BALLARD MEMORIAL HIGH SCHOOL

Senior SpotlightBy Jessica Jones

Every student at Ballard Memorial knows senior Cera Peck. Or if they don’t know her, they’ve definite-ly heard her voice. Cera has a voice that stands out against all the others, in volume and in words. One never has to guess what Cera is thinking; she will tell you regardless of what it is. This is probably why she was voted Most Opin-ionated by her classmates. That’s one of the best things about Cera - she never beats around the bush and is always straightforward, which is probably why she and I get along so well!

Cera is the daughter of James and Danielle Peck of Wickliffe, the owners of Peck’s Customs. Cera is always working in the au-tomotive shop or working at the Dollar General Store in LaCenter. She isn’t originally from Wickliffe, she moved with her family all the way from Clinton, Washington. Cera hasn’t

had a problem settling in to school, she is one of the three valedictorians in the 2014 class. After high school ends, Cera will be-gin her future by attending WKCTC and then going to Farrier School in Rich-mond, Ky.

Hunter hopes to be remembered as some-one who was awesome, and someone who made people laugh. He has plans to attend Murray State in the near future, and hopes someday to become the CEO of Apple.

Although Jacob was born in the Land of Lin-coln, he currently calls Barlow his home. Jacob is the son of Sherry Bay-singer and Mart Rambo. He is the brother of Lucas Rambo. Jacob has played football all throughout his high school career. When asked what he does outside of school, Jacob responded “work hard”. He hopes to be remembered by and leave behind memories. I would like to thank everyone that helped re-elect me as Judge/Execu-tive. I will do my best to represent Ballard County to the best of my ability. I appreciate the support and confidence you have placed in me. I would also like to thank the Fiscal Court and all the Ballard County employees for their hard work and dedication to Ballard County. I am very excited and looking forward to another 4 years of service.

Thank you,Vickie Viniard

Ballard CountyJudge/Executive

I would like to thank Ballard County for their vote in this election. I would especially like to thank my support-ers. I couldn’t have done this without you.

As expected by everyone, it was a close race with all four candidates receiving a substantial amount of the vote. My thoughts and prayers go out to the other three candi-dates and their families because I had already considered what it would have been like if I was on the other end of this. It’s hard to imagine the fall after each one of us put so much time and effort into our campaigns. It was a very tough campaign for all of us.

One of my major concerns will be the “split” that I have seen in the public over these last several months. I hope that everyone will “heal” from this over time and Ballard County will be able to move on without the hurt. I take the responsibility to try to make that happen and will feel like I have failed if I don’t succeed in doing that.

Everyone who knows me on a personal basis knows that, without a doubt, I will put my heart into this job. Among other things, I want the Sheriff’s Office to be one that the community trusts and respects. I will strive to meet that goal.

Thank you again Ballard County, for trusting me to serve you well.

Millie GreenClass President

Class of 2014

We’re so fresh; we’re so clean; we’re the class of Twenty Fourteen! Even though there are only 88 of us, we’re still the coolest class to ever walk through the doors of BMHS, but I might be biased. On August 11, 2010 we were not the mel-low adults we are today. As we sat in the gym listening to Mr. Shively talk about how great our year was going to be, we were shaking with nerves and looking anxiously around the room for friendly faces. The girls were questioning their outfit choices and checking their hair. The boys were eyeing the large senior boys (men) sitting in the floor chairs laughing and looking forward to

their final year. We had no clue what to expect. We’d heard lots of things about high school: the school work gets harder, you get more freedom, the food still sucks, the teachers are cooler, you still can’t have your phones, and beware Freshman Friday. We didn’t know what to believe. But the most common thing we heard in those months between middle and high school was to not wish the years away, that they would pass sooner than we would think. And boy did they! As I type this letter to you all, I cannot help but smile and laugh at all the things we have expe-rienced as a class. When this journey began, we all thought

we knew who we were and had an idea of how our four years would play out. Whether it was to become star of the football team, President of our favorite club, Drum Major, Prom Queen, or even just maintaining a certain GPA, we all had goals. No one could predict what would hap-pen or what path we may stum-ble down. High school taught us a plethora of things, and not just how to pass our EOCs. We’ve learned life lessons that will stick with us and be passed on to our children. We’ve discovered what kinds of people we are and how we deal with various situa-tions. In high school, maybe your friend groups changed, your fa-

vorite classes changed, your style changed, or you picked up new hobbies. My point is this: high school changed us, but it changed us for the better. We, the Class of 2014, are equipped to leave Ballard Memorial and live prosperous lives as lead-ers in any community in which we decide to settle. It truly is a blessing to be the first class to go all the way through the new school and not have lost anyone along the way. I am so thankful to have been able to be a part of our wonderful class and I am ea-ger to see all the great things yet to come for our class of Twenty Fourteen. I wish you success in all of your endeavors.

Congratulations, Ballard Memorial High School class of 2014! I was ap-proached by one of your classmates and asked to write a “personal” letter of congratulations to this group. You are the last class of students who went through 6th, 7th, and 8th grades with me as your middle school principal. I’m happy that you all were successful even though that happened to you.

Every class of students has a collec-tive “personality.” Class of 2014, you are a group of graduates who makes my message easy. You have so much pride in your class and your school, and you have represented Ballard Memorial High School in a way that instills pride in others. For that, I am grateful. You can ask little more of a group of young people than to take pride in what they do and who they are, and serve as role

models for those who will follow them. You have done that well.

Your journey has not been without bumps in the road; get used to that. Those bumps are what make up life. Enjoy the good times, learn from the bad, and be committed to coming out on the other side a better person every time. The advice I most want to give is the same message I express year and year out. It may have even been the message I gave you at your 8th grade promotion so many years ago. That advice is: think long term, begin with

the end in mind, set goals, and make sure that what you are doing is working toward meeting those goals. The other stuff may be fun, but it won’t get you where you want to be.

Finally, a message I share every year because it is sincere: please remember

the love and support you have received from your family and friends, and know that you will always have a home at Ballard County Schools!

Congratulations graduates!!Casey Allen, Superintendent

Congratulations, Ballard Memorial HIt is with great pleasure and sadness that I sit here writing a letter signify-ing the end of your high school jour-ney. Today has been another hectic day filled with testing, teacher apprecia-tion, and preparing for baccalaureate

and graduation services. Taking time to reflect on you for a moment and your accomplishments brings back a flood of great memories from the past three years I have served as principal of Bal-lard Memorial High School. Below are my ramblings of how you can find suc-

cess in life and enjoy the next leg of your journey.

First, learn to enjoy and appreciate those around you. While I have been at BMHS, you have been my family. When my day is filled with difficulty, I wander the hallways searching for you. I listen to your stories and laugh at your jokes. Spending time with family and friends will keep you grounded in re-ality. Do not forget your roots even as you travel far from Ballard County.

Set goals for yourself. The differ-ence between someone who is success-ful in life and someone who is not is the ability to set a goal and work to the finish. Your goals may change as life takes twists and turns, but always have a focus. Do not be afraid when life takes you places not expected; your struggles will define you as much as

your successes.Find something in life to be passion-

ate about. Do not sit on the sidelines of life. Jump in and get dirty. Try some-thing new each day if possible. Eat su-shi! Jump out of an airplane! Climb a mountain or swim with the dolphins! Your experiences, not your job in life, will define you.

Lastly, remember you are uniquely and wonderfully made. You have the capacity to define your future based on the choices you make. You have a special place in my heart and I pray for you as you enter the next phase of your life.

Congratulations!

Austin SummersBy Devin Griffin

“Come on man, one more! You’ve got it; one more!” These are the only words you will ever hear out of Aus-tin’s mouth while lifting with him at the gym. I recently started weight lift-ing with Austin at the Plex and it was quite possibly the best and worst deci-sion I have ever made in my life. He could very easily become an athletic trainer. Austin has the ability to make fun of and motivate you to push harder at the same time. He tells me how weak I am, shows off his muscles, and rubs it in my face how much bigger and stronger he is than me. At first this made me mad, but then it drove me to work harder and try to catch up to him (which will probably never happen).

Austin is the same way on the soc-cer field. I didn’t really know Austin until the summer between my sopho-more and junior years when I started playing soccer. We became friends that summer and have been ever since. On the soccer field, he would tell me how bad and out of shape I was, once again driving me to push harder. This is just Austin’s personality. He can be quiet

when he first meets you, but once he gets to know you, you can never shut him up. He cuts-up with and makes fun of people all the time, but he never means a word of it. He is just a big teddy bear who talks big, but he is really a good guy. Austin Summers is a prime example of “your bark is bigger than your bite.” He is a loyal friend and he will always have your back. Trust me, you want him on your side

Chad Adams

By Austin SummersFunny, mischievous, and a “fast

and furious” driver are all things that can be heard when the name Chad Adams is mentioned. When you first meet him he is quiet and reserved, but as you get to know him he is loud and never shuts up! One of the main reasons we are friends is because he is always up for anything. He also enjoys working out. I like to work out with him sometimes, but then again I don’t because it took me about a while to get where I am today and he is just as

strong as I am naturally. This is a good thing, though, because it pushes me to work harder to always one-up him. We also like to pull pranks on people and just joke around and have fun. We became friends several years ago in seventh grade. We met by a mutual friend, Clayton. Clayton and I were re-ally close friends, just as he and Chad were. Xbox Live was the thing to have then and we had all recently gotten it; through that, a bond was formed and we have been best friends ever since. When we both got our licenses and we got even closer. Every weekend the rest of the squad and us would go to the movies, out to eat, and then see whatever else we could get into. One of the many memories we have together was at Maggie Denton’s party. There were several people there and all of them had driven and left their doors unlocked, so we put glitter in everyone’s driver’s seats. They were all mad to say the least. I am mainly friends with Chad because we have a lot in common, which makes him very easy to get along with. We like the same things and we always have fun together. I know that if I ever needed anything he would be there for me, and

I will always be there for him

Devin GriffinBy Devin Griffin

Second grade. I met my best friend in second grade and we have been friends ever since. I can remember when I met all of my friends, and Devin was my first. It all started when we were in Mrs. Hopper’s class to-gether, and we have been together al-most every year since. In high school, if it didn’t work out that we had the same schedule, we would change our classes so that we were together; I almost feel bad for our teachers. We are both attending the University of Kentucky Engineering Program in Paducah for Mechanical Engineering, and even then we will have the same schedule. A lot of things will change, but I am blessed enough to have a friend that will be there through it all. Devin and I have always been friends and always will be. Everyone needs to have a friend like Devin Griffin some-time in his or her life, but I’m lucky enough to know the real, authentic Devin.

Chase GaiaBy Kaine Brooks

Chase Gaia is a swell fellow! Tall, skinny and full of energy Chase never sits in one spot for too long. Locating him is never a hard task seeing how he never seems to be quiet. You can find him doing anything from making cougar noises to meowing in random peoples ears. Chase is defiantly not your ordinary teenager, he has the energy and imagination of a five year old hyped up on too much sugar.

Dalton SmithBy Lance Aldridge

I met Dalton Smith in 5th grade, but we weren’t close until about 9th grade when we became best friends. The first time we hung out was at his house; we rode four wheelers. It was funny because I rode a fire red Honda TRX 90. The second time I came over we went to Current River for 3 days – floated on the river, relaxed,

and just had a good time. We hung out after this basically every weekend, playing PS3 and riding four wheelers. We’ve been to Bay

City, Current River 3 times, and chilled on a houseboat at the lake for a weekend. I drag him along to Tennessee occasionally. In school

if we’re together you can count on us to be cracking some ridiculous joke and goofing off. This dude is like a brother to me; I know he has my back and I have his. We’ve definitely had a good run. We’re always helping each other through no matter what problem one of us is dealing with. His parents even claim me as their “other son.” He’s definitely a one of a kind individu-al; there’s really no way to describe his personality. You just have to know him or you’ll never under-stand what I mean. We both like to hunt, fish, and ride four wheelers, but mostly just kick back and chill.

Lance AldridgeBy Dalton Smith

Everyone has a best friend; this guy’s mine. Growing up in the wrong generation is a feel-ing shared between us, being far more accustomed to the music and other things prior to the 21st century. You can usually hear some classics like Metallica, Led Zeppelin, or Pantera emanating

from the speakers of his maroon colored early 90’s Chevrolet, if its discernible over the roaring of the exhaust, which even at an idle is highly audible. Over the course of our friendship there have been many trips made to Tennessee to visit some of his family, a couple to Current River in Missouri, a couple to Illinois for various reasons, and a houseboat trip, not to mention the countless week-end excursions. We have spent a majority of the time at my house hanging out, getting into what-ever shenanigans we could find ourselves in, just the duo or with some more friends in the mix. Heck, my parents should have filed him on their tax returns as another member of the household; he used to be over at the house so much. My dad would introduce him as the other son if asked who he was in new company. This honest, loyal, and old school kind of guy is the type that many may know of but few truly can say they know.

Jessica JonesBy Shelbi Wiggins

Throwing ironing boards, witness-ing Jessica get out of the shower with shampoo still in her hair, and having to run to the third floor in heels to do a presentation... Everyone has their memories of school trips, but this one is the one that we will still be telling years from now. Freshman year, Jes-sica and I were fortunate enough to go to FBLA state competition to display a presentation. When we arrived. our projector, which was just working in our room, wouldn’t work. We didn’t know what to do so we went over on the time. The judges, who had obvi-ously never had this happen before either, told us that we would have to be disqualified. Furious, we walked back to our room. Jessica, still mad, had been ironing her outfit before we left, picked up the ironing board and threw it across the room. After we calmed down and realized what had happened, we were fine; after all we had a week to do nothing now. The next day, however, while Jessica was in the shower, we got a call from Mrs. Hays asking if we could be down there in 5 minutes. We were getting another

chance to present! Banging on the door Jessica finally got out of the shower with shampoo still in her hair; we rushed down there, in heels, to present. Needless to say, we didn’t place, but it was definitely something to remember.

Jessica, if you couldn’t tell, is a very dedicated person. She is also a great friend who would go to the end of the world and back for something for her friends. Whether it’s improvis-

ing a nomination speech for Regional’s or just bringing ice cream over when we need it, she has always been there. I was lucky enough to be able to spend a week with her in Florida – talk about a week of fun. There was never a dull moment from the time we arrived to the time we left. From walking down the beach, to going crab hunting, we really became more like sisters than just best friends. Even after I ran off

with the flashlight, while we were crab hunting and crabs were climbing out of the net, she stayed around. She is always the one who you can hear com-ing down the hall because her laugh is so unique. People say they are unique; they don’t know unique until they have met the one and only Jessica Jones.

Keioshia AndersonBy Layken Myatt

“CHRISTYNE!!” If Keioshia sees me at school, she doesn’t yell for me by my first name, but my middle name. Why? I have never really figured that out. Keioshia is my best friend and has been since sophomore year of high school. We have gone to school to-gether since elementary school, but we didn’t really get close until sophomore year when we had just about every class together. We got seated next to each other in Biology and we soon made a bond that would never be bro-ken. Usually people get the impression that Keioshia is really quiet; but once you get to know her, you will realize that she is the opposite of quiet.

I remember the first time that Keioshia ever came to my house; she didn’t really talk at first but my family

soon brought her out of her shell. She isn’t much of a country girl; so when my little brother talked her into riding a four-wheeler for the first time, I laughed so hard that I thought I was going to pee myself. She was so scared but after they stopped, she wanted to go again. Keioshia is a fashionista and she loves going through all of my clothes and making outfits for me. She loves fashion but doesn’t have a prob-lem coming to school in sweatpants and t-shirts either. Keioshia doesn’t really care what anyone thinks about her and that is one thing that I love about her. No matter where we are or what we are doing, we always have fun together.

Layken MyattBy Keioshia Anderson

It all started in Mrs. Wedgewood’s 1st block Biology class, the begin-ning of our Sophomore year. We were all going around, trying to see what classes had together. Layken and I happened to look at each other’s schedule and notice we had every class together, except one.

prom. As we walked out of the dress-ing room and looked in the mirrors, we saw two older women behind us trying on wedding and bridesmaids dresses. One was tall and brown and the other was short and white. We started to watch them take selfies and do crazy things. They screamed and jumped up and down in their dresses because they were overly excited that they found the perfect dresses. All of a sudden, we hear Lori say, “Look, y’all, it’s you two in ten years!” We laughed so hard at that because it actually looked like something we would do!

Before Layken got her license we use to go outside late at night, sit in her car, and listen to music. One night, I decided it would be a great idea to get out and dance like a crazy person in the driveway. After doing it for like 2 minutes, her dad comes outside. I tried to be sneaky and hop in the car before he saw me. He comes up to the car door and said, “Uhhh, I was just going to tell you to turn your car on.” He went back into the house. *10 minutes later* I got out of the car thinking he was not going to come outside, and started dancing again…and here he comes.

(I had a late start jumping in the car this time). He comes up to the door laughing and said, “You can turn your car off now.” I have never felt so embarrassed in my life.

Let me tell you a little about Layken Christyne. She is a gorgeous, kind-hearted girl who is crazy about sour cherries and Hunter Hayes. She HATES fish, except for Nemo, and her favorite color is purple. Layken is the type of girl who can always make you laugh. She keeps a smile on her face even when something is wrong. She is sweet and friendly to everyone she meets.

She is my BEST friend and I know she’ll be my best friend until the very end. Whenever I need a hand, she’s always there right beside me. Whenever I’m in the dark, she’ll be the bright light to guide me. I know I drive her crazy…sometimes. I know I call her crazy, and that’s most times. She completes me, and that’s no lie. She’s like the tuxedo and I’m the bowtie. If I need help with something, she’ll do her best to try and help me. I think of Layken more like a little sister because she’s more than just a friend. She can tell when something is wrong just by

looking at my face. She has my back through whatever, just like I have hers.

Whenever Layken and I are together, we always manage to have a good time. We enjoy shopping and going out to eat to just lounging around in our pajamas and eating junk food. Anything we do, we know how to enjoy it and make it fun.

Shelbi WigginsBy Jessica Jones

Smiley. This used to be the nick-name that Shelbi grew accustomed to during track in our early years. I suppose this is where our friend-ship really started – running track together. Shelbi and I are technically 5th cousins through marriage; that is far enough apart that nobody else would even call that being related…but I do! She is by far my closest and favorite cousin, just to put that out there. We have been through quite a bit together. Everything from the day that I threw a dead fish over her fence (it was a while ago, don’t worry), to Fall Break when I tried to make her kiss a crab. We are pretty much expert crab hunters, I’ll go ahead and say. While we were in Florida almost every night she’d grab a flashlight and I’d grab my flimsy little butterfly net and we’d go crab hunting. We’d walk along the shore line, see a crab in the water, and run like maniacs after it. We were probably pretty comical to watch, it’s hard to chase something tiny while the tide is rolling in! The fun part was actually trying to catch

the crab because it would either skit-ter away from us and we’d fall over trying to chase it or it’d chase us and we’d fall over trying to run away! Whenever we did catch a crab, we mainly just took pictures of our victory and then let it go. But one time when I caught a HUGE crab and picked the net up, it crawled out of the net and up the stick that I was holding! SHE screamed and ran away taking the flash light with her leaving ME alone in the dark with the crab! So naturally I dropped the net and ran too! That happened sev-eral times actually. The great thing about Shelbi though is she always came back for me, even though I tried to make her kiss a crab. Our story isn’t over; we still have 4 years together at Murray State for more craziness! So watch out!

Hagen GholsonBy John Plumley

Throwing ironing boards, witness-ingDo you have that one friend who just thinks they can make it? Hagen Gholson is that one friend. I know from experience that if something comes up that seems like a minor problem, he will just keep on truckin’. Hagen and I were out riding around in Paducah. We left Steak ‘N’ Shake when we heard a loud snapping sound. We thought “Oh, no big deal.” Well, when we turned to go back towards the house I heard Hagen say “I gotta little play in my steering.” Then that little play in the steering turned into no steering. Hagen and I were driving 55mph with no steering at all. Hagen’s “I think we can make it”, turned into “Oh crap, we’re in trouble now.” We stopped to see the steering gear box bolts had broken. Then, Devin Redfern showed up to make sure we were ok. That’s when the “We can make it” turned from fun and games to “Oh crap, we’re in trouble now.” Hagen is the type of friend who will drop everything if you needed help with something. Hagen will come to your

rescue even if he is busy, just to come pull you out of a mud hole. Hagen is a tall kinda goofy looking guy but is willing to help you in any way possible. He won’t stand you up for something else.

Johnny PlumleyBy Justin Dyson

You know that one friend that always manages to tear something up? Well, boy I do! Johnny has been my best friend since I can remember and

every memory I have with him consists of something getting broken, smashed, or just plain screwed up. One main memory involves us just hanging out being bored, when the next thing we know were pulling a go kart out of the weeds to hook it behind a truck. We got tired of just pulling it so we loosened the lug nuts and made the wheels fall off one by one. We were trying to get the back one off when all

of a sudden the front one passed right by him!!

Johnny is a good kid who’s always willing to help if you’re in need. He’s always helped me whenever I’ve needed it. But if he doesn’t like you, you’ll know it! He’s always just a call away when I need something. If I need help at the farm he’s always there to help. The main reason that Johnny and I are friends is just because we’ve

always been there for each other when we needed something or just wanted to hangout. Probably the main things we enjoy doing together are just hanging out, going to town, or riding around on four-wheelers or in the truck out on the farm!

Justin DysonBy Tracy Armer

Ol’ Mr. Justin Dyson is from way out in New York. He is usually a pretty good guy until we get together, then we start breaking stuff. Once, we had the idea that we were going to build a saw that hooks up to the 3 point hitch on a tractor so we could cut his mother’s flowers down.

Have you ever wrecked your truck? Well, Justin Dyson has – he was rear-ended. After that, he got a new truck that is a lot better looking than his old one. Justin has always been a good friend and I can rely on him for help if I need it. Sometimes we may argue while we are trying to figure something out, but we always figure it out.

Larrah BurgessBy Jade Babb

The first thing you would notice about Larrah is her carefree attitude; this is probably why I was so drawn to her in grade school. Larrah and I have been best friends for as long as I can remember! We have made more than memories; we have made a bond and a friendship that has lasted this long and for years to come. Our favorite thing to do is to cruise around the bottoms with the windows down and jam to good music, normally she or I would have our feet hanging out the window. My favorite memory with Larrah is when we played little league basketball and softball together and we would beg our parents to let one of us stay the night with the other one. We would stay up all night and read her sister’s notes that she hid in a box. We do a lot together, whether it’s picking out prom dresses, laying out by the pool, goofing off or just making a midnight run to McDon-ald’s. Another memory of mine is when we sat in Danielle’s garage and had one of the best heart to hearts I’ve ever had with a friend. It’s so

easy talking to her which is a great quality to have in a friend. Larrah portrays lots of qualities that I love in a friend. She’s always more than understanding; she has been through a lot in her life so this has made her such a strong girl and she can relate to anything I face. She always just wants to have fun and not worry; so, most of the time we are just having a blast doing dumb stuff together and not worrying about anything. At times when I’m stressed or upset, hanging out with Larrah can serious-ly take my mind off anything. She has been there for me when I needed her the most. I can call her up at any time to talk or to come get me to just drive around. Larrah is always down for anything. All of this, plus much more, makes me truly grateful to call her my BFF. I love her to the moon and back.

Millicent GreenBy Hailey Houston

You could say we’re one of a kind with our crazy but humorous shenanigans. There’s never a dull moment in our friendship; we can

make an 8 hour trip to Destin the best time of your life. All of this comes from soccer, though. Soccer has been a blessing in my life for more than one reason, but finding Millie and knowing what a true friend is was one of the greatest. It doesn’t matter whether we’re having a twerk contest with our soccer girls, or coaching our U-8 team, laughs are always in the air. Others usually say our relationship is above the normal friendship, but we just laugh and say “You’re the one missing out on a real

friendship, so who’s the real winner here?” That last phrase is pretty much how we describe everything; you’re always a winner when you have great best friend.

Jade BabbBy Larrah Burgess

“Making a million friends is not a miracle; the miracle is to make a friend who will stand up for you when millions are against you.” This quote describes one of my longest

and best friends, Jade Babb. It began when we played little league basketball and softball in grade school. Something drew me to Jade, whether it be that she could make me laugh or the fact that she rolls with the punches; she even knows how to deal with my quirks and faults. She is patient with me when I make mistakes, even big ones, and we have learned how to forgive each other. She treats me as she would want me to treat her, even when I wasn’t at my best. We get each other and we relate to each others struggle. Jade is one of my closest friends because she can make me laugh even when I’m ready to give up. She has been there through the good and bad times, between my dad passing away or my mom going to jail; she was there for all of it and she never gave up on me. Jade stuck beside me when she could have left. To me, there isn’t much more you could ask from a friend and I couldn’t repay Jade for what she has done for me. I could never thank her enough. Honestly, we just enjoy having fun and going with the flow. We like riding through the bottoms, going to Paducah just because we are bored,

or just sitting at home watching movies. No matter what we do, we always make the most out of it. I love the fact that she realizes that life is too short to take it for granted and not make the most of every moment. One of my favorite memories with this girl would be our heart-to-heart conversation we had this year. It honestly had to be the best and most relieving talk I’ve ever had. We talked, cried, and laughed. We poured our hearts out to each other and it was one of the best memories of my life. Some other memories are prom dress shopping to prom itself; jamming and cruising around good ole’ BC; from sports to shopping. We’ve done it all. Jade and I get along; we just click. Our friendship is one of a kind and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Even when millions were against me, she stood right be-side me. We have had rough patches, but it only made us stronger. I’m beyond blessed to have a friendship like mine and Jade’s. I love you!

Hailey HoustonBy Millie Green

“You and I are more than friends;

we’re like a really small gang.” Friendship is about finding

people who are your kind of “crazy.” That’s just what I’ve found in my best friend Bridget Hailey. We often get weird looks and giggles from onlookers, but we are most content when we’re laughing at something no one else understands or display-ing our affectionate relationship by “necking” (hugging with your neck only). Sometimes we get asked if we’re twelve, to which we always reply “On a scale of 1 to 10!” Our friends don’t even quite understand the level our friendship is on. We like to call it “Too Turnt.” One interesting fact about our friendship is that we even have compatible horoscopes; our strong personalities complement each other and balance out our crazy. My favorite thing about my friendship with Hailey is that it developed through a mutual interest. We began playing on the same competitive soccer team when we were still in elementary school and to this day there’s no one else I could have more fun playing with. I’m so thankful I met that awkward 10 year old girl on the soccer field 8 years ago.

Aaron BarbeeBy Karson Scott

Aaron Barbee is a real class act. He likes to go fast and race four-wheelers and his Nan can make some real good chicken enchiladas, the best of the best. His Pap is one cool guy, but he doesn’t like our

other best friend, Derrick Kearney; he always gets him good when we go over to his house. We call our-selves the three dodos because we are all best friends, close almost like brothers. I remember this one time when we were all standing outside; I don’t know what was wrong with us we were just being goofy that

night. We sat on my truck tailgate and talked about if Aaron’s Pappy ever had a baby with a pterodactyl. This baby would have the body of a goblin, the wings of a pterodactyl, the head of his pappy, and a big ol’ Dungeons and Dragons battle axe. There was also this one time when I was over at Barbee’s and I got on his racing four-wheeler and tried to ride it; we call it Big Green. When I popped the clutch it threw me off of it. One time Derrick, Aaron, and I were on his bed playing games and Barbee got excited; he jumped up on the bed and broke its frame. All together we are “ride or dies”; they are my best friends in the world, more like brothers, though.

Derrick KearneyBy Aaron Barbee

Derrick Kearney, when you think of it, is a one of a kind person. Who could miss him in the halls? If you’re looking for him, look for the brightest object around. He is in the process of converting to be 100% pure country. As he likes to listen to Sonny Moore’s Skrillex, he loves to fish and hunt, and his friends Barbee

and Karson are going to convert him all the way. All in all he is a good country boy. He is the proud and honorable son of Angelia and Edward Kearney. He is a brother to two of his very best friends Karson Scott and Aaron Barbee. He is a funny little man who acts like a big dog, but really is a kind, gentle soul. To describe Kearney is like trying to define every word in the Webster’s dictionary – it cannot be done. He likes to spend his days chilling with his two bros fishing and mudding, just having a good ole country boy time. We love Kearney to death and he will be forever our brother. I remember this one time Karson told me a story about how Derrick is ter-rified of chickens. He said that it was on the day Derrick and he got back from fishing and Derrick had not seen Karson’s rooster. Derrick didn’t know what he was getting into until Karson put him in the chicken house. He said the next thing he heard was Kearney crying and screaming “Let me out, dude, this isn’t cool. Let me out now!” He said that Derrick burst out of the chicken coop and started beating on Karson for terrifying him like that.

Breana KoontzBy Realynn Walls

My absolute best friend would definitely be Breana! From first meeting in fifth grade, and getting in trouble for asking her to remove a gripper that was stuck on my finger, to actually realizing this is our last year of high school, she has always

been the girl I go to for anything! Trustful, honest, caring and depend-able are just a few words to describe her. There will never be a time when I will need something and she won’t be there to help. Like everyone, we have our arguments, but it’s guaran-teed that in five minutes we will be perfectly fine! I believe everything happens for a reason, and she’s

always been there because she’s the true definition of a best friend. It never fails, everyday we have new memories; most of the time they are the craziest memories, too. That’s what I love about our friendship – we have so many memories that we cherish. One time we went to the lakes camping with my mom and dad. That was one mistake we swore would never happen again. It was so hot and there we were, in a little two person tent, cursing ourselves for going. To the left we had coyotes; to the right we had crazy people throwing one heck of a party (no, we weren’t invited). We were so mad. We had to walk almost a mile just to use the bathroom. There were no showers and we didn’t realize that until it was too late. Let’s just say, we weren’t the happiest campers, lit-erally. There are too many memories to share, but I can honestly say that without this girl, I have no clue what I would do! I would be lost. I love you Bre!

Charlotte BerryBy Desiree Wilcox

I met Charlotte in third grade

on the playground. I’ll never forget the time Charlotte came to my 15th birthday party and she told me she was scared of and disgusted by frogs. Well, we were swimming and I got the idea to scare her, so I got out of the pool and pretended I had a frog in my hand. It was really one of those Silly-Bands everyone used to wear. I chased her around the yard for about 10 minutes, so every time I say I have a frog she usually runs and screams! Charlotte can be VERY shy but once you get to know her she’s LOUD and can get red faced easily. She is quiet, smart, sweet, and always has a smile on her face. I’m definitely her friend today because when I’m around her I can’t help but laugh – she laughs at everything! She’s always there to listen when I need a friend and can help with whatever she can. We usually laugh or joke about something even when it’s not supposed to be funny. We like hanging out at bonfires and talk-ing non-stop – really just hanging out doing... nothing.

Congrats Seniors 2014!

Meeting Desiree for the first time, I would have never expected to still be best friends with her today. I re-member it was the first day of school in 3rd grade, Mrs. Henson’s home-room, when I met Desiree. My best friend was Bailey Weatherford and so was Desiree’s. Bailey introduced me and Desiree to each other. That day I didn’t think we would ever talk again. As our 3rd grade year went on, we became good friends. Now that we’ve gone through elementary, middle, and high school together, we’re as close as we could ever be.

Desiree was voted Worst Driver her senior year and I know why. I remember the first time Desiree got her license. The McCracken County Fair was going on and she asked if I wanted to go with her. I said yes, not knowing what I was about to experience. So, Desiree, Realynn Walls, Halie Gaskins, and I all went up to Paducah together. We had a little time to waste so we went to the mall. In front of the mall there are four lanes and as Desiree was driving, looking for a place to park, we realized that she was driving on the wrong side of the road. All three of us were yelling frantically

“Desiree! You’re on the wrong side of the road! You’re going to get us in a wreck!” She finally got into the mall parking lot, but parked in a non-parking area. Needless to say, that’s basically how the rest of our night went. Besides her reckless driving skills, Desiree is great at being a best friend. She knows exactly what to say in every situation. She knows how to cheer you up when you need it the most. There’s not another person like her and that’s why she’s my friend.

Realynn WallsBy Charlotte Berry

I met Realynn in middle school and ever since then she has been a great friend. She has helped me a lot; if I’m down she is always there to lift me back up. She gives the best advice, so I’m glad to have a friend like her. Realynn is crazy and outgo-ing; she always makes me laugh. We always have a good time together no matter what we are doing, whether we are just sitting at the house or out doing something. And if she’s ever upset or down, just say “LLAMAS” and she’ll crack up!

Gavin WilliamsBy Jacob Rambo

I met Realynn in middle school andLet me tell you a little some-thing about my boy Gavin Williams. Gavin is very smart and sophisti-cated when he wants to be. Gavin is also an attractive young man, plus the fact that he is a varsity baseball player, gives him the advantage with the girls! He has taught me many valuable lessons including always having a good attitude and always looking on the positive side

when you aren’t having a good day or something is not going how you expected it to go. I’ll never forget the day we met. He couldn’t stand me; he thought I was the cockiest and most self-conceited person ever. It wasn’t until sophomore year when he realized that he was wrong about me. It turns out that we actually have everything in common, other than the fact that he plays baseball and I play football. When we have a day off from school or on the weekends you can always find us together do-ing some “goon stuff.” We’re always

together. I can’t even count the amount of times I’ve crashed at his Nana’s with him; that is pretty much my second home. If you’re looking for one of us, you’re probably going to find both of us. Everybody in Ballard, and even some in Paducah, know about our friendship. You can always find us fishing or riding around the bottoms or the refuge. When there’s a party that’s going on anywhere in Western Kentucky you better believe that Shawn Johnson and Gavin Williams will be there. Hopefully, Gavin and I will be able to continue our friendship as we go onto different colleges next year.

Shawn JohnsonBy Devoun Bledsoe

Shawn Johnson... He is an intel-ligent young man! He thinks he is the best dressed guy and from my perspective he is, it was 8th grade year around spring football and my dad was coaching. I have never seen this guy in my life but we had a scrimmage that day and Trevor Langston and I were team captains

and we both were picking people to join our team and Shawn was a really quiet and nice shaped guy so I picked him and he played receiver for me and later that day Shawn had 3 touchdowns and over 100 yards surprisingly. As years past Shawn and I have came a lot closer. We played football for all 4 years of high school and we both were selected all wkc and team captain it has been a

great senior year.

Wesley BoultonBy Zachary McAfee

The familiar words of the phrase, “Bruh, you suck,” is what I hear every day when walking to fourth hour. Well, of course, you know I say something back; I always tell him “you mad because you is ugly.”

He thinks he has a step-back like his favorite player, Kobe Bryant, but he doesn’t so don’t tell him. Our friendship started in the 4th grade, on the first day of football practice. We always had that little fiery competiveness with each other when it came to sports. For example, we play basketball at least once a week and it gets pretty intense. It’s actually funny because he thinks he has “hops,” but he has yet to dunk on me. Honestly this year he turned out to be one of my best friends

Zachary McAfee By Wesley Boulton

Even though I’m better than him at everything, he still thinks differently. Our friendship began on the football field in 4th grade. Since we have gotten older we still play football together and snag on people. I remember going to his house when we were little and playing Guitar Hero all night long. Zach thinks he has good hands, but they aren’t anywhere as good as mine. We hang out a lot more than we used to when we were little. I’m all the time over at his house playing ball with him

and dunking on him. We have got-ten closer since we’ve been in high school together. We tell each other everything; some stuff you don’t want to hear about. We are even going to college together. Been Bros since day one; don’t think much is going to change.

Kelsey Moore By Josh Moss

Every day at Ballard Memorial High School I go throughout my day without anything interesting happening. Somehow, every single day, I walk into my third block class and my little cousin Kelsey Moore has the craziest stories to tell me. I hear about all the insane and crazy things she did over the weekend and the night before. I’ve adopted her as a little sister and I always have her back. She’s one of the very few people you can tell anything to, and it won’t get out of your little group.

Kelsey is one of those people who doesn’t care about anyone’s opinions, which is admirable because I’m the exact same way. Since she’s always so busy with her friends, she never has any time for

me outside of school. It makes me sad. She always knows how to make me laugh whenever I’m in a bad mood. Whenever I moved to Ballard my sophomore year, she absolutely hated me. Now we talk every single day and I would say we’re pretty good friends. I wouldn’t change that for anything! Kelsey Moore has been one of the few true friends at this school and I’m lucky to be able to call her that. She’s liked by everyone who knows her and she is the kind of person to be nice to you whether you like her or not.

If you ever see this girl out just say “Hey” to her and you’ll end up in a 2 hour conversation about hip-pos riding on scooters, that’s how easy she is to talk to. The key to be her best friend? Be yourself. Don’t be fake. Don’t lie or talk about her behind her back. She’ll like you right back!

Walking into BMHS in the morn-ings you will see several people, but there is one kid who stands out beyond imagine. This kid has several

nicknames: “Sasquatch,” “Jolly Green Giant,” and “Skyscraper.” You may think that’s a bit rude, but being 6’5”, you learn to accept the nicknames. Every day when I get to school I seem him towering above all the kids and, no matter what, he always has a smile on his face.

Josh Moss has been my best friend since junior year and he has been in my family for several years before then. He is one of the very few people I trust with anything and everything. He is always there and he always has the funniest stories to tell me. Most of the time in Ad-vanced P.E. we don’t even work out; we just tell each other funny stories from the weekend. One thing that sticks in my mind about Josh is his opinion. Josh is the most opinion-ated guy at BMHS. If he doesn’t like you, he will be sure that you know it. He is a great guy and, if you really get to know him, his gigantic figure won’t scare you at all. He is just a big teddy bear.

If you ever see Josh out some-where, don’t be scared to say hello, because he will have the longest con-versations with you and make you laugh through the entire conversa-

tion. He may look scary, and he may be tall, but he hates it when he goes somewhere and people just stare. No matter what, he will always be my friend and he will always be there for me when I have a crazy story to tell. He’s one of the coolest guys at BMHS.

Devin Holmes By Trevor Langston

Devin Holmes and I have been in school together since first grade. I didn’t really know him that well in elementary school but toward the end of our middle school years we

became friends.

Devin and I haven’t really done a lot together but we have done some things. For example, we have been fishing before and we used to hang out in the La Center Park. Devin is an outgoing and fun person to be around. He speaks his mind and will hang out with just about anyone. Devin is a good friend.

Trevor Langston By Madison Wilson

I have known Trevor Langston ever since 4th grade basketball. We have grown up together since then and he’s one of the closest friends I have. We have played sports together since elementary school; we used to go to the lake every summer and goof-off. We did some pretty ignorant things, I’m not going to lie, but had a good time every summer. I remember hunting with Trevor, play-ing football, and building random shacks and hangouts back in the day. I’ve had some pretty good memories with Trevor, from chasing my dogs to riding four wheelers, even going to parties together – basically doing

everything together all summer. I can say that I’ve had some of the best memories with this crazy. Some of them probably weren’t the best, but they were fun. The best things in life, though, are the memories you made.

Ethan Deweese By Logan Davis

One spring night, some friends of mine, including Ethan Deweese, were at the Plex. We were there to climb a rope that led up to the ceil-ing, and to show off our acrobatics. Fueled by manliness and testoster-one, we tried to prove to one another that we could scale this rope. One after another, we conquered the rope. Chad first, then me, and after that it was Ethan’s turn to step up to the plate. Gripping the rope skin-tight, he inched his way up the top, getting closer and closer to overpowering the obstacle. Finally he had done it! He made it to the very top and had defeated what no one thought he could. But everyone knows that little saying, “What goes up…must come down…” Without using his legs as brakes, he slid down only using the death grip of his bare hands. Shred-ded and frayed, his hands had seen better days. But, it was one of those times you couldn’t help but laugh at his pain. He didn’t take it to heart.

It is stories like this that make me wish I had lived-out high school to its full potential. I wish I filled my teenage years with more memories with the people that meant most to me. Not many people are fortunate enough to be surrounded by great friends like Ethan Deweese. But if you are, and you find good friends to be with you, then make sure you keep them close. They are rare to say the least. One thing I know for sure is that after I graduate, and maybe leave and never look back again, I will know for sure that I will NEVER forget Ethan.

Logan Davis By Ethan Deweese

If you go to Ballard Memorial High School, you know him. He’s talkative, funny, smart, and he isn’t afraid to tell you if he doesn’t like something. If you’re going to be a friend of mine you’ll have to deal with me being mean and you have to be a jerk to me as well. That is why Logan Davis is one of my better friends. He’s a bit of a dare-devil, too. Shortly after the 4th of July all of my buddies and me, includ-ing Logan Davis, went to Weston’s house with a bunch of fireworks

and explosives. Well, we all got our fireworks together and went to the pond. That’s when we started shoot-ing bottle rockets at each other. Then I got the bright idea of grabbing a huge mortar light it and throwing it in the pond. As soon as I lit it, Logan Davis lit a bottle rocket and sent it right at me. I jumped and rolled, try-ing to get away and thankfully I did. But I soon remembered that I had a lit mortar in my hand. Panicking and not thinking, I threw it straight towards Logan and the rest of the group (there might have been some anger involved). Luckily, there was some time left and everyone made it out, but then there was a hole in Weston’s yard. Oh, and we blew up a microwave.

Cera Peck By Taylor Raffety

It was the beginning of my 8th grade year and my best friend had just moved away. I was devastated and lost without her, but that was when I met Cera Peck. Cera was new to Ballard County, having lived in Washington state beforehand, so of course she didn’t know anyone at school. I could tell she felt left out and without my best friend by my side, our acquaintance status natu-rally segued into friendship.

I remember her first birthday in Kentucky. We spent the night at her house and watched tons of mov-ies in her camper. What was most memorable, though, was the cake,

if you could call it that. Because it didn’t all come out of the pan as it was supposed to, probably because of something we failed to do, we had to mash it and keep it together with icing. Needless to say, it was disastrous! No worries, though, it still tasted delicious!

This is what I love about Cera: her ability to make the most of every situation. She is NOT afraid to tell her opinion and can sometimes have an attitude, but that is just part of her personality, one that I’ve gotten used to over the years. Although I know life gets in the way of friendship sometimes, I trust that the memories we’ve made together will stand the test of time.

Taylor Raffety By Cera Peck

When I moved to Kentucky in the eighth grade, I started school alone, and sat alone a lot. Until Taylor intervened. She invited me to her lunch table, and then into her life. I now consider her to be one of my best friends, and the memories we share; from the disastrous, more than ugly cake we made for my four-teenth birthday party, to mall outings full of laughs. We’ve had serious talks, and pointless giggle fests, and day after day I know that if I call, she’ll be there.

If anyone were to ask a member of the senior class who they thought the valedictorians would be, Taylor and I would be two of the first names that came to mind. We are the smart kids. We are the ones that everyone would expect to get voted teacher’s pet, even though neither of us did. Usually, the smart kids don’t get along, because they are always competing against one another for some level of academic success. Don’t get me wrong, Taylor and I

definitely compete, but we always manage to look past the grades and awards because our friendship is more important.

Taylor is a woman of strong faith, that sets a high example for me and her other friends. I love sitting in Sunday school arguing viewpoints with her, knowing that at the end of the day we might not agree, but we’ll still be close. Taylor and I are completely different people, from our taste in guys, to our view of the world, but this is another successful case of “opposites attract.” We may be different, but we’ll be friends for a long time yet.

Madeline Watwood By Taylor Cooper

“It seems they always had been, and always would be, friends. Time could change much, but not that.” – Winnie Pooh

This quote explains the relation-ship I have with my best friend, Madeline. Ever since I met her in my kindergarten class and realized she was just as weird as I am, we’ve had an inseparable friendship. Even when she moved to Wisconsin (what felt like half way across the country), we still remained best friends. Before she moved in 7th grade, she persuaded me to try out for the middle school cheer squad. Although I wasn’t into cheerleading that much, I did so we could participate in it together. Unfortunately, we never cheered together before she moved. I’ve stuck with it, though. When she moved back in 11th grade, she tried out for the high school cheerleading squad. What we had planned in 7th grade was actually going to happen; we could finally enjoy our passion together. We’ve cheered together for two years now and it has brought us closer than ever. I couldn’t ask for

Page 16 Celebrate The Graduate • 2014 May 28, 2014

Page 25: 052814 page complete

a better best friend. The memories we’ve made together in cheerlead-ing, McDonald’s runs, fishing, and much more, will always hold a spe-cial place in my heart. We may argue and do crazy things and no one may understand our weird friendship, but I couldn’t imagine what my past two years would’ve been like without her. Now that it’s time to move on from high school, I know we will still remain the best of friends.

Taylor Cooper By Madeline Watwood

Throughout my junior and senior years, not only did I enjoy cheerlead-ing at Ballard Memorial, I am also very blessed to say that I was able to spend that much extra time with my best friend. Taylor and I have known each other since we started school in kindergarten, though we didn’t have any classes together until we were much older – it was then that we realized how many similarities

we had. Though she is usually shy and quiet, she is probably one of the funniest people I have ever been around. I simply cannot imagine how much different the last years of my cheerleading career would have been without Taylor on the team, and without all the time we had to spend together. I can’t begin to relive all the memories we have together, since we are around each other almost every day, but I do know every laugh that we have shared is a part of a friendship that will never be forgotten. From our middle school years, where climbing around on hay bales was the adventure of the week, to every weekend since that almost always involves McDonald’s or some other food we love. I know that no matter which direction we go in life, we will always have a strong friendship with each other, and never have a dull moment together. I think Taylor has definitely been one of the largest parts of my life throughout high school and the fact that we will

not be far away in college reassures me that my best friend and I will never grow too far apart. Though in some ways we may be different, she and I will have the ability to endure whatever challenges we are faced with, knowing that our friendship is based on faith, laughter, and memories.

Georgann Ingram By Raevyn Halliwell

Georgann Ingram is a very unique individual. Even if you haven’t officially met Georgann, you’ve probably seen her with her friends acting silly. If you have a class with her, she’s either the girl with the book, or the girl getting told by the teacher to be quiet. I met Georgann in 5th grade when I moved to Ballard for one single month. I moved away and then came back for 7th grade. Even though I only knew her for that one month before moving again, we reunited in middle school. This time we became BFFs and were joined at the hip. I love Georgann because she is a weirdo like me. When I tell a stupid joke or make a movie reference, Georgann is the only one to laugh and get what I’m saying. When I go to Georgann’s house, we do the same things each time: sing karaoke, dance, and of course, prank call people. The best part of spending the night at her house: waking up to the best pan-cakes ever!!!

Freshman year was when The Three Amigos were formed; though now I realize we should’ve been called The Three Amigas…oh well! Mr. Shelton doesn’t have to know about that. Georgann Ingram, Bethany Parker, and I were best friends that anybody could ever have. If you caught us at the mall on the right day, you’d see Bethany and me running up to completely random

strangers, annoying them and acting like fools, while Georgann followed behind, face-palming, pretending she didn’t know who we were. She was more like the mother to us two wild children – keeping us just a tad bit sane, and feeding us “Jesus pancakes from heaven.” Unfortunately, our trio was broken apart when Bethany moved to another school, because she’s obviously too cool for us.

Georgann is a really good friend. Through all of my tears and hard times, she always was there for me. I know that even if we grow apart, I can always go to her in a time of need and she will be there. Some-times it’s hard to know if you really are important to someone, and it you really are loved by them. With Georgann, I know I am loved and cared about. I hope we stay in touch throughout our lives, and hopefully we’ll get to go to Vegas like I always pictured: acting two crazy fools as always, going wild and being free.

Jasmine Goodman By Elizabeth Chadwick

I met Jasmine Goodman at the end of seventh grade. We were in the same testing group, Mrs. Bertram’s, and one of my other friends introduced us. Ever since, she’s been one of my closest friends. We’ve gone to midnight premiers together, we sit in the library and read together, and I try my best to keep her out of trouble.

I remember the first midnight premier I ever went to. It was “The Hunger Games”, and I went with Michael (my brother), Jasmine, and another kid. Let me tell you, that girl can get pretty slap-happy at three o’clock in the morning. The other midnight premier we went to was “The Avengers” with Dad, Jazz (Jas-mine), and another girl. If there’s ever a “nerd” movie to be seen, you

can almost bet Jasmine and I will be there.

Jasmine and I have about the same taste in books. This one book series we’re re-reading now (the Christy Miller, Sierra Jensen, Christy and Todd: The College Years, and the Katie Weldon series) is one I gave to her when I was trying to make more room on my bookshelves. The last book in the series came out recently and we’re trying to re-read the rest of them to remember everything. Jasmine and I breathe books.

Jasmine, as a general rule, is extremely opinionated. She is not afraid to express those opinions. To anyone. Anywhere. She is also extremely protective and will do anything or say anything to defend a friend. It’s for this reason that I have to try and keep her out of trouble most days in the one class we have together this year. She agrees with me. I’m probably one of the reasons she was not in A-school all through high school.

All in all, you couldn’t possibly ask for a better friend than Jasmine Goodman. She may tell you exactly what she thinks of you, but at least you know she’ll be honest most of the time. And when she’s not, you can tell when she’s lying. Even after we graduate, if there’s no one else I keep in contact with once I go to college, I will try my best to keep in contact with her.

Jessica Green By Elizabeth Chadwick

Do you have those friends who you know they’re your friends, but you don’t exactly recall how you got to be that way? One of those friends of mine is Jessica Green. I don’t exactly remember how we became friends, but I know that, ever since I came here in the middle of seventh

grade, we’ve been close. We’ve helped each other in more ways than either of us could imagine. In more ways than we can count.

Some of my more recent memories of Jessica (hereafter referred to as Jess) include being in the same classes as her. Last year (junior year) we were both in the same Music Theory class. Being in band for six years, I helped her and another friend get through the class. She, in turn, helped me to realize what it meant to be a good friend to her and another friend who was going through the same sort of things as she was. This year in our Life Skills class, we’ve become even closer. One of our other friends has been going through a hard time this year, and we’re part of the select group of people that cares about the situation. That situation has brought us closer than ever.

Jess is a protective, strong, opinionated young woman who is willing to do whatever needs to be done to help her friends. Those are the qualities I admire in people, and I wish I were more like those people. She gets a righteous anger when something happens to one of her friends or family members and wants to avenge any wrong done to them. If one of her friends is in a dispute with another of her friends, she tries to get the two of them to make up, and if they won’t do it, she

stays friends with the both of them. Her friends accept this and don’t try to get her to stop hanging out with people they don’t like.

I have stayed friends with Jess this long because she was one of my first friends here at Ballard. I take great stock in what I call “first friends” and if a person shows me kindness in the first days at a place, I will stick with them until they tell me to get lost. Jess is so loyal to her friends that she will stick with me until the end. She has all of the qual-ities that I wish I could have. I call her my friend because she has stuck with me this long and will continue to do so.

Raevyn Halliwell By Georgann Ingram

I first met Raevyn in fifth grade when she moved to Ballard for one month. We became best friends re-ally quick; we had the same sense of humor and liked the same things. I was devastated when I heard she was leaving, but we still kept in touch. Then she moved back in 7th grade and once again we were just as close as before. I thought I would have one more year but she moved before eighth grade. Then she moved back again her freshman year and has been here ever since.

Our sophomore year, which may have been my favorite year of high

school, Raevyn, Bethany Parker, and I formed a trio known as the Three Amigos. We were inseparable and if you saw one of us walking through the school we were usually never alone. We joined the Art club and FBLA that year and went on most of the trips. My two favorite trips were the Art club’s trip to Garden of the Gods and FBLA’s Six Flags trip. The three of us wandered through Garden of the Gods taking pictures and cracking jokes. Then, during the Six Flags trip we went on almost every roller coaster and went on a “man hunt.”

Raevyn is one of the most artistic people I know. We both love movies but her passoin goes deeper than just the entertainment factor. She wants a career in film, which is an amazing and difficult career, but I know she can do it. She is hilarious if you get to know her and she always tells me how “I am the only one who gets her humor” (movie humor mostly), which can be true. We like a lot of the same movies so I get most of her jokes. She is also a great artist who can paint and use many other mediums.

We have a very similar view on things, which can be hard to find in a small town, unless you go with the crowd. She is unique, funny, talented, and a very loyal friend.

Anytime we hangout or spend the night we usually end up watch-ing movies. watching videos on YouTube, or just singing along to ka-raoke. We usually find a way to have fun when we hangout or just talk about everything going on, whether it’s school or the latest drama.

Raevyn is a great person to get to know and I’m glad we have been friends for as long as we have. She always gets me and by now I have seen her at her craziest and gotten to know her sane side, too.

Elizabeth Chadwick By Jasmine Goodman

She’s smart, loyal, and likes people, despite how weird or temperamental they may be. That is why she is my best friend. I first met Elizabeth in eighth grade when she moved here from Calloway. One of our favorite authors would define her being put in my life as a “God thing.”

“[A God-thing is] when some-thing happens in your life, and you look at it and can’t explain how or why it happened, but you know there’s a reason for it. You know that God is doing something in your life, and it changes you. There’s no other

way to explain it except to see it as a God thing.”

– Robin Jones GunnIsland Dreamer

I am not a Christian, but she is. She has a deep belief in the fact that things happen for a reason. Although we do not share the same faith, I believe she was put in my life for a reason. Occasionally we will have our arguments, but they rarely last long. If nothing else, we agree to disagree. Despite our disagree-ments, we always have one thing in common; you will never catch either of us without a book. It doesn’t matter what genre it is, she will read anything. You can often find her in the library helping Mrs. Sickling or searching for yet another book. She has shown me so many new authors that I probably never would have found without her. I am glad she was put in my life. I will miss her when we go our separate ways for college, but I hope we will always be friends despite the distance. I don’t know what I would do if I didn’t have her to talk to.

Anthony Byerley By Cheyenne Gray

I met Anthony Byerley at the end of my sophomore year in my honors English class. It was roughly March of 2012 when he walked in. I guess you could say that the rest is history. When we met, he really didn’t even say hello or anything; not even an introduction came from Mister Byerley. He just kind of gave me his number, smiled, and then walked away. I suppose the mysteriousness is what got me so hooked.

There is, though, something that gets in between Anthony and me. He hates my music, despises it even. But one night, I sat on his chest and forced him to listen to a song that meant a lot to me. I sang the lyrics to “If I’m James Dean Then You’re Audrey Hepburn” by Sleeping with Sirens. The song said everything I couldn’t. The verse that said “they say that love is forever, your forever is all that I need, please stay as long as you need. I can’t promise things won’t be broken, but I swear that I will never leave” is what really got to me. And I wanted him to hear it. After that night, he doesn’t absolute-ly loathe my music anymore.

How do I possibly describe An-thony Byerley? He’s very stubborn and hardheaded, but what can I say, so am I. He has sandy blonde hair and bright blue eyes. When I met him, I felt like I could instantly trust him and I held onto every word that came out of his mouth. When he met my father later that day, my dad told me he saw a natural leader in An-thony. In my opinion, he was right.

He was my friend for nearly two years before he gained the courage to ask me out. I said yes because he was always there for me even when I acted extremely rude to him. I was so mean to him sometimes, but if I ever needed anything, he was there and he wouldn’t hesitate. We spend a lot of time together; almost every day, actually. And as funny as this sounds, our favorite thing to do is walk the Greenway trail at the park. It’s probably the most relaxing thing we ever do together. Plus, it gives us time to ourselves; which is always important in a relationship.

Cheyenne Gray By Anthony Byerly

Most people know her as “Shay” but I know her as Cheyenne. She is one of my best friends, and she and I have been through a lot. We have had our bouts of “hating” each other but it was always over something stupid so we always made up not too long after. She is very shy, but easy to notice because she is extremely loud. She is very opinionated but only a select very few get to hear those opinions. I am one of those lucky few, thank God. She’s a huge people pleaser; she could have one dollar for lunch and someone would ask her for that dollar and she’d give it to them. Sometimes people use that to their advantage, which I don’t appreciate but stuff happens. All in all she’s one of the best people I’ve ever met.

Justin DeBaun By Anthony Byerly

Have you ever stayed up all night long and even the slightest thing is so hysterical you can’t breathe? Well I have with Justin De,Baun; and those nights were probably some of the funniest I’ve ever experienced. Justin is very shy so not very many people get to experience this; but once you get him out of his shell, he is a very interesting person. He’s one of those friends that I don’t even remember how we became friends; it was sometime in middle school I think. He and I have been through a lot and I think we’re going to be friends for as long as we live.

Abbi Denton By Shelby Rollings

Have you ever had that one friend who laughs so hard at their own jokes they can’t even tell you the joke? Yeah, I have one, and it’s Abbi Denton. Our friendship started way back in kindergarten. We’ve grown up together playing little league sports. We weren’t as close, though, until high school when we started playing varsity sports to-gether. We found ourselves cracking jokes and laughing at everything; it’s pretty easy to bond when you both think something is hilarious. Abbi is a good-hearted and happy person to be around. Her personality and humbleness shows every day in the halls of Ballard Memorial. You can tell Abbi anything and know that’s where it will stay. She can never tell a lie, so Abbi is an honest person. Senior year holds the best

memories that I have with Abbi, mainly because of soccer and bas-ketball, but we just found ourselves together a lot this year. Sharing classes and practices has made one heck of a friendship for Abbi and I. One of the best memories I have with Abbi was being there to cel-ebrate and help her succeed her goal of being in the 1,000 point club. No one on our team knew she was that close to achieving this, but I’m glad to say I helped her reach her goal as a teammate and a friend. She has recently signed to play basketball at John A. Logan next year. Needless to say, I’m going to be at as many games as I can. If it weren’t for ath-letics we may not be as close as we are today, so I am thankful for that because Abbi is now a permanent friend to me.

Lyndsey Grief By Maggie Denton

“A good friend knows all your best stories and a best friend has lived them with you.” This quote is perfect for Lyndsey and me. Fresh-man year was when my friendship began to form with Lyndsey Grief. We both have an interest in the medical field, so we found ourselves taking the same classes throughout high school. My favorite bitter-sweet moment with Lyndsey was when we competed at the HOSA state competition in Career Health Display. The occupation we chose for the project was Pediatric On-cologist. Lyndsey and I were able to go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which was a very hum-bling experience. When putting all of our information together about the occupation of Pediatric Oncolo-

gist, we decided that we needed something remarkable that would draw the judges’ attention and show how much time we put into the project. Lyndsey and Mrs. Allardin put their creative heads together and came up with the grand idea of stuffing a teddy bear with a concoc-tion called Great Stuff that would help us papier-mâché it. Yes, you did read that correctly – we were going to attempt to papier-mâché a stuffed teddy bear. When they were describing the process to me, they could tell I wasn’t following. I just couldn’t understand how we were going to do that. I would like to point out that, as you can see, Lynd-sey is very creative. The point of the teddy bear was that as a Pediatric Oncologist you work with children, so Lyndsey thought a teddy bear was the perfect symbol of childcare. Making “Ted” with Lyndsey was so much fun! We performed surgery on Ted and put Great Stuff inside of him – it worked perfectly! Our favorite part was forming it into papier-mâché by putting newspaper dipped in glue over Ted! It was a ton of fun and we made a mess at Lyndsey’s house! Sadly, we didn’t place in the competition, but in our eyes we did. Ted looked amazing and we both enjoyed competing together. Another favorite memory I have with “Lyn-dizzle” is working out with her. We made the brave decision in January to do Training for Warriors (TFW). TFW is held at the Plex with a couple of different trainers who work there. We enjoy this time together because it is our time to be with different people and get our minds off of things. Sarah, our trainer, likes to call us her “Package Deal.”

I would like to point out that Lyndsey is a friend you can tell anything to and she will actually listen to what you have to say. She doesn’t judge anyone and truly tries to find the good in everyone. People should really take notes on Lyndsey. I like to refer to Lyndsey as a very genuine person; it’s good to have friends like that. Thankfully, our friendship does not have to dis-solve after graduation. We are both attending Murray State University and going into the nursing program. As a Ballard County homebody, I am very thankful to have Lyndsey to help with the transition into col-lege life. I look forward to watching her achieve greatness and I would like to say that I am very blessed that God gave me such a wonderful friend.

Maggie Denton By Abbi Denton

“God made us cousins because

He knew our moms couldn’t handle us as sisters.”-Unknown. This quote describes Maggie and me perfectly. We have been cousins ever since I can remember, but more impor-tantly best friends. From making imaginary castles in the woods when we were 10, to finishing out our senior year, we’ve been together since day one. Maggie is a smart, Christian woman who always wants others to be happy. She is the most selfless person I know and is someone whom you love to love. Maggie and I have the kind of relationship where we can go weeks without talking or hanging out, but can pick up right where we left off and not miss a beat. I would tell you my favorite memory that we have together, but we have been on so many trips and crazy adventures, that there’s no way I could pick just one. Even though we are going to different colleges and will be a few hours away from each other, I know that we will always be close. Mag-

gie, being the good, kind-hearted person she is, will be great at what-ever she does in life. And I can’t wait to be cheering her on each step of the way.

Shelby Rollings By Lyndsey Grief

Just one scroll through her instagram profile and you’ll see a lot of typical Shelby. There you’ll find pictures of friends, cats, a dog, cats, her parents, and then more cats. To all her friends, this comes as no surprise. Shelby and I grew up together. It doesn’t take much to know that Shelby is a very black and white person. She either likes something, or doesn’t, and there is no in-between. I like being around Shelby because she is a very hon-est person when it comes to her opinion about things. When we were younger, we played softball together and once we got older we played soccer together. Shelby was the fastest girl on the soccer team. I remember one game specifically where Shelby threw her leg up to kick a ball; she should have used her head instead of her leg, seeing that her head was the closest body part to the ball. She ended up kicking a girl in the face, which resulted in a yellow card. Shelby bee-bopped right off the field like she couldn’t have cared less! This was a memory the whole team laughed about throughout the rest of the season. Another memory I share with Shelby includes suckers. The journalism class sells suckers at lunch time as a fundraiser. Recent-ly, I walked out to the hallway to buy a sucker from her. When I got to the table, I saw that there were no boxes filled with suckers anywhere. Seeing my confused expression, Shelby explains, “I just bought the last sucker,” (as she’s sucking on a red sucker). Now, what’s sad about this is that I actually believed her. The next day I happened to walk in the journalism room, and there I found boxes overflowing with suckers! I laughed to myself and thought, “Only Shelby…”

Halee Jo Showalter By Krista Whitt

Crazy, funny, smart, outgoing, and very blunt. Those are just a few ways to describe Halee Jo.

She has been one of my best friends since the third grade. We’ve had our share of disagreements, but we’ve always managed to work past them. And along the way, we’ve

managed to make a lot of memories.I’ll never forget my 13th birth-

day, walking to the soda machines at 12:00 a.m. screaming the lyrics to “Girls Just Want to Fun” at the top of our lungs. Junior Prom was also memorable because we were each other’s dates. Then we went to Steak ‘N’ Shake for milkshakes afterwards. Yum!

I’m thankful to have had a best friend like Halee. She’s been there for me through my good and bad times. And that’s how it will always be.

Halie Gaskins By Megan Wagner

What comes to mind when I think of Halie is fearless. She is CRAZY, but I am so happy to call her my best friend. Halie and I have been best friends for 11 years. Halie and I met when I moved to Kentucky from Louisiana. There is not a memory that she isn’t in. You will never find us too far apart. We do everything together from shop-ping, riding to school, to work. My greatest memory with Halie would probably be our junior year spring break. We went to Panama City, Florida. Seven days with this crazy thing was enough. From waking up early to go lie out on the beach, to trying to tan (let me remind you that we are both redheads with very fair skin), to staying up all night and starting the day all over again. At the end of our trip we looked like lobsters. I’m grateful to say I have one of the best friends anyone could ask for. Halie has been there through it all. Through the laughs and tears, from mov-ing back to Louisiana and coming

back, we never lost our friendship. There hasn’t been a time when I needed her where she wasn’t there. We have withdrawals when we are not around each other to the point that we have had all of our classes changed so we have the same schedule. You would think that we would get tired of each other, but I honestly don’t know what I would do without her. I love her so much!!!!

Krista Whitt By Halee Showalter

“Shh. This is the good part!” This is one of the many insiders that Krista Whitt and I share. We have been best friends for 9 years. Although we have had our ups and downs, we have managed to get over them all and still be friends. I’ll never forget when we were at Krista’s 16th birthday party and her mom recording her dancing. Or when she dyed my hair and got dye all over me. I am very thankful to have had her as a friend all these years. She has had my back through thick and thin – through the good and the bad times – and that’s how it is always going to be.

Megan Wagner By Halie Gaskins

My best friend might as well be my twin. We look just alike; no one can tell us apart. I met her my 2nd grade year and we have been friends for 11 years. Megan is brave, strong minded, amazing, and very independent! We are hardly ever apart. We have the same sched-ule and ride together to and from school. We even work together.

When we aren’t working we are go-ing shopping or just spending time together doing absolutely nothing. My favorite memories with Megan are this past summer when my mom and I went to Louisiana to pick her up and stayed in Biloxi, Mississippi for the weekend. We rented a jet ski for two hours and just played around in the ocean. That is where I tried raw oysters and grossed her out. Another favorite memory is our Spring Break junior year we went to Panama City Beach, Florida. We stayed for a week and lay on the beaches and enjoyed the night-life all night long. I have no idea what I would do without her. I can honestly say she is my other half. She has always been there for me no matter the situation and you best believe she tells me the truth in a very blunt way. This is why I love her and consider her my best friend!

Scott Jenkins By Weston Gordon

When you play a sport you in front of a crowd you are playing the game to the best of your abilities, but when you perform in front of hundreds of people things can be quite different. I joined marching band my sophomore year and that is when my friendship with Scott Jen-kins really began to takeoff. As any veteran marching band member will tell you, you form strong friend-ships with the people in your band. It is different than normal friend-ships because you go through so much in such a short time together.

Our friendship was forged by sweat, music, and Mr. Beat. With the heat of the sun on our necks and music notes whispering in our ear, we endured three band camps, many long bus rides, and many amazing performances together. The band went through a rough patch and we lost many members by the end of it all, but one thing I can remember about it was Scott staying dedicated to the program and the band. At many gatherings he would speak up and tell the band to stay together or to work harder; sometimes he would even lead a voluntary discipline lap around the lot as show of charac-ter. When the time came to step up Scott Jenkins rose to the challenge. This is the serious side of Scott, but don’t think that his dedication to the band would make him a stone. He is one of the funniest guys I know and he can break an awkward silence with ease. Fun, witty, and clever are just a few words that fit him. It

is hard to describe such a vibrate person in such few words and I feel I have missed several key things about his personality. But I am happy to say that I was right there with him throughout high school

Clayton Walker By Justin King

We’ve been red headed broth-ers since the beginning. Our moms took birthing classes together, got to know each other, and then took walks in the park as friends, push-ing their parchment-skinned babies around in strollers with the sun shades on so we didn’t get burnt. Being “the ginger kids” brings

people together; we always stuck up for each other. Everybody and their brother thought they knew a red-head joke that we hadn’t heard before; they didn’t. We’ve heard them all, quit trying.

I feel like we’ve all been a part of the same group of friends since forever. Every group project, school function, different sports, we always try to be together. Put nine guys together and, no matter how close of friends they are, they will all treat each other like crap. It’s how we work, and we like it that way. So, when Southpark makes an episode teasing red heads, who becomes the target of the jokes? That’s right; we do. We’ve been through every joke together, though thankfully “Kick a Ginger Day” never caught on in Ballard. We’re the coolest red heads and we’re best bros for life.

Justin King By Scott Jenkins

When people think of best friends some think of having a friend who enjoys many of the same things as you, while others think of a friend as someone who is not afraid to be honest with their opin-ions and bring their own advice to a situation. Justin Todd King is with-out a doubt my friend that openly has the same thoughts and sense of humor as I do. Although we are mean to each other or pick at each other every now and then, we are more often than not supportive and friendly. I met Justin back in 6th grade and I could not have disliked this short, pudgy ginger more. I did not get along with him in any way other than the fact that we had band class together. Obviously I had to endure him a little bit, but it finally

got to the point where we eventu-ally, at least, acted friendly. Middle school was interesting because we were both in band. We got to go to the State Level of marching band and watch the competitions; at this point Justin King really started to be one of my good friends. Marching band gave us mutual friends and we began getting exciting about the coming years. During my freshman and sophomore years, Justin and I acted a fool together. For most school and band trips we were in-separable. The time had come when Justin and I no longer just had to be involved in band, but now we both had to step up as leaders. Justin and I played woodwind instruments and got to show the younger members how to act, march, and play. My junior year of marching band with

this guy is one of the reasons I love marching band so much. Justin and I got close to each other and right at the start of our senior year he found out he couldn’t do it any longer. Though I was sad, Justin King and I are still the best of friends, even when we don’t march together. Justin plays soccer and plays tennis with me, which is always a great time. Justin Todd King is one of the smartest and “phattest” people I know. You could ask anyone about Justin and they would instantly understand everything about our friendship. We insult each other, we fight, we laugh, we talk, and we really take time to understand each other.

Alexis Lee Hack

By Jesse GravesWhen it comes to a love/hate

relationship, this girl and I take the cake. Lexie and I have been loving and hating each other since we were little. You might know us from throwing chairs at each other and going to ISD, then walking down the hallways like we’re best friends the next day. I have real brothers and sisters, but in the end it’s Lexie who is the one I count on. She is the strongest, kindest, and most motivated girl that I’ve ever met. I couldn’t ask for a better sibling to grow up with and laugh with and make mistakes with. For the rest of my life, the person who I’m going to think of when I hear R Kelly is this girl. She is a part of my life, my heart, and I would be lost without

her. I don’t tell her this enough, but sometimes I feel like God gave her to me just to help me get through this life in this little town. And one of these days we’re going to make it big Booges!! Love you to the moon and back Lexie…

Brooke Summers By Lexi Hack

Brooke and I, known as the girl welders, made the best of our time at BMHS. Brooke is a smart, out-going girl, who is always smiling and laughing. One of my favorite memories with her at BMHS is when we posted a picture of Robert and Rambo all over the halls. I’m going to miss terrorizing the halls of Ballard with my best friend.

Jesse Graves By Brooke Summers

Known for getting “Most Opin-ionated”, he is just that. Jesse and I have been friends since kindgarten. We have always been there for each other through thick and thin. I can always tell when Jesse is coming down the hallway because I hear him before I see him. There is never a dull moment when he is around! We have always made the best out of everything and will continue to forever!

Josh Bazinet By Marie Lamb

You never realize who is telling the truth or who your real friends are till later in life. I can tell you one person who will tell the truth

and actually be your friend; his name is Josh. Josh has been my best friend since middle school. He’s always there for me when I am down and he brings my spirit up. I know I can tell him anything and everything; when we hang out it’s like we’re the only people in the world. We never keep track of time. He’s the only friend I really have that has been there for me through thick and thin, no matter what I say or what I do. I always know Josh will be there for me and make sure I do the smart thing. He even gives me some guy advice. I don’t know what I would do without Josh. I remember the time that Josh and I drove around and we just had the time of our lives. Every time we’re together he’s always making jokes and being funny or he’s tickling me – it’s like I never can get away from

being tickled.

Daygan Morphew By Will Jones

Daygan Morphew has been a friend of mine since my time in BCES. Back then it was all fun and games – we did what we wanted because were young and could get away with it…so I thought. Around 5th grade I found Daygan hang-ing with a group, or the “gang,” that was devised for the fun of it, I guess. We met when Michael Bliss offered me his place because of reasons I can no longer remem-ber. I do remember, though, that I declined the offer and went on with my life; the beginning of a friend-ship that’s lasted up till now. From then on Daygan and I have been friends, from 6th grade to senior year, sat together at lunch, told jokes, made fun, just having a great time. When school would end we’d get home (we rode the same bus) and play Xbox games together. We even made a comic out of moments in Castle Miner Z. it was great fun up until this year when I guess things didn’t work. We’re on the bus together, but we have no classes together or lunch. Xbox is still fun, and we’ve had some spectacular times playing with and against each other.

Will Jones By Daygan Morphew

Most of you may know him by the top of his head. I met in him in Elementary School and have known him for years. Will Jones is a great friend who makes very funny jokes. I have worked with him in group projects I have played video games with him. He is a laid back person who likes to sleep, but he knows when it is time to work. He is my good friend. Will Jones always has my back no matter what; I watch his back and he watches mine.

Sam Johnson By Josh Nalley

If you’ve walked the halls of Ballard Memorial High School within the past 4 years, there is one person you can’t miss. He’s tall, he’s loud, and in the middle of everything. From messing with Nan and Pop to the squeaky Blazer, he never goes unnoticed. That person is Samuel L. Johnson. Sam is known by all, but loved by few. Although I give him a hard time, he is one of my closest friends. We met

for the first time in 5th grade lunch detention. Since then, not much has changed, most days you could find us together laughing and making fun of each other. If someone heard us talking, they would think we weren’t friends, but actually we have a very similar sense of humor. Time passes, life goes on, but one thing that will never change is Sam Johnson.

Kayla Tanner By Sam Johnson

Kayla Tanner is one of those seniors who makes your day better every single day you’re in school. I first meet Kayla in math class my freshman year, and probably ever since then we have been best friends. I think most of our memo-ries have been causing havoc within Ballard Memorial High School.

Josh Nalley By Kayla Tanner

Shaggy blonde hair, don’t care attitude, loves Batman. Most people

think of none other than senior Josh Nalley. Josh always has some kind of smart aleck comeback to anything anybody has to say. And I think that’s why we get along so well, because we both just go back and forth with each other. Josh and I have been friends ever since I can remember. We grew up together, as kids he lived just a few minutes down the road from me. I can remember every day after school as children we would go play in the creek together. Although we are a lot older and we’ve both changed a lot, we’re still good friends.

Codi Sullenger By Lauren Graves

Do you have a friend who’s been around since you were born? Well, Codi is that friend to me. We’ve made some crazy memories togeth-er! It might be because of all that red hair she has, but she’s a little on the crazy side! Codi is the one per-son I could call up at any time and she would be up for pretty much anything, from eating Mexican

food, riding around, going mudding, and of course bow fishing! Out of all the stupid things we have done, I will never forget the day she talked me into riding the moped. Needless to say, I fell off the back and she just kept on going! Even though she did dump me off the back of the moped, she will always be that one crazy friend who was there through it all with me!

Haley Morrison By Codi Sullenger

Where do I begin? Haley Mor-rison is one of my best friends. She is an all around great person and fun to be around. Whenever I have been upset or down she has always found a way to say something to make it better or make me laugh. We have always gone to school together and weren’t very close until this year. She can tell some pretty funny stories that can make you laugh for a long while. She is a very trusting and caring person. She is the type of person that will help you out if you need it. Haley is one person that I am glad to have gotten to know bet-ter and become such great friends with.

Lauren Graves By Haley Morrison

I don’t even know where to start; Lauren Graves is hilarious. There is never a dull moment around her. People who don’t know her personally, at least know that she is the crazy Duke fan at Ballard Memorial. Lauren and I never really got along until our senior year, but now we are best friends. I remem-ber when we were younger I was having a sleepover, and since our parents were really close my mom made me invite her and her mom made her come. While playing Truth or Dare, Lauren was dared to lick the toilet seat, and she did. That was one of the funniest things I had ever seen. We also played softball together back in the day. We were warming up before a game and I threw a ball to her that popped up and hit her in the knee cap; I am pretty sure that she had a softball imprint on her knee for at least a week. That might have been why we didn’t get along so well… But now we are pretty well inseparable; just about every morning I sit in her car and share my breakfast with her, and in English she shares her food with me. Whenever I am having a bad day, she is one of the only ones who can make me laugh and turn

my day around. She is very reliable, funny, and a good person, even though she is a Duke fan. She is a very hard worker and a great person to get to know. I am so happy I got the chance to get to know her and become one of her best friends..

JerrodBlankenship By Shelby Simmons

When you hear of Jerrod and Shelby, you think about never being separated... Jerrod and I met in Mrs. Cooper’s Computer Apps class. Jerrod would always make fun of my fingers and my toes. After he would make fun of them, he would always play with my fingers, and massage them. We had a love/hate relationship; one day we would absolutely hate each other and the next we would act like it never hap-pened. Ever since that class Jerrod and I haven’t stopped talking to each other. Jerrod and I love to go spear fishing in the bottoms. Every summer since we started dating, Jerrod and I have gone to the bot-toms every day to go spear fishing. We also love hiking and hunting; our favorite is duck hunting. He took me for the first time and I absolutely loved it. We love being

on the beach together and playing around in the water. The first time we went to Florida together was the best trip ever; we walked around the strip and went to the beach. We walked about 3 miles every day to go eat at McDonald’s, because we absolutely love it! Jerrod is the sweetest guy ever; he loves to make sure that I’m happy. Jerrod has the prettiest eyes and the best smile, and he knows how to make anyone laugh. He knows how to make me laugh when I’m upset or mad, and I love that! I couldn’t ask for a better boyfriend or best friend. He is the absolute best thing that has ever happened to me! I wouldn’t trade him for anything in this world. Our best time we have ever had together was when we chased people down Highway 60 going 100 mph. It was the funniest time of my life, but I would never do it again!

Shelby Simmons ByJerrod Blankenship

I have known Shelby Renee’ Simmons for the past four years, and they have been a great four years, especially the year and ten months that she has been my perfect girlfriend, or wife, as I call her. I feel like our relationship is just like

a marriage. Shelby is more than just my best friend, she is someone I love with all my heart, never want to lose, can rely on, and trust. Shel-by is amazing, she is very caring, very trustworthy, loving, and has the most gorgeous face and eyes. She is a very unique and intelligent woman who I want to spend the rest of my life with. Shelby and I have the best, humorous, marriage-like relationship you could ask for and I wouldn’t trade that girl for any-thing. She’s my everything and my motivation, and my love for her will never end. It has kept going, from the second it began when I saw her freshman year, and will continue forever. We started dating July 10th, 2012, during summer before junior year. We are one month from gradu-ating high school and currently still together and plan to last forever. I will never forget the crazy memo-ries we have made already, such as passing cars at 100mph, never again! Ha-ha. I and Shelby like to spend every day together, cuddling, watching movies, driving around, hunting, fishing, and especially spear-fishing. I will always protect my beautiful love from anything and everything and will do anything I have to do to keep her by my side; I love my Shelby more than life itself!

Taylor Foster By Cassidy O’Conner

It takes a lot of work to find that one friend who you know will always be there. You know what I

mean, that one friend who you can talk to for hours and still be having the same conversation with a day later; the one who has been there for you through everything; and the one who knows what you’re saying even before you say it. Well, my search is over and has been for a while. My one-of-a-kind friend is Taylor Foster. Taylor and I have been best friends since the day we met. From the moment I met her I knew we would be friends for a long time. Taylor is the kind of person who I can sit and talk to for hours and hours, and laugh until I cry. There is never a dull moment when we get together. We have so many memories together, too many to name, and some weirder than others! One of the weirdest memo-ries we have had together was about two years ago. We were spending the night at Taylor’s grandmother’s house with a girl we knew from New Mexico. Before that night we had noticed that the girl was a little strange, but we didn’t think much of it; we just thought she might have been a tad bit different. When it was time to go to bed, Taylor and I decided to sleep in the big bed, and the other girl slept on the futon. We had the TV on and were watching it before we went to bed, but the other girl asked us to turn it down so she could sleep. Honestly, we were annoyed by her request, but we turned it down anyway. Finally we fell asleep and the next morning Taylor woke me up, whispering for me to roll over and look at the other girl. When I did I was shocked! She

Page 32: 052814 page complete

was sitting straight up, Indian style, and staring at both of us! Taylor and I asked her what she was doing and she said that she had woken up four hours earlier and had been staring at us, waiting for us to wake up! Now I don’t know about you, but to us this seemed really strange! To this day, Taylor and I still laugh about and tell this story to all of our friends. Taylor has a great personal-ity and can make any situation fun. She can turn the most boring thing into a fun time! Taylor has always been here for me, and I know she always will be. I know I can tell her anything and she will give me advice when I need it or just listen when I need someone to vent to. Like our mothers, I think Taylor and I will be friends for a very long time. I can honestly say she is the one person I trust with anything and everything. I hope that after gradua-tion we will stay close and hang out more than we do now.

Cassiday O’Connor By Taylor Fosterr

Many people don’t have someone that they know will be their lifelong friend. I, on the other hand, know that I will always have Cassidy O’Connor as a friend. Where do I start when talking about Cassidy? Cassidy and I were best friends long before we were born. Our mothers grew up as best friends and so have Cassidy and I. She has one of the best personalities and has always been there for me. We are the type of friends who can be doing anything and make it fun. One night we were laying in my bed at about 2 a.m. and a really weird show came on. For some reason, it was the funniest thing ever to us! To this day we still laugh about it. No matter what, I know Cassidy and I will always be friends and be there for each other. Our mothers didn’t grow far from each other and never will we. I don’t know many people who don’t like Cassidy. She is very sweet and caring toward anyone she meets, even strangers. She can make the most boring things fun – maybe even a little too fun. Cassidy and I can have a great night just sit-ting around talking about everything that has happened. Even though we don’t hang out as much as we used to, I know I can always count on her to be there. She is the one childhood friend I know I will never lose.

Kaelyn Talbot By Trevor Doom

Kaelyn Talbot and I met in ms farmer english class. Her favorite memory of senior year is that she went to basketball homecoming and the homecoming dance. She danced with three guys. Next, she sang with the choir at a church. She is goofy in her own way plus she enjoys the outdoor activities such as muddin and fishing with her family. She is caring, she loves animal. She is bad at math. She will always be there for you as a friend if you need help. Her hobbies that she enjoys singing, writing songs, drawing, and she loves football, baseball, and softball. She likes to four-wheel. I feel she is a good kind of crazy. She has flew six times in her life to Oregon and back. The reason why we became friends is because of our friend Marie Lamb. We both love to drive marie up the wall and each other. We both joke around, plus we like to go to family parties.

Madison Wilson By Devin Holmes

You will find Madison Wilson at school doing one of two things, talking to the women or play-ing soccer. He is by far the most changed person since freshman year. I remember years ago being in middle school and being good friends with and also having fun at football practice and games. He was one of the smallest on the team but he had a lot of heart. Nowadays I see him in auto body and advanced P.E. and all we do is talk about finally graduating.

Kyle Bosse By Daniel Brunston

My friend Kyle and I have grown very close this past year. We started as lab partners in Chemistry and ever since then we have become great friends. Kyle is a great guy who would do anything for anyone, including joining the Army to defend our country. You will always find him with a smile on his face and with a great attitude, always cracking jokes. Kyle ships out for boot camp May 28; so sadly he will not get to walk at graduation with us. Not getting to walk with your best friend honestly kind of sucks. But I know Kyle will do a great job in the military defending our coun-try and will return home safely. My favorite memory of Kyle and I are our great fishing trips and balling it up at Nana’s house.

Daniel Brunston By Kyle Bosse

Daniel Brunston aka Danny B. aka Gucci B is my main man, he’s a real g. There are many choice memories we have together. Some are school appropriate, some aren’t. The ones that are school appropri-ate are the times when we would go fishing together or hang out and chill with Gavin at his Nana’s. We’ve made a lot of memories this year as we grew closer, and I hope we have a chance to make more. Everybody knows Danny B, He’s a good friend. A better friend than most can be or will ever be. Daniel would always be there to have my back, just like I would be for him.

Kaine Brooks By Abbi Denton

My friend Kyle and I have gro“I’m not shy, I’m holding back my awesomeness, so I don’t intimidate you.” This quote, author unknown, could easily be used to describe senior Kaine Brooks. Vot-ed “Most Shy” by his classmates, Kaine is the son of Will and Melissa Brooks of Wickliffe. Shyness aside, Kaine is known for his cool hair and video-gaming skills. He played football for one year and when he’s not in school he loves to hang out with his friends. Kaine hopes to be remembered as a great person. His future plans are to attend WKCTC.

Tracy Armer By Hagen Gholsen

Have you ever almost slung your best friend out of your truck when doing a U-turn? Well, I did on day when Tracy and I brought home my new Bronco one fine summer af-ternoon. I could go on and on with stories about Tracy and me. Most of them I can’ tell, but here is one or two. Once me and my girlfriend and Tracy and his girlfriend drove to my girlfriend’s house and all four of us squeezed into a single cab Ford truck. Surprisingly enough we drove through Kevil and La Center and never got pulled over. Another time we went riding through the KOW to cut cain and we thought a game warden was after us so we were doing about 65 on those gravel roads pulling a four foot trailer. Tracy has always been a good friend and helped me whenever I needed it, no matter how big or stupid the project is. I am obliged to call Tracy my best friend.

Wesley Newton By Karson Scott

Wesley Newton, to describe this boy is like asking someone to blow up the sun, it is impossible. If you don’t know who Wesley is then you need to get to know him; because once you do he will be the best friend you ever had. I remem-ber back in our years of baseball, Wesley and me were on a team of some of our best friends. We were all on that team for eight years. Wesley played right field, some-times left field, but the most fun you had watching him was he was up to bat. He had two nicknames on that team and they were tomahawk and Smiley. He was given the name tomahawk at the very beginning of the season because every time he went up to hit the ball instead of swinging at it he would chop at the ball like he had an axe. He got the nickname Smiley and still to this day does because every and anytime you see him no matter what mood he is in or the occasion you see him he always has a smile on his face and it makes your day to see it.
