DADDY, GOD LOVES YOU AND SO DO I!

Be thoughtful, be silent, and be reverent, for this is the House of God. Before the service, speak to the Lord; during the service,

let the Lord speak to you; after the service, speak to one another.

M I N I S T R Y O F T H E W O R D

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful, and kindle in us the fire of Your Love. Send forth Your Spirit and we shall be created and You shall renew the face of the earth. O God, Who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit, we may be truly wise, and ever rejoice in Your consolations, through Christ our Lord, Amen. PROCESSIONAL HYMN ……………………………………….. “GREAT IS THE FAMILY”

Great is the family, O Heavenly Father, Nothing on earth is quite like it today; Father and mother and sister and brother, All join together to work and to play.

Great is the family! Great is the family! Day after day may its love speak to me, Till all within feel the warmth of each member; And all around God’s great wisdom may see.

Great is the family, O Heavenly Father, Where is established an altar each day; Where every member is taught Holy Scripture, And where each member kneels daily to pray. Great is the family, O Heavenly Father, Where each one serves Thee and gives Thee his best, And where all conflict is settled and ended, And every member stands true to the test. Great is the family, O Heavenly Father, Satan is seeking to harm it today; May we stay true to the values we cherish, Thinking no price is too costly to pay. Great is the family, O heavenly Father, Bought by the blood of your Son long ago, That they united may all be forever, Ready for heaven His pardon to know.

RISE UP, O MEN OF GOD! INTROIT HYMN …………………………………………………. “RISE UP, O MEN OF GOD” Rise up, O men of God! Have done with lesser things. Give heart and mind and soul and strength To serve the King of kings.

Rise up, O men of God! The kingdom tarries long. Bring in the day of brotherhood And end the night of wrong.

Page 4: 06-19JUN2011

Rise up, O men of God! The church for you doth wait, Her strength unequal to her task; Rise up and make her great!

Lift high the cross of Christ! Tread where His feet have trod. As brothers of the Son of Man, Rise up, O men of God!

ENTRANCE ANTIPHON …………………………………………………………………. BCP p99 PREPARATION, ETC ……………………………………………………………………. BCP p101 THE COLLECT - BCP p172, “Our Homes and Families” - p82 FIRST LESSON

Readers: 7:00 am - Randy Conliffe, 9:30 am – PRAYER GROUP Reader: A Reading from the Word of God written in Genesis 1:1 – 2:3.

In the beginning when God created the heavens and the earth, 2

the earth was a formless void and darkness covered the face of the deep, while a wind from God swept over the face of the waters.

3 Then God

said, ‘Let there be light’; and there was light. 4 And God saw that the light

was good; and God separated the light from the darkness. 5

God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day. 6 And God said, “Let there be a dome in the midst of the waters, and let it

separate the waters from the waters.” 7

So God made the dome and separated the waters that were under the dome from the waters that were above the dome. And it was so.

8 God called the dome Sky. And

there was evening and there was morning, the second day.

9 And God said, “Let the waters under the sky be gathered together

into one place, and let the dry land appear.” And it was so. 10

God called the dry land Earth, and the waters that were gathered together he called Seas. And God saw that it was good.

11 Then God said, “Let the earth put

forth vegetation: plants yielding seed, and fruit trees of every kind on earth that bear fruit with the seed in it.” And it was so.

12 The earth

brought forth vegetation: plants yielding seed of every kind, and trees of every kind bearing fruit with the seed in it. And God saw that it was good.

13 And there was evening and there was morning, the third day.

14

And God said, “Let there be lights in the dome of the sky to separate the day from the night; and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years,

15 and let them be lights in the dome of

the sky to give light upon the earth.” And it was so. 16

God made the two great lights—the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night—and the stars.

17 God set them in the dome of the sky to give

light upon the earth, 18

to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.

19

And there was evening and there was morning, the fourth day.

20 And God said, “Let the waters bring forth swarms of living

creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the dome of the sky.” 21

So God created the great sea monsters and every living creature that moves, of every kind, with which the waters swarm, and every winged bird of every kind. And God saw that it was good.

22 God blessed them,

to our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the wild animals of the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.” 27

So God created humankind in His image, in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them.

28 God blessed them,

and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.”

29 God

said, “See, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit; you shall have them for food.

30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every bird of the air,

and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food.” And it was so.

31

God saw everything that He had made, and indeed, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.

2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all their

multitude. 2

And on the seventh day God finished the work that He had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all the work that He had done.

3 So God blessed the seventh day and hallowed it, because on it

God rested from all the work that He had done in creation.

Examine yourselves to see whether you are living in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not realize that Jesus Christ is in you? —unless, indeed, you fail to pass the test!

6 I hope you will find out that we have

not failed. 7

But we pray to God that you may not do anything wrong—not that we may appear to have passed the test, but that you may do what is right, though we may seem to have failed.

8 For we cannot do

anything against the truth, but only for the truth. 9

For we rejoice when we are weak and you are strong. This is what we pray for, that you may become perfect.

10 So I write these things while I am away from you, so

that when I come, I may not have to be severe in using the authority that the Lord has given me for building up and not for tearing down.

11 Finally, brothers and sisters, farewell. Put things in order, listen to

my appeal, agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.

12 Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the

saints greet you.

13 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the

communion of the Holy Spirit be with all of you.

GRADUAL HYMN …………………………...……………………………………..…… A&M 160 Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty! Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee: Holy, Holy, Holy! Merciful and mighty, God in Three Persons, Blessèd Trinity. Holy, Holy, Holy! all the saints adore Thee, Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea; Cherubim and Seraphim falling down before Thee, Which wert, and art, and evermore shalt be. Holy, Holy, Holy! though the darkness hide Thee, Though the eye of sinful man Thy glory may not see, Only Thou art Holy; there is none beside Thee, Perfect in power, in love, and purity. Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them.

17 When they saw Him, they worshipped

Him; but some doubted. 18

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.

19 Go therefore

and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

20 and teaching them to obey

Happy Fathers’ Day

It’s Fathers’ Day again: A precious opportunity to celebrate fatherhood. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have Fathers’ Day and Mothers’ Day combined as one day. Isn’t it God’s Intention that father and mother should hold together as an indestructible bond called parent where the child will find unquestionable love and experience a bonding that exceeds all human understanding. Within this context no child will be left out; the family is the safety net that allows no one to fall away and be lost to gang-bangers, the drug culture or crime in any form or fashion.

Regrettably, we are far from achieving God’s ideal. Sin has caused us to separate the days into diverse celebrations. What infact has happened is that we celebrate Mothers’ Day and lament on Fathers’ Day. How tragic! Someone once said, “Fathers’ Day is just like Mothers’ Day, except that we don’t give gifts on Fathers’ Day.” Let us be thankful for those ideal homes where there are mothers and fathers living peacefully with their children. This indeed is a foretaste of glory divine. Such is a gift from the Almighty for His people. Brokenness forces us to acknowledge that so many are victims of broken homes and broken relationships. Satan is doing his best to harm our homes every day.

The father-title is used to refer to God more so than any other title. So when God let’s man be called father, He is giving him a special honour and with that honour God gives him special responsibility. Such a responsibility is to be the priest of the home. Joshua understood this all too well when he declared, “As for me and my house we will serve the lord...” I call on all fathers on this Fathers’ Day, 2011, to let us again commit to spiritual leadership. Our partners/wives are eager for it and our children, maybe in years to come, will call us “blessed.” This will be a deterrent to crime, more balanced personalities will be forged and it will prove a corrective measure to deviant behaviour. Read again St. Matthew 6:33, when we put spiritual matters as foremost everything else falls into place. God will certainly provide our every need.

Can we commit the family, fathers, to :

• Weekly Worship in Church

• Family Prayers and Bible Readings

• Grace at meals

• Family Fun and playing together

• Modelling of Christian Lifestyle

POST-GOSPEL HYMN ………………………….…………… “FAITH OF OUR FATHERS” Faith of our fathers, living still, In spite of dungeon, fire and sword; O how our hearts beat high with joy Whenever we hear that glorious Word! Faith of our fathers, holy faith! We will be true to thee till death. Our fathers, chained in prisons dark, Were still in heart and conscience free: How sweet would be their children's fate. If they, like them, could die for thee!

Faith of our fathers, we will strive To win all nations unto Thee; And through the truth that comes from God, We all shall then be truly free. Faith of our fathers, we will love Both friend and foe in all our strife; And preach Thee, too, as love knows how By kindly words and virtuous life.

When my way grows drear, Precious Lord, linger near, When my life is almost gone, Hear my cry, hear my call, Hold my hand lest I fall: Take my hand, precious Lord, Lead me home.

When the darkness appears And the night draws near, And the day is past and gone, At the river I stand, Guide my feet, hold my hand: Take my hand, precious Lord, Lead me home.

“HAVE YOU SEEN JESUS MY LORD”

Have you seen Jesus my Lord? He's here in plain view. Take a look, open your eyes, He'll show it to you. Have you ever looked at the sunset With the sky mellowing red, And the clouds suspended like feathers Then I say, you've seen Jesus my Lord.

Have you ever stood at the ocean With the white foam at your feet, Felt the endless thundering motion? Then I say, you've seen Jesus my Lord. Have you ever looked at the cross, with a man hanging in pain And the look of love in His eyes? Then I say, you've seen Jesus my Lord.

Have you ever stood in the family With the Lord there in your midst Seen the face of Christ on each other? Then I say, you've seen Jesus my Lord.

We come, obedient to Thy word, To feast on heavenly Food; Our meat the Body of the Lord, Our drink His precious Blood. Thus may we all Thy Word obey, For we, O God, are Thine; And go rejoicing on our way, Renew’d with strength Divine.
