Hundreds of thousands of LOGO!sare already in use: When it comesto switching and control, manysatisfied users all over the worldare already innovative LOGO!customers.

With LOGO!, customers can solvemany of their applications much faster, more conveniently, and above all, more cost-effectively than with con-ventional technology. LOGO! is a com-plete solution, is compact in size, andoffers a wide range of practical func-tions for virtually every single applica-tion.

Save money: One LOGO! instead of a whole array of switching devices!

The multifunctional logic module isan essential component of Siemensmicrosystems, and replaces a wholerange of conventional switchingdevices at comparatively low cost. With LOGO!, you can also utilize inte-grated programming, operator input, and display functions without havingto pay extra for them! Smaller controlcabinets, the need for fewer acces-sories, and lower storage costs in-crease savings even more (as much as50 % of the total cost!). And becauseLOGO! is completely wear-resistant,reliability is optimized and mainte-nance costs kept to a minimum.

Save time: LOGO! equals less wiring

With LOGO! you can save as much as80 % of the time normally required formaintaining uptime from configuringto maintenance because it is no longernecessary to assemble a large numberof different switching elements. Allyou need is one LOGO! Just press afew keys to program the logic moduleand customize your solution instead ofhaving to painstakingly wire each func-tion separately.

Alternatively, you can write and testyour program quickly on your PC andtransfer it to LOGO! via program mod-ule or PC cable, as often as you wish, and always error-free. This reduces thestart-up time for small quantities andreally moves series production intohigh gear. Free sample programs anda constantly growing collection of self-written, reusable programs help saveeven more time.

In addition, LOGO! fits into any controlcabinet or distributor box and is easyto install because it can simply besnapped onto a standard DIN rail.Furthermore, if you have to changesomething later, you don’t have to doany rewiring. All you have to do ispress a button or plug in a programmodule.

Save space: Smaller controlcabinets thanks to LOGO!

LOGO! can save you up to 70% spacein both the control cabinet and in thestockroom, so you can plan right fromthe start to make your cabinets smaller!

With LOGO! you need only four modu-lar spaces to replace the functions ofmany timers, relays, clocks, and con-tactor relays on the DIN rail. For exam-ple, a compressor control system is re-duced to the size of a shoe box. Oryou can install LOGO! as a completecontrol system, with operator keypadand display, and it fits right into themachine frame.

Also, LOGO! proves that you don’thave to sacrifice flexibility. On thecontrary, with 19 integrated functions,LOGO! still has sufficient expansionoptions available to make additionalhardware unnecessary.

LOGO! clears up your stockroom too;because it doesn’t only replace hugenumbers of conventional switchingdevices, which in itself considerablysimplifies ordering and stockkeeping, you also save on accessories such ascable channels, cables, DIN rails, mounting hardware, etc. With stock onhand consisting of only a few LOGO!versions, you are ready for anyapplication, whether in the factory orat the customer’s place of business.

With LOGO! you’re on the safe side

With LOGO!, you’ll realize savingsthroughout your operation.Configuring is reduced, installation andstart-up becomes quick and easy, wiring costs and malfunctions aresignificantly reduced - meaning pro-duction will be faster. Additionally, function block diagrams can simply beduplicated for serial applications orcustomized to suit customer require-ments. Documentation can be createdeasily and quickly at the push of a but-ton or click of a mouse. LOGO! makesa lot of things easier, faster, and morecost-efficient.

Hundreds of thousands of LOGO!sare already in use

You will be astonished at what youcan control and switch with LOGO!The applications that LOGO! cancontrol are virtually limitless!

From domestic and commercialapplications, here are some control examples…• Lighting in appartments, stairwells,

shop windows• Fluorescent lighting circuits• Blinds, sunshades• Heating and ventilation systems• Garage doors• Alarm and bell systems • Whirlpools• Solariums• Irrigation and sprinkler systems

…to industrial applications, here are just a few control examples…• Elevating platforms, lifts• Cable-welding machines• Etching and purifying plants• Industrial saws, planers, bending

machines and cutters• Cutting machines• Strapping machines• Boilers• Heating, cooling, ventilation and

air-conditioning systems• Silo works• Conveyor systems• Level measuring systems• Fractional-horsepower motors,

pumps and valves• Compressors • Energy management systems• Load transfer switches• Access control/parking lot

monitoring systems• Barrier and gate control systems.

LOGO! is suitable for all environ-ments - Even on the high seas!

LOGO! meets the highest require-ments for vibration resistance, electro-magnetic compatibility (EMC), andclimatic conditions, such as humidity.

Obviously this makes LOGO! ideal forindustrial applications. Thanks to theRadio Interference Suppression ClassB rating, it can be used in mixed officeand industrial environments. And sinceLOGO! has all the required approvals,it’s also available throughout theworld. But that’s not all. LOGO! alsoproves its quality in rough sea environ-ments.

The following international shipbuildingapprovals certify this:• American Bureau of Shipping• Bureau Veritas• Det Norske Veritas• Germanischer Lloyd and• Lloyds Register of Shipping.

In order to set a new standard, oldstandards must be left behind.

It’s with good reason that you canexpect from Siemens, the inventorsof the original universal logic module, new versions with even more memorycapacity, more functionality, as well asmore user-friendly handling.

We set the standard - and we willcontinue to do so.

A large number of switching and con-trol applications require unique, cus-tomized solutions. This means that youmust plan, pre-select and purchasethe required components and hard-ware for a particular application.Contactors, timing relays, and clockshave to be purchased, as must the individual components needed forassembly and wiring.

LOGO! makes all of this a lot easier, faster, and more convenient!

Siemens has integrated everythingyou need in the way of tools intoLOGO! - including the functions.LOGO! is not only optimally suited toa wide range of standard applications, but can also accommodate individualcustomer requirements, such asadded convenience and energy savings.

LOGO! makes your work simplerand easier:

1.You describe the task you wantsolved.2.You snap LOGO! onto the DIN railand connect the inputs and outputs.3. Then you select the required func-tions and simply combine them withyour function block diagram by press-ing a key.4. Finally you carry out testing andstart-up.

Changes? In no time at all withLOGO!

LOGO! will considerably reduce thetime and effort involved in carrying outchanges, expansions, and updating! Allyou have to do is combine the inte-grated functions into a new functionblock diagram with the push of a but-ton. In this way, “rewiring” is as sim-ple as can be, and requires no costly,time-consuming replacement or addi-tions to existing hardware.

From circuit diagram to the LOGO!control program

Are you comfortable with traditionalladder logic? If so, the LOGO! functionblock diagram will present no problemwhatsoever. In the function block dia-gram, straightforward symbols repre-sent the individual functions to beused. You simply combine these ready-to-use functions to form your diagram.

A practical example of an OFFdelay:

After switching off switches S1 andS2, the lamp is to remain on foranother 2 minutes.

The figure below shows your previouscircuit diagram:

And this is your new function blockdiagram with LOGO!:

LOGO!Long doubles your capabilityyet remains compact!

LOGO!Long provides 12 inputs and8 outputs in one unit - twice as manyas the basic LOGO!.Expansion is no longer a problem ifyour application requires more inputsand/or outputs. Furthermore you savespace, because LOGO!Long needsconsiderably less space than twoLOGO!Basics.

LOGO!Long also offers additionalfunctions

There’s almost twice as much mem-ory! It is now possible to combine notonly 30, but 56 functions. Also, Typeidentifier “C” for the integrated clockis now found in all LOGO! versions(exception: LOGO!24/24L).

The function scope has also increased. The LOGO! versions are nowequipped with a twelve-month clockand three five-digit operating hourscounters.New is the “pulse generator” function, which allows you to set differentmark-to-space ratios. Beginning imme-diately, two 1 kHz inputs instead ofonly one are available for acquiringhigh-speed pulses in conjunction withthe integrated trigger function.

The retentivity for counters, operatinghours counters, current rush relaysand latching have also been integrat-ed, effective immediately. And if youwant to protect your program againstcopying, you can use the know-howprotection feature with the optionalprogram module card “Card red”.

LOGO!Bus:Start communicating!

LOGO! remains easy to handle evenwhen used as an intelligent AS-Inter-face slave because no additional engi-neering effort is involved for commu-nications.

Autonomous when there are busmalfunctions

In their role as an AS-Interface slave, the LOGO!Bus versions serve to ex-change process signals and status orcontrol information in networked sys-tems with high-level controllers likethe SIMATIC S7-200 micro PLC. Here,LOGO!Bus can also be operated on astand-alone basis at any time: if busmalfunctions occur, LOGO! simplycontinues working on its own!

Under the keyword Microsolutions,Siemens, as a global player, offers youa complete modular system with prod-ucts which are perfectly attuned toone another. From single components, solutions are made - with everythingcoming from a single source and avail-able throughout the world.

Thanks to microsolutions, it is possibleto set up compact distributed controlsolutions based on the “plug andplay” principle. In addition to SIMATICS7-200 and LOGO!, the building-blocksystem contains HMI devices,SIMODRIVE drives, SIRIUS l.v.switchgear, AS-i modules (such as ac-tuators and sensors), and easily inte-

grated components from other manu-facturers.

A microsolution results when actua-tors, operator control equipment or au-tonomous intelligent LOGO! slaves arelinked by a master controller via AS-iI/O components (such as proximityswitches or valves) to form a cost-opti-mized, function-optimized system.

And everything you need is availablefrom a single source. The advantage:from consultation to ordering and fromdelivery to start-up, you will be able toproduce the optimum solution from asingle source provider!

With our microsystems, the SIMATICS7-200 micro PLC and the LOGO!universal logic module, we have rede-fined switching and control in the low-end performance range - and by doingso, we have set the global standard. With the microsystems fromSiemens, a new era in electrotechnol-ogy and industrial automation has be-gun!

More and more frequently, innovativeusers are replacing their own electron-ics, PLCs from other manufacturersand centralized control solutions, as

well as contactors, relays and clocks, with more flexible solutions based onour microsystems. And for good rea-son:

Microsystems from Siemens excelthanks to their proverbially easy han-dling and high degree of functionality -and, of course, through further bene-fits of both quality and cost. With ourmicrosystems, you can markedly raisethe quality of your machines andplant, reduce hardware, space and ca-bling overheads, speed up the start-upprocess, and simplify subsequentmodifications.
