5.3.3 Locating the Cabinet
I. Marking
Define the installation location of the cabinet based on the reference dimension givenin the construction design drawing, measure a few points with a tape measure, and
draw two straight lines parallel to the reference and with a distance of 370 mm inbetween by using an ink string. Then, define the installation hole positions of the firstcabinet on the two lines according to the design requirement, and define the
installation holes of the other cabinets with the holes of the first cabinet as reference. To prevent mistakes, all the installation hole lines should be measure again until theyare confirmed to be correct dimensions. Figure 5-5 shows installat ion holes of a single
cabinet, and Figure 5-6 shows the installation holes of multiple c abinets.

II. Drilling
Drill holes on the ground at expansion bolt hole marks with a percussion drill. The drill
bit size should bev14 or v16.
Hold the drilling bit vertical to the ground during drilling. Hold tight the drillstock with
two hands to keep it in the right direction, vibrations of the drill may damage the ground, enlarge the size of the hole or incline the hole.
The depth of the holes should the length of the expansion tube plus the tapered head,
and the depth of all holes should be the same. When checking the depth of the holes, remove the dust from the holes so that the net depth is measured. When drilling the
holes, use a vacuum cleaner to clean the dusts.
If the ground is too hard and smooth to settle the drill bit, punch a pit with a chisel
before drilling.
In the case of av14 bit, and if the hole size is small, the holes can be enlarged bymeans of technical processing.
As the line drawing and hole drill ing jobs are the fundam ental work for hardware
installation, any bad precision will bring great troubles to the follow-up jobs. Therefore, the guarantee of these jobs is a necessary condition for the quality of the wholeproject.
5.3.4 Installing the Lower Frame
I. Installing the expansion bolt
Before the installation, remove the dust inside and outside the holes, and then check
the hole distance. Whenever big errors occur, the concerned hole must be re-locatedand drilled.
Put the expansion bolts and the expansion tubes perpendicularly into the installationholes. Strike directly on the bolts with a rubber hammer until the expansion tubes of the
expansion bolts are totally driven into the ground. Then, install the insulating washers, big flat washers (to replace the washers contained in the expansion bolts), spring
washers and nuts on the expansion bolts. Tighten the nuts to 45 N∃m. Pull the
expansion bolt until it expands totally. Finally, take down the nuts, spring washers andflat washers.
II. Installing the lower frame
Follow the instructions shown in Figure 5-7 to install and fix the lower frame. Fit the
installation holes of the lower frame to the corresponding expansion bolts. Fix the big
base to the ground with nuts, spring washers and big flat washers. Use a torque
wrench to tighten the nut and make the torque at 45 N∃m. At this step, it is necessaryto install insulating spacer and insulating washer to ensure the insulation between the
cabinet and the ground.
The nut used for fixing the lower frame should be tightened alternatively to reduce the
Set the multimeter at the resistance measurement position. Place the two measuring
heads of the multimeter in contact respectively with cabinet and the expansion bolts tothe measure the resistance. If the circuit is disconnected, complete the installation.
Otherwise, it indicates that the cabinet is not insulated. In this case, check if any
insulating washer or insulating spacer is missed, or if any insulating washer isdamaged. Repeat the procedure as given in "II. Installing the lower frame" of Section
5.3.4 and then check the insulation again.
5.3.6 Fixing the Cabinet
Place the cabinet on the upper frame, and use the fastener to fix the cabinet to theupper frame through the four fixing holes from top to bottom. See Figure 5-8.

5.5.6 Installation of Extended Base
I. Installing the expansion bolts
Before fixing the expansion bolts, clean up the dust inside and outside of the holes wi tha vacuum cleaner and measure the hole spacing. For the hole with intolerable error, it
is required to relocate and drill the holes.
Remove the washer and nut from the expansion bolt, put the expansion bolt and the
sleeve into the hole vertically. Then, strike directly on the bolt with a rubber hammer

until the sleeve of the expansion bolt is completely driven into the ground. Then, install
the insulating washers, big flat washers (to replace the washers contained in theexpansion bolts), spring washers and nuts in the expansion bolts. Fasten the nuts to
45 N∃m with a torque wrench. Pull the expansion bolt until it expands totally. Finally,
take down the nuts, spring washers and flat washers.
II. Installing the extended base
Align the installation holes of the extended base assembly to the corresponding
expansion bolts. Use nuts, spring washers and flat washers to fix the extended baseassembly on the ground. Then tighten bolt to 45 Nm (torque) with a Torque spanner.
Fasten the nuts on the extended base assembly alternatively to reduce the stress
between the bolts and the extended base.

A600 series IV assemblies are fixed supports. They mainly apply to ultrahigh and
ultra-low floors. The minimum applicable floor height of this assembly is 140 mm.
III. Support installation mode
The installation of support adopts the floor-bracketing mode, that is, bracket the floor inbetween the cabinet and the support. Then, run the bolts through the antistatic floor tofix the cabinet and the support. In this way, the cabinet can be firmly fixed and
supported.
IV. Support quantities
2N installation supports are used for installing the cabinets, i.e., N cabinets should be
supported with 2N supports. Figure 5-23 is the schematic diagram of BTS312 cabinetinstallation on the antistatic floor.

II. Drilling
Use av16 bit to drill a hole that is 70 mm deep on the ground where it is marked with
the expansion bolt.
Hold the percussion drill (or electric rubber) vertical to the ground during drilling. Holdtight the drillstock to keep in the right direction, vibrations may damage the ground and
incline the hole.
Before drilling, use a vacuum cleaner to remove the dust. Clear all the garbage in theequipment room before the staffs leave the equipment room every day.
If the ground is too hard and smooth to settle the drill bit, punch a pit with a chisel tohelp positioning the hole.
Drawing and drilling is the fundamental for the equipment hardware installation. If the
results are not accurate, it will bring trouble for the future work. Therefore, the quality atthe initial stage is the prerequisite for the quality of the whole project.
III. Installing expansion bolts
Before fixing the expansion bolts, clean the dust inside and outside the hole with avacuum cleaner, then measure the hole diameters. For the hole with intolerable error, it
should be located and drilled again.
Put the expansion bolts perpendicularly into the installation holes. Strike carefully on
the bolts with a hammer until the expansion tubes of the expansion bolts arecompletely buried into the ground. Then, install the insulating washer, big flat washers
(to replace the washers contained in the expansion bolts), spring washers and nuts in
the expansion bolts. Tighten the nuts to 45 N∃m with torque wrench. Pull theexpansion bolt until it expands totally. Finally, take down the nuts, spring washers and

IV. Adjusting the height of support
Adjust the supports to the predefined heights, finely adjust the height-lock bolt of the
support on the upper support to such an extent that they will not slip down. Put thesupport back to its installation position and run the expansion bolt through the
installation hole of the support.
5.6.5 Fix the Support
Align the hole on the antistatic floor with the connecting holes of the support . Screw the
M12 % 75 bolts from top to bottom. Meanwhile, place the flat washer, spring washer,
and insulating washer (for the purpose of increasing the contact area) as is shown inFigure 5-26.
Gently strike the hammer to finely adjust the support height so that the antistatic floor falls on its original place on the framework. Make sure that that the upper plane
presses against the antistatic floor. Then, screw the tightening bolt on the antistaticfloor.
Tighten the expansion bolt to 45 Nm with a Torque spanner. Fasten the boltsalternatively to reduce the stress between the bolt and the supports.
Tighten the height-lock bolt to 45 Nm with a Torque spanner. The bolts in the middle
should be tightened first and then those at both sides. Figure 5-27 is the bolt positiondiagram.

5.6.7 Insulation Test
Set the multimeter to ohm range. Contact the cabinet and the connecting bolt with the
two probes of the multi -meter. Measure the electric resistance between them. If thecircuit is disconnected, complete the installation. Otherwise, it indicates that the
cabinet is not insulated. In this case, check if any insulating washer or insulatingspacer is missed, or if any insulating washer is damaged. Repeat the cabinetinstallation procedure and then check the insulation again.
5.7 Connection and Fixing of Combined BTS312 Cabinets
For cabinets to be combined, remove the shield cover plate on the combined cabinets
and the fasteners, and adhere shielding strips on the surface of the combined cabinet joints. When all the cabinets are in position, they should be tightly appressed. Run thefasteners through the connecting holes (four holes) the on the cabinet side to connect
the two cabinets, as shown in Figure 5-28 and Figure 5 -29, and then use fasteners toconnect the cabinets at the cabinet-top, as shown in Figure 5 -30.
