacts signed included Joint Declarationof Intent between HRD ministry and theFederal Foreign Office of Germany regardingthe Promotion of German as a ForeignLanguage in India and the Promotion ofModern Indian Languages in Germany.

The inking of the pact comes as both sideswere working to resolve the contentious issueof Sanskrit replacing German as a third lan-guage in Kendriya Vidyalaya Schools, a deci-sion which was criticised by Germany withChancellor Merkel raising the issue duringher meeting with PM Modi on the sidelines ofthe G-20 summit in Brisbane in Novemberlast year.

The two sides also announced setting up aFast-Track system for German companies inIndia.

Germany Offers ...combating climate change," PM Modi told

journalists after meeting Chancellor Merkel, who is on a three-day visit to India.

Will Build...50,000 on each vehicle which is at present

Rs 1.5 lakh. Besides, on surrender of oldvehicle at any of the the eight industrial units,a certificate for Rs 50,000 will be given pro-ducing which a buyer can get rebate of thatamount. In addition some rebate will bethere," Mr Gadkari said.

He added that used vehicles can be broughtfrom all over the world to these centres andscrap could be recycled the finished productwould be much cheaper.

"This can be exported and this could givethe industry a fillip... if we bring old vehiclesfrom the world and recycles parts and exportthem ...India will be automobile hub. There isRs 2.5 lakh crore export in automobile sec-tor," he said.

He said there is an urgent need to recycle asmore than 10 years old vehicles were running

on roads with old technology which lacks notonly safety norms but creates pollution.

"Recycling would not only create employ-ment but boost the economic growth," hesaid.

Curfew in....ritual, led to anger.Today, several religious leaders took out

a protest march in the afternoon and localsalso joined in.

When the march reached a key crossingin the city, there was stone throwingbetween the police and protesters, whoallegedly burnt vehicles. The police alsoused batons again.

Curfew has been imposed in areas likeDashashwamedh, Chowk, Kotwali andLuxa.

No Proof ...complaint.The police in its affidavit said that pursuant

to the complaint received by Brahmbhatt, herstatement was recorded and also that ofRadhe Maa, who claimed she was implicated.

"FIR has been lodged on a complaintreceived from Dolly Bindra. Brahmbhatt willbe a witness in the case. Searches were alsoconducted at Nandanvan Bhawan (whereRadhe Maa lives) but nothing incriminatingwas found," it said.

"To ascertain the status of the trust run byRadhe Maa and if there were any financialirregularities in its functioning, a letter datedAugust 26 was issued to the office of theCharity Commissioner. A letter has also beensent to the Income Tax department requestingit to look into the financial irregularities asthe police does not have jurisdiction," theaffidavit said.

The High Court, after perusing the affi-davit, adjourned the matter for hearing aftertwo weeks.

FIR Against...of harmony, while section 188 deals with

disobedience to order duly promulgated bypublic servant.

The FIR has been lodged on the basis ofmagistrate's report, the SP said.

Mr Owaisi had yesterday addressed anelection meeting at Sontha haat village underKochadhaman assembly constituency inKishanganj district from where AIMIM stateunit chief Akhtarul Iman is contesting.

He had allegedly used abusive languageagainst all members of Parliament except hiselder brother Asaduddin Owaisi who isAIMIM chief and an MP from Hyderabad. He also allegedly made provocative remarksagainst BJP leaders.

The police are probing if the damage toidols of goddess Kali in two temples inNepalgarh locality had any connection to thespeech.

The SP said idols were found damaged intwo adjacent temples this morning and creat-ed tension in the town and protests.

District administration sought to maintainpeace by talking to people of the two commu-nities, he added.

Aarushi Case...case could have been solved very easily,"

said Mr Kumar. No one from the CBI has ever spoken about

the fact that two of its investigation teamscontradicted each other - the first team saidthe Talwars' helps killed Aarushi, but the sec-ond CBI team said the parents killed Aarushiafter finding her with Hemraj.

It was Mr Kumar's theory that the Talwars'help Krishna killed both Aarushi and Hemrajbecause Hemraj had objected to Krishna andRajkumar assaulting the teen.

The theory was junked after a new CBIdirector, Ashwani Kumar, took over.

When asked whether rivalry between thetwo directors led to the flip flops in the case, something that has also been shown in thefilm, Mr Arun Kumar refused to comment. He said after the second team completed itsinvestigation, he was asked about his opinionin a meeting. "I told them that there was noevidence to link the Talwars to the crime," hesaid, adding that it was then that the closurereport was filed.

When NDTV pointed out that later, CBIofficer AGL Kaul still told a court that theparents did it, Mr Arun Kumar said: "He hassince died so I don't want to speak about him,but the officer should not have gone beyondwhat was decided by the authority, which isthe CBI director.''

A Taste of...health centres to see how they were being

run.At her first stop, a small anganwadi, she

inspected the centre's register to find that of16 children below 10 meant to visit theanganwadi every day for a wholesome mealand iron and vitamins, only half that numberdid so.

Ms Raje was displeased. "This is a problemwe need to solve," the Chief Minister toldSawai Madhopur collector Anandi and trav-elled to another village, where she decided totaste the mid-day meal served to students at agirls' school.

It was too spicy, she said, and there no wasno salt. "Do you get other fruit too with your

midday meal or is it always a banana," sheasked the students. "We get fruits, sometimesapples as well," they said.

It was at her next stop in a village calledChakheri that the Chief Minister was mostupset. A hostel for girls, meant to house 20 inevery dormitory, has facilities only for 15 ineach.

"Where has the rest of the money gone,"Ms Raje asked angrily, adding, "somebodyhas been siphoning off funds here."

"This is not what we had planned, childrensleeping two to a bed, sleeping in rooms thatthey supposed to study in," she said.

The chief minister has now vowed to con-duct surprise checks in different districtsevery month to ensure her government is kepton its toes.
